Unfortunately my experience with this restaurant was most definitely not a good one. The service was very rude. Would not recommend.

There was a lot of hype heading into this place. Overall, this restaurant delivered, but not to the…read moreextent I thought it would. We had a three course tapas meal with strawberry ice cream for dessert. Our server suggested a bottle of Cava Pere Ventura white wine for us too. First course: 8/10 We were served three servings of small items on our plate. The first was a fish with goat cheese on top. There was definitely some superior dexterity in the preparation of this, as the fish was very precisely and thinly sliced. The second was duck breast. You could taste the distinct duck flavor here. They preserved the wiry, semi-coarse texture here. Probably my favorite of the three. Finally, there was a cup of (sorry I forget the name honestly), but it was kind of a strong, punchy green .. okay yeah it's very hard to describe without the ingredients in mind but it was so distinctive, I still remember the taste weeks later. A lil too strong for me but unique in concept. Second course: 7/10 I had the mackerel of the night. Crispy layer on the outside, pretty juicy on the inside. Good thing about the plate was that the mackerel wasn't too dry, like an average job would do. The zucchini and squash were actually the better part of the plate for me. Delicate layer of oil on top that gave it an extra hint of bouginess. Dessert: 7.5/10 Strawberry ice cream. The fruit itself was fresh and easy to chew (surprisingly hard to do well with frozen ice cream). Killed this cup in a hurry. Was it worth the price? Debatable if you ask me. This was for sure an expensive meal. But, the service was superb, and the place is a fine, indulgent place to dine. Overall, the food was fine, but it wasn't terribly memorable or life-changing to warrant a five star.

Same goes for the other so called "pintxos". It's an average place to go with you friends and have a beer. But it's definitely not what they are advertising. Short summary, very disappointed.

That's really important since the reason I don't frequent Llamas anymore (aside from the whole child thing) is that it's too packed to get a cocktail in a timely manner. Los Cojones has tons of seating (major plus in a busy bar and 4" heels), boozy but orderly patrons, and super nice bartenders - I knocked over a shot of tequila - oops! - and was promptly given another without asking. They make a mean Moscow Mule and my husband seems pleased with the beer selection. Vibe is low-key, music is high-tempo, and the crowd isn't unattractive or dominated by drunk under-25s. Very int'l crowd and easy to make new friends, chat with strangers, and dance around without a side-glance even though there's no dance floor. I really like it here. I think you will too. Major Pros: good drinks, good music, happy people (what!?), and good location (aka walking distance from my house in 4" heels). It's a local favorite for me. Go there. Flirt with the cute bartenders. Indulge in a shot or two. It's good times.

(it wasnt a problem but it's something to mention.) shrimp were ok. a little tough. they totally rely on their sauces, but the main ingredients were imho as bad as they come. this is ABSOLUTELY NOT what spain tastes like. i think the staff needs WAY more training. including chefs. but the problems go deeper. WHY USE CANNED MUSHROOMS WHEN FRESH ARE AVAILABLE??? and serving that crap "with pride??"

If I would have stayed in Helsinki longer, I would have definitely repeated this meal because it was seriously heavenly. I paired my meal with a Chilean strawberry sparkling wine, which was oh so good. I love the layout of this place. The tall glass windows let you gaze at the people on the street. People watching is a must when you're abroad and Casa Largo made it possible. It's very cozy and the staff is attentive. If you're visiting and don't mind spending a few bucks on a wonderful experience, I recommend this restaurant. :)
