I told Emily about my pain and she was quick to tell me the benefits of massage and how it WOULD make a difference. I won't lie, I didn't give it much hope but I do enjoy relaxation so I didn't see the downside to trying. I have fibromyalgia so I'm very sensitive to deep pressure. It feels like punching bruises and I explained my concerns to her before the massage. She was very open to my concerns and works with clients living with all kinds of pain ailments so I felt like she understood. During the massage, I could tell that she has some very strong hands. But she checked in with me continuously to ensure that it wasn't too much pressure, and adjusted her pressure when necessary. After the massage was over I was a little sore but the following day I felt less pain, which is a minor miracle. I immediately called a booked another appointment with her. She is so great! One thing I want to mention that I really love about Emily and Birch Grove is that it is a safe space for the queer community. Everyone, queer or not, is welcome. If you or someone you know is working on, struggling with, or even confident in their gender identity Emily provides a great space to express yourself in a really positive way. There is no judgement there. Only kindness, acceptance, compassion and laughter. Can you tell I love this place? Make an appointment. You won't regret it.
