The restaurant here is part of a larger bar and off licence complex right near the bus station and I have never heard of anyone having a bad meal here. The pub can be a little bit rough at times and is definitely for the older crowd but it is what it is and you can get a decent enough pint. The restaurant on the other hand I have found to be really, really good. Granted I have never really went more exotic than one of their homemade beef burgers and chips but I've always found it tasty and reasonably priced with wine and dine deals usually on. The staff are really friendly and always helpful, being attentive but not pushy. A really enjoyable dining experience. Nice and quiet, particularly good for dates.

This place has just undergone a revamp and is totally transformed. We decided to check it out on Saturday night and were really quite impressed. A great selection of cocktails, craft beers and spirits in stylish comfy surroundings. It really was hard to get your head round that you were in the Ava! Bit of live Jazz in the corner, table service, reasonable prices, we were very pleasantly surprised indeed. A welcome new spot in Bangor for a few relaxed drinks in a nice atmosphere. Didn't try the food but it looked good as well.

Fantastic restaurant in Bangor had had a beautiful facelift... To be honest I've been in twice for lunch on a Saturday since The Ava reopened its doors after a much welcome refurb and as ever it doesn't disappoint! The food was always fantastic here even if the backdrop was getting a little tired, but the new bar and new look is fantastic and should deservedly place it amongst the best restaurants in the town. I have to say I was a little nervous when I heard it was being taken over as it was always one of my favourite Bangor eateries, but when I first came back after the refurb I was reassured that the menu was similar to what it always was and it didn't disappoint. Each time I was in I had the chilli chicken board with garlic cubes and both times it was excellent and I will definitely be back. Just want to say too about the staff - whilst previously the elder staff can be a bit surly we we served the last time by a young girl I hadn't met before - she was extremely polite and very enthusiastic, warm and friendly, and when I was making my way down Main Street after and had got to just past Surf Mountain she came running after me as my daughter had left her toy at the table. Couldn't believe this, fantastic service. Hope to call back again this Saturday lunch time.

It's pretty hidden in the alley and not going to lie...coming to a new city, let alone a new country by myself was a bit intimidating, but I found it just in time for my reservation. I absolutely loved my first Michelin Star restaurant experience. I was born in Belfast, and have never been back since I was born, so I enjoyed every opportunity to tell a server. The staff was so friendly and described every dish. I ordered the Seasonal Tasting MenuEach dish was excellent. My favorite was probably the duck and the savory mousse pastries. Food in order of serving: 1. Sourdough Guinness bread with vanilla butter and olive oil 2. Olive sponge crab and apple, chicken and caramel with some type of mousse 3. Scallops, cucumber frothy brown butter 4. Bluefin tuna tartare with avocado and heirloom tomato 5. Halibut with crispy chicken skin 6. Duck 7. Sorbet and then....my phone died before I could write down the other yummy dishes I ate! The ambience was dark, romantic, and vibey. A little mysterious because of the hidden aspect, but overall I loved my whole experience here.

My weekday dinner at Muddler's Club seemed a bit directionless…read more The food is excellent, taste, flavor combinations and présentation. That is not the concern. The space itself has a very long and interesting history, just over 40 seats have been cramped into that space. A couple tables have small glass walls to separate them and squeeze in more diners. And it's pretty loud. So loud, I can barely hear the sommelier describe her wines. There may have been music playing... but who can hear? There seems to be an attempt to elevate the bartender over the sommelier, with the menu encouraging the guests to try specialty cocktails instead of selecting whole bottles of wine. And the bartender's constant ice shaker only adds to the noise. The service is very relaxed, with servers in t-shirts and jeans, sneakers, paper napkins. And the servers seemed a bit inattentive, watching the chefs through the pass, not paying attention to guests' needs. Oh, and the server even wrote "thank you" on the printed bill... How kind. Excellent Flair. Pure Chotchkie's. For the food, I'll return. 2025 04 16. M1. 235.

