They have incredible equipment that takes very detailed images that show much more than what my dentist could see on an x ray. After examining the scans and images and doing some diagnostic tests, Dr. Eslinger told me that there's a good chance that my tooth is beyond needing a root canal. He gave me the option to continue or have it extracted elsewhere. Talk about honesty and integrity!! I think most dentists would have just done it and taken my money with no regard for the final outcome. Additionally, the staff was so kind and friendly. They have a mini fridge available with waters in the waiting room and a coffee station. Once called back, the appointment felt rushed. I had imaging done and then had a 2-3 minute interaction with Dr. Max. There was no discussion of options, risks, etc. I was prescribed an antibiotic and told to schedule the next two appointments for root canal retreatment. I was a bit disoriented. I did as asked but eventually cancelled those two follow up appointments and scheduled with a different practice with more time for patient care and education.

The doctor was second to none this time again. My wife didn't feel a thing during procedure or today. Dr. Max asked her how she was feeling every step of the way during his 1.5-hour procedure. He explained every step and every X-Ray and scan before, during, and after the treatment (several X-Rays and CT scans), and he patiently answered our (especially my) every question (and I had many of them). How amazing is that?! He is so gentle, kind, and caring! SECOND TO NONE! 2023: I just found out that Dr. Max opened his new Grayslake Endodontics practice, and I decided to share our experience. Odontophobia has not gone away. It'll never go away- I promise!…read more So I was taking my morning meds, and a gummy vitamin pulled off my crown. Panic set in! I inspected the crown and it didn't look damaged. (Props to my former work friend's husband. Not a former friend, just a friend who is now retired. Anyway, her husband created the crown). Luckily, they were able to cement the crown back on, and I just have to lay off the hot bevs, crispy crunchies, and sticky caramels for 24 hours. And then, and then -- I'm going to guzzle hot java, eat crunchy toffee and carrots and ice cubes. JK, JK. See y'all in a few months.

Couldn't be more happier with the result of root canal.( All the issues with tooth were fixed in just one previous visit ) ************************************************************ Below more details: ( For patients whoever want to know more) The Situation with my tooth was complicated (before root canal).. During the first visit , Dr. Burgener immediately point out there was serious Periodental Pocket around the tooth..If it is left untreated.. The tooth probably can not be saved eventually (even after root canal)... From that moment , I realize why she become Excellent Surgeon..(Looking at the root causes of a issue, foresee all other problem in the mouth that will cause future root canal failure...) Gum issues/ Disease is a different function(Periodentist) I was expecting her to say " After Root canal.. Suggest to see Periodentist) But she never say anything like that... To my surprise, As a talented Endodontist, She come up with a creative solution( Special filling with medication to cover the gum area).. So here I am , Within 2 Weeks after root canal.. My Gum @ that Problem tooth area come back( almost fully recovered) As we all know, Periodental pockets / Disease are difficult to treat...and very very slow recovery.. or in certain cases.. Can not be reversed at all. I feel I owe Dr Burgener a Big "Thank you".. She fix both the tooth problem( Root canal) and Periodental issue( Gum Pocket) in one visit for root canal.
