Tinto e casa negre 4/5 - would recommend
Stella S.

Came here for a quick lunch before heading to the Heineken experience. Food 5/5 We ordered the chicken sandwich and burger which we would highly recommend. Super delicious! The burger had great texture and tasty sauces. We would definitely come back here next time we are in Amsterdam to try the tapas. Service & Atmosphere 5/5 We were in a rush and the waitress recommended that we order sandwiches. It was a great call! There is outdoor seating and indoor seating. The decor is nice.

We had some time to kill before our next adventure looking for something decent to eat we stumbled upon this place. Lovely seating area outside & since it was a nice day we sat outside, u can sit your self smart to catch the waitress right away this way u don't have to wait long once we got her attention we started with a pitcher of Red Sangria, good sangria nice taste. Food we tried the Gamba's al Ajillo .. wow these were delicious shrimp in garlic sauce nicely grilled shrimp amazing garlic sauce. Patatas Brava are simple roasted potatoes good with the dipping sauce better with the garlic sauce. & finally the Meatballs good as well, also better with that garlic sauce all these dishes seem to be the popular choices. Service was not bad, our waitress was nice prices are decent good place to eat, just sit & enjoy a nice day.

Yummy.. this place was a last minute find but did a great service on dinner. Being the first Spanish tapas restaurant I visited while in the Netherlands I was not sure on the quality. This place however was pretty good. The sweet potato dish I would pass. The garlic shrimp were great. The potato's bra as I wish was tossed in the sauce. The paella ... Do Not Skip this!!!! I would definitely settle for this again :)

Cheers! ;)

Love the music and cosy atmosphere! Nice cocktails. :) it was quite crowded since its a Friday night. The location is nice, at Heinekenplein, not far from central neither Leidseplein, the night life district. So it can be a nice warming-up for a Party-Friday-night! ;)

This place is sexy and fun, and while we went twice, we saw most people enjoying drinks and laughing with friends, and not so many dining. We chose three tapas the first time, patatas bravas (which I always have to try), croquettas (which my husband had never had) and one fried thing I really don't remember the name of and which I didn't care for anyway. The patatas bravas weren't spicy at all, but the fries themselves were fine. At least they led to an interesting conversation on the name ;) The croquettas were filled with meat and cheese and were delicious. We went back for those actually ;) For a safe bet on a sexy spot to enjoy some wine or mixed drinks and a snack, Barça is a good option. It's definitely more about the atmosphere/vibe than the restaurant anyway :) We liked it well enough. But it wasn't the best *food* we had on our trip to Amsterdam :)

Sangria de Cava - 1 liter: cava brut, orange, and green apple

Who would have thought I would have found my own little legit piece of Barcelona in the heart of the De Pijp? I was searching for a spot to indulge in libations and good food and I remembered I bookmarked this place during my last visit to AMS. Well, slap me naked, I walked right by it twice and didn't realize it. I felt like Nick and Norah searching for the elusive "Where's Fluffy?" pop up and could not find this restaurant for the life of me. I finally saw it, kicked up my leg Lola Flores style and clacked my castanets like the Flamenco princess that I am in my mind. Note that it is winter time, so it is COLD as fudge yet I almost succumbed to sitting on their beautiful patio on account of the awesome patio setting. It's complete with fire pits and it faces a really nice fountain so you can people watch. Then a cold breeze traveled through and it slapped sense into me so I actually went in. Once seated, a really sweet server approached me and asked me what I wanted to drink and I immediately asked for the Sangria de Cava (Catalonian white wine). Now, this sangria was bad to the bone and had me believing that hope (and myself) floats. Imagine the Cava base infused with chunks of apple, orange, and pineapple. Not only was it refreshing, but it is dangerous as it will have you drinking glass after glass like there is no tomorrow. One of my friends met up with me and we got to ordering from the tapas menu. We ordered Chorizo Salteados, Dátiles con queso y bacón, Pulpo, Calamares, and Tortilla de patatas. The show stopper for me were the dátiles con queso y bacon. The sweetness of the goat cheese stuffed dates complemented the smoked bacon exquisitely. These dates almost melted in my mouth! I love the natural taste of chorizo and I love the fact that it was not overseasoned, letting you really take in the complexity of the meat. The pulpo (octopus) was served chilled with cubed potatoes - ceviche style. It was extremely refreshing and the flavors were enhanced by the sangria. The tortilla de patatas is a classic for me and I love the fluffiness of the egg. It was a tad bland for my taste, but not bad. Once I added a little salt and pepper, I was on my way. The calamares were a bit overcooked for my taste and borderline rubber-like consistency. Out of the 5 dishes this was my least favorite and I might stay away from it in the future just because there are sooo many other dishes I would rather try. Overall, one of the best restaurants I have been to in Amsterdam in terms of quality, ambiance, and service.

