I completely understood that I was missing a document, so I left to retrieve it and came right back. Unfortunately, when I returned, the experience was the complete opposite. I was helped by a woman named Larissa, and her customer service and overall demeanor were extremely unpleasant. From the moment I sat down, I felt judged and unwelcome. I explained that I had already been there earlier and told her what I had been instructed to do. Her response was, "Well, I don't know who helped you. We have a lot of people who work here." Instead of trying to understand the situation or help me figure out the next step, it immediately felt like she was trying to get me out of her office. She then asked if I had brought the lease packet with me. I told her I hadn't brought it because I was under the impression that I had returned with what I needed. She responded by telling me that she couldn't move forward from there. At that point, I asked, "Can we at least start the application?" Only after I asked did she agree to begin the process, but even then, her attitude made it seem like helping me was an inconvenience. The entire interaction felt unnecessarily dismissive and uncomfortable. What made the experience especially disappointing was the drastic difference between my first interaction and my second. I completely understand that policies and documentation requirements have to be followed--that was never the issue. My issue was the way I was spoken to and treated. I came in simply trying to complete the process and was more than willing to provide whatever documentation was required. A little patience, professionalism, and basic courtesy would have made this a completely different experience. No customer should be made to feel like they are a burden simply for asking for assistance.
