Bar George is a large bar in what used to be an old Sunday School building. Because of this, it's a massive open space that works well when the bar is busy, but can lend a slightly uncomfortable atmosphere when it's quite.
The walls are covered in humorous, wine-based slogans that, although funny at the time, have since slipped from my memory.
The bar specialises in wine and the whole back wall of the bar features as a massive wine rack. I took the cheats way out and went for their wine of the month, a dry rose, just so I wouldn't have to make any tough decisions! That said, I would love to come back and work my way through their wine list (this may take some time).
The clientele on this occasion were largely office folks enjoying a Friday evening tipple.
I didn't try the food but the menu looked interesting, if a little on the expensive side in comparison to other places on the Isle of Man. read more