Horrible, I asked for a Sangría and they gave me an apple, an orange a bottle of red wine. I'm not making this up, I'm attaching a photo to prove it. It's insulting, don't go to this place.

Paella!

Didn't think I would end up eating Spanish food on my trip to Amsterdam but we really enjoyed this place. The outdoor atmosphere is great! We really enjoyed the paella, the roasted potatoes and the sangria. The sauce with the potatoes was amazing. It was a garlic aoli of some sort. I would definitely suggest this place.

The tapas on the menu are typical Spanish, finding the ones that you would see in any average Spanish bar. Tia Rosa just made and presented them in a way that was not average. Both the presentation, with side salads, herbs and sauces made the tapas really nice and tasty. Besides that the service and the location are of the best you can get. Being situated on one of the nicest canals in Amsterdam centre, with the bridges lighted and barely any cars passing by, makes your diner even more special. The waiters very kind and accommodating. Overall a good experience and a good place to eat tapas. Note: even a Spaniard agrees with this!

Appetizers came first and the first thing that surprised me was that the calamari came in one huge piece. I loved the olive oil and pesto sauce that coated the calamari and it tasted fresh with just the right amount of chewiness, not too rubbery. I'd highly recommend this dish. The smoked ham appetizer was really just a slightly thicker version of prosciutto that still tasted quite good. Ham was extremely flaky and so different compared to American processed ham. The main dish was the fish and meat paella. There is all sorts of seafood in the paella, calamari, clams, mussels, shrimp, crawfish, and the meat is mostly just chicken. The rice is slightly tough, but didn't stick to one another. Seafood all tasted fresh and thankfully nothing was overcooked. The paella was quite large and extremely filling for 2. I'd caution ordering any other main dishes along with the paella.

I happily enjoyed the slightly toasted bread with the yummy home-made allioli that brought back memories of Spain. That's how an aioli's supposed to taste, it was certainly the best I had so far in Amsterdam. And also the main, Solomillo a la plancha, was fully to my taste, I really enjoyed these 2 tender, juicy steaks. The staff is genuinely friendly. Not the typical Spanish exuberant-vocal friendly but definitely makes you feel welcome and want to come back.

Upon arrival, we didn't feel welcomed even checking in with a reservation. We asked for outside seating but they said they reserved us inside seating either at the bar or at the bar shelf by the window at the entrance door. Immediately, my husband and I felt that this was very much a locals place and they very much don't want tourists. (I get it, coined flipped, I live in South Florida) We decided to take the 2 bar seats on the quiet side of the bar. It gave us a view to the kitchen, which was the best part of the meal. I could see the absolute passion from the guys in the kitchen cooking and plating their love for food. Too bad the rest of the service from the bar was less than stellar. I probably wouldn't come back but I would recommend anyone local to check it out for the food above all. The clams had a wonderful broth that I wish there was a basket of bread to soak up the juice left over from the chorizo crumbles and meaty little clams. The skewers of roasted chicken thighs were crispy and well seasoned on the outside while being tender and juicy on the inside. So simply yet so complex. Just wish the service was more complex, or at least friendly.
