There was a gentle rain falling, but the space was covered and felt cozy. I loved the soft twinkle lights, the bean bag chairs, and the cool bar - everything was very hip. The waitstaff were beautifully dressed, efficient, and friendly enough (they also spoke perfect English). The bar snacks were good, and the cocktail menu was among the more interesting that I've seen. I loved my drink, which combined champagne and a rose liqueur. I suggested that my friend try a scotch-based cocktail infused with lapsang souchong tea. I knew that it would be strong and smoky, but I wasn't prepared for how delicious it would be. I kept sneaking sips. I would love to visit this bar again if I ever return to Bolzano!

The food is really good... from what I could tell, it's mostly salads and bruschetta but many different kinds. We had the gorgonzola and speck bruschetta I think. We went back the next day for more. I think it's only outdoor seating (under umbrellas and shade fabric). I doubt the area would accommodate more than 25 people but I'm guessing it's the kind of place that does not stand on formality and if more people show up, they will get squeezed in somewhere. The place used to be a fish market and there are two huge old marble fish-cleaning counters (fish banks???) that are very cool but seem like they take up an awful lot of space though I'm sure they are lines with food and drink when things get busy. This is where we were introduced to the Aperol Spritz, a popular low-alcohol drink popular in northern italy, made with Aperol (an orange-rhubarb Camparis-like aperitif) and proseco. Every other table had one of these... and they really are a good thing. This is a very specific kind of place... bohemian, quirky, low key... but have an aperol spritz (and a couple of beers) and kick back and watch the locals and tourists drift in and out of the place.

It's close to the center of town so we walked there after dinner and after visiting a different bar. Ambiance (5/5): We were seated at a small table with two chairs. First off, the ambiance here is amazing. It's sophisticated and there is some impressive art work that adorns the walls. The hotel itself is beautiful so make sure to explore the lobby area too while you're there. Service (3/5): As expected, typical Italian service. Not efficient and not terribly attentive but you get by. Food (N/A): While they have food, we didn't dabble as we had dinner earlier. Drinks (4/5): They have a creative list of craft cocktails which is what I went with. I always appreciate a bar that incorporates creative ingredients or combinations of ingredients into their drinks. You'll find that here. Though they are a bit overpriced. If you're looking for a fancy spot to grab some drinks, Laurin Bar may very well be your best option in Bolzano.

He offered a few pastas and a pizza, and we ordered the bolognese and another pasta. The chef brought it out himself and chatted with us with a giant smile. The bolognese was out of this world, and the chef told us about how it takes over 18 hours to make. It was beautiful sitting outside, and when we couldn't finish our food the server joked (or possibly said in earnest!) he would keep the food in the restaurant fridge for us since we didn't have a fridge at our hotel room.
