Music is neither too loud nor too crazy ( lounge music) & you get a decent chair to sit & keep your honor (by not having to crowd others in a cramped space at the bar & stretch half way to the other side of the bar to get the bar tender's attention!) At points, it became laughable, like something you would see on Saturday Night Live, people trying to act suave who were the opposite of cool. After a long wait, we were served lousy but expensive cocktails. I asked the bartender where the bathrooms were, and he directed me downstairs. However, he neglected to tell me I needed a code. Thus, I was compelled to climb the stairs, return to the bar, and ask for the bathroom code. The decor was a unique, mid-century modern design, but who cared when the bar had no respect for its patrons or themselves.

Pretty hard to find if your just walking the streets in Gamla Stan but so worth it if you find it. Excellent drinks and while we were there, they had a beer special that was up my alley- so to speak. We also enjoyed some smoked salmon for an appetizer that was awesome as well. Some colorful lights and a large umbrella with some space heaters help to take the chill out of the late summer nights. And the bartenders were spot on with a drink or beer when needed. Just what we needed after some full days of walking through the historic town that is so full of great things to see. It's not often I want to try something a second time, but this space deserves a return trip.

For dessert there was a strawberry sambuca shake which was out of this world. I would definitely want to come back for dinner, but for a special occasion. The prices were a bit high (although I do think it's worth the price). Will definitely be back for drinks, though.

It's located in a hotel and used a different lift to get to the correct floor. We came in and rather loud disco music was playing. The bar was set up as a lounge which was great as they had a few different areas with booths, couches and chairs, etc. for us to relax in. The bartenders were both pretty easy to talk to and accommodating. Not sure if this is standard, but there was a police officer at the bar as well? They were good about walking around and telling everyone when last call was. They closed at 1:00 AM I think, which in that area of Sweden is pretty late. Most other places closed at 11:00 or 12:00. The view was pretty nice as it was on a higher floor, but the decor was pretty outdated. Like, early or mid 80's? Maybe even earlier than that? I don't know if the hotel is responsible for that or the business, but either way, it wouldn't hurt to update everything, or at least make the place completely retro. I'd probably pass on going here the next time I'm in Sweden.

Felt a bit like a college frat party. Almost skipped it, based on that underwhelming evening, but had to give it another shot late upon an icy and still midnight clear in January. Just amazing...Perfect soundtrack. Sat at the bar to watch the crew, which builds drinks with a bit of panache & showmanship. Started with their Whisky for the Holy Ghost and it was in fact a religious experience: Ghost bourbon, amaretto, Maurin Quina, bitters, salt and served in a chilled corked flask topped with smoke that lingered and really added to the ceremony & taste. My fellow penitents had tasty espresso drinks. It was the second round, however, that was truly memorable. I asked the mad genius behind the bar to concoct an extemporaneous "riff on a Sazerac." Maybe lost in translation, and ended up with more a riff on a vieux carre, but what a riff it was! Michters Rye, calvados in lieu of cognac, a healthy dose of some kind of floral bitters, a few other bitters and a sazeracky absinthe spritz. I enjoyed the infused water available at the front desk. The staff seemed more focused on making sure you were out of the gym area by its closing time than on refilling water in the gym. The cleaning man hung out in the women's room cleaning or whatever, some 20-25 minutes before closing on one evening, which kept my wife from being able to use the women-only sauna. The next night, the hotel had the nerve to send a 'security guard' or some authoritative figure to ensure we were out by closing. For clarity, we weren't aware of the closing hours for the gym the first night, and the cleaner informed us that the gym was closed; we'd just asked the front desk to turn on the sauna, and they'd said nothing about closing when acknowledging that we wanted to turn it on. Of the four nights we stayed, half of those had no water in the gym. There's no phone or way to contact the front desk for more, so more consistency in checking would be nice, at least as much care to kick out patrons trying to get in a post-exploration workout. Also, one day we asked for new towels; they left a stack on the counter, and left all of the dirty towels. They took that quite literally, but the implied task was to pick up the old towels left on the floor. Lastly, just a preference, but I like the double beds better than singles placed next to each other.

The only snafu was a bumpy check-in, where the really sweet front desk agent who checked us in apparently didn't check us all the way in. Seriously how does that happen? We signed, we put up the credit card for incidentals, we got keys, the tv had my name on it to welcome us and we spent the 1st night in the room with nothing seeming amiss, and upon disclosing our name and room number we were welcomed to the breakfast that next morning. But then that day we got a no-show charge via email and worried housekeeping would pack up our belongings with the room showing as unoccupied in their system, so upon our return from that day's interrupted activities we had to sort it out. They checked us in (again) but this time for realsies and they said the no-show charge was the same as the room charge so our 4-night stay became officially a 3-night stay. I'm still not sure if the rate stayed the same but it all seemed more or less fixed at the time... but now Marriott Bonvoy isn't giving me credit for the room night and the points so I'm still dealing with it weeks later which is crazy because we were there.
