The food isn't bad but the service was not great. It's the kind of place that's a chain and that does a lot of volume so you're only getting mediocre service and presentation but the food is good and the music makes up for it. A good spot if you're in Lapa and looking for an authentic Brazilian dinner and vibe.

Pavão Azul is famously known for their bolinho de bacalhau. It was perfectly crispy fried on the outside and the inside was filled with bacalhau which is otherwise known as cod. Its good on its own, but also very tasty with squeezed lime juice or with the use of the pimenta no azeite which is a chili pepper olive oil that I fell in love with during my entire stay in Brazil and had to have it on everything if it was available where I went. I also tried this drink we had a bottle of to share with the group - I believe it was called coquito which came in an old Smirnoff bottle. It is a milk cream drink - vodka, coconut milk, and condensed milk. I did not think I was going to like it as I don't care for milky or creamy things, but I do like trying new things and I really wanted to embrace everything while I was traveling. I ended up liking it, haha. It was not bad and I would try it again if I had the chance. This place was packed and very busy! We were there on a Thursday night. Being that our tour guide knew the staff, he was able to score a couple tables for our group. I loved the energy and vibe that was there that night - I did not want to leave it was so fun! Highly recommend coming here one night! Will be back for sure :D

Service was okay, it took forever to flag down a waiter to get a menu and they messed up our initial order. The bolinhos de bacalhau was a tad salty for my liking. (Vegas) B.G. is just one of the bars in this Baixo Gavea area that is part of a Mardi Gras-like street party and it's unlike anything you've probably ever seen if you're from the US. B.G. is not only the bar in the midst of this madness that I remember most clearly, but it's the one that had the quickest bathroom/bar lines and that's a big deal when you're at this amazing street party.