My Mum convinced me that working at one of Bangor's busiest bars would help round my character. To this day I am not sure if it did, but one thing is for sure the labour I undertook will help me give you the inside track on Bangor's oldest licensed premises. Jenny Watts is the Grandfather of pubs, it is quirky, full of character and can be quite entertaining if you ignore the tobacco stains. But much like an elderly relative it has one or two very interesting stories to tell. Legend has it Jenny herself was a famous 18th Century smuggler, regulars in the bar will tell of long winding caves that run from under the pubs deep cellar all the way to Bangor Bay. Having worked in Jenny Watts I can unfortunately confirm that this story is just a myth. But it is stories like this that help to mould an establishment. Tourists and Locals intermingle in Jenny Watts creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. If you are looking for a traditional Irish pub atmosphere then look no further. In the winter locals huddle round the open fire sipping Guinness and swirling sixteen year old whiskey. In the summer the enclosed Beer Garden is full to the brim with holiday makers drinking cider and sparkling rose. All this accompanied by live music all year round makes Jenny's perfect for any occasion. Jenny Watts also offers a full Bistro menu making it a very difficult place to leave. One tip from me, if you are going to Jenny Watts make sure you ask the friendly staff or locals if they have experienced any spooky happenings, I am sure they will not disappoint.

Its an old style pub with a lovely homely feeling and really is a cracking place to go and have a few pints or some red wine. It has a lovely wee beer garden/smoking area out the back that is brilliant craic on a summers evening and really adds to the ambience and atmosphere of Bangor's oldest pub. The decor is oldy worldy and the pictures on the wall must've started a million conversations. There is a club upstairs on a Saturday night but its for the older divorceé crowd so I've never been. There is usually some nice acoustic pub singers downstairs so thats enough for me.

I've had my fair share of memorable burgers from coast to coast in America, but just glancing at a picture of the beef shin burger transports me back across the pond to the Barking Dog. I remember the few days I spent in Belfast fondly and of the many memories, my meal at the Barking Dog was a definite highlight. In a rather quaint and charming neighborhood, I took a nice short stroll from my Airbnb and came across this gem of an establishment and decided I had to check it out. I had a nice beer to start, and it wasn't a Guinness because stouts aren't my thing, but whatever it was I remember it being excellent and local. Undoubtedly you could make this place a regular haunt and there is no shortage of drinks and food options to make this a go-to for a date, celebration, or a quick meal. The staff are welcoming, kind, and helpful and the general atmosphere is chill. The food for me was ethereal - a burger isn't just a burger here and what you get when you bite into the beef shin burger is a little slice of Heaven. Moist and tender are a given but the taste is just so divine with the caramelized onion, cheddar, and horseradish mayo melding into an union of perfection. It's hard not to describe one of the most memorable meals of my life in such hyperbole but the vivid recall I have of this particular place is uncanny and merits all the praise I can heap upon the fine folks that run the place. If timing had worked out, I would have eaten as meals here as I could have but I'll thank my lucky stars for at least giving me one opportunity to eat such a wonderful burger at such a wonderful eatery. A+ and a definite must when visiting Belfast.

It is cultivated for religious, medicinal and essential oil use especially in Auyurvedic medicine and is also used in traditional Hindu ceremonies. The Tulsi plant is not uncommon in many Hindu households- it is truly an elixir of life. The very name Tulsi personifies purity and authenticity and this was very evident in the whole experience, right from the decor, the welcome and hospitality to the intimacy of surrounds and of course the traditional and very authentic North Indian cuisine. There was also some fantastic live music by Noel. The four partners have certainly put a lot of love and effort into bringing Tulsi to our shores, having been in N Ireland for over ten years. Indeed Chef Ram is a seasoned campaigner and in race horse terms is a pure thoroughbred when it comes to professional and superb chef skills. He has had extensive training in major 5 Star Hotels in New Delhi and Hong Kong before coming to Belfast over ten years ago. His ethos is perfection in quality ingredients and cooking methods, always seeking out genuine, authentic menus. After a meet and greet drinks reception we were seated and served a sharing non veg platter consisting of: Samosa, mint chutney, malai chicken, chicken skewers with sweet chilli sauce, mixed vegetable pakora and lettuce-my mouth is watering as I write this!!!! This selection showed me that Chef had it spot on and that this was as good and genuine as the food I've eaten in India!! Roll on the mains.... For our main course it was buffet service and again we were spoilt for choice: Clockwise (viz picture) from the soft, fragrant garlic nan I had Thai vegetable curry, cucumber salad, butter chicken, ghosth bhuna, daal makhani, aloo gobhi all served on aromatic pilau rice. This was pure and wholesome with none of the excess oil, artificial colours and sugar which is evident in many restaurants near and far. We had a rich and delicious Gajar Ka halva, which is a carrot dessert and topped off the meal fittingly. In short the food was delicious, true and authentic.......so enough said pay them a visit and experience the real Indian Cuisine. I would argue that this is certainly in the top 5 proper Indian restaurants in Northern Ireland and has a huge thumbs up from me!!!
