We didn't have to worry about a thing; if an issue came up (as is normal with this scope of work), it was handled right away. Communication was top notch and we couldn't love the final result more! Because of that, we didn't think twice about contracting them when we wanted our garage painted, the floor epoxied, and a cabinet installed in our dining room. If this had been our first experience, it would have been our last. Frankly, we wouldn't even had made it past the quoting process. Communication was terrible and it took far too long (especially compared to the first project that was MUCH more involved). Erik was our carpenter for the kitchen remodel and is not only top notch at his craft, but is such a genuinely nice person that we requested him for this project. Thank goodness because he saved the day numerous times! He also communicated our issues to Jeff, who jumped right on to fixing whatever he could and trying to make everything right. Everything turned out beautifully (thank you, Erik), but if it hadn't been for the two of them and our previous positive encounter, this would be a two star review.

Amy was our sells rep and helped us through the process and selection of all the materials and choices. Never felt any pressure from her at all. Erick was the lead and did most of the remodeling. His skills were outstanding and he takes pride in his work and customer satisfaction. We added a built in cabinet which opened in the master bedroom and bumped into unused space in a wall in the bathroom. We were quoted a reasonable price and Erik custom built, stained, and installed the unit on site. His skills as a carpenter really shows and my wife is ecstatic with the removable shelves and the new storage space. Thanks to his skills the bathroom came out perfectly. Schafer Brothers are not cheap but the quality of both the work and the processes make the cost worthwhile. We now have a bathroom for my son that will last, that he loves, and my wife has the extra storage space she has been wanting.

When he came to the house (right on time) to do the job that I had hired him for (carpentry work), I told him about other issues that I also needed to take care of in the house (some plumbing work, tiles that needed to be replaced, kitchen cabinets that needed to be installed, a bathroom that needed to be updated, electrical outlets that needed to be changed). He included actual photos of his prior work, responded to my calls/texts immediately, and arrived on time or early as promised. A prior contractor absolutely butchered the tile in my shower surround. He was great at general carpentry but I almost ended up in divorce court over the shower. Jeff came in and appraised the job, quoted a fair price, and set starting and ending dates. When he got here he immediately got to work demolishing the old work. He gave us a briefing every day before work and at the end of each day. He is fast, accurate, and above all CLEAN. He made sure that we were not walking on bits of old tile, drywall, or miscellaneous garbage. We had a certain accent tile selected from the original job but Jeff gave us a humble opinion about changing the tile. This actually worked so much better, fitting in with the room a lot more. The job took just under a week and we are very happy with the results. I would totally recommend him to anyone. He also told us that he does general carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. When I win the lottery I will hire him to re-do our badly outdated kitchen.

I initially agreed to choose THI for my project due to the good reviews online and recommendation from my designer who thought it would be easier to have THI be my contractor since I was already ordering cabinets and tiles from them. My initial consultation with the owner, Aaron Glenn, was great. He seemed to understand the entire scope of the project but ultimately fell short at time of contract signing. There were significant discrepancies, and I felt like I was gaslit on multiple occasions. This company subcontracts almost all of its work which resulted in major inconsistent quality and communication issues. Major delays occurred due to incorrect supply orders and measurements, and the company (Aaron) showed absolutely no willingness to offer apologies, sympathies or compensation for these setbacks. The most concerning aspect was his unprofessional and unethical behavior regarding a final punch list of incomplete tasks and a remaining balance of $2000 of a total $138,000 project. He demanded payment onsite without providing an updated invoice and even threatened to dismantle my kitchen if immediate payment was not made via credit card. He was assured multiple times that payment would be sent after final work was assessed by my designer, just as I have been doing for the $135,000 of work previously completed but he refused to leave my home. I ultimately filed a police report and am still contemplating legal action as he has threatened to put liens on my property. Based on these experiences, I would NOT recommend Total Home Improvement, LLC. If you decide to still pursue this company, make sure you get everything from the owner in writing during your initial consultation. It is critical you have him sign a delay of work contract (clause dealing with delay in performance) and a waiver of lien so he cannot threaten you as he has done with me. If he refuses, that is a red flag, and you should reconsider this company. Good luck on your renovation project and God speed!

Andy returned once to repair the family room wall, screw in cover plate,attempt to repair kitchen ceiling. I was to go looking for door to replace the door that was painted in error. I did to help move the completion of the job along. He purchased door which needs to be cut down to proper height then stained. That is still undone along with second attempt to texture kitchen ceiling. He attempted to redo windows which still would not slide on tracks correctly. I had to hire someone else to do the work. He has stated several times he does not have the time to keep coming back to make me happy. If the work was done correctly and all finished he would not have to keep coming back. I have waited over a month to have everything done correctly. Messaged several time trying to get job finished to original way it looked for a job he has been pain in full. He has several life problems and now stated he bought door and i will just have to find someone else to repair ceiling and cut door down and stain. Sam is truly a Class Act…read more Having been through our fair share of harrowing and disappointing experiences with handymen and contractors in the past, we were extremely wary as we got started with our kitchen remodel planning process. As a matter of due diligence, we invited 10 contractors to propose a quote. For one, Sam's estimate was very competitive and reasonable (compared to other quotes). More importantly, he quickly grasped what our overall objectives were for the space, and proactively made some great suggestions that gave us the confidence that he was in sync with our requirements. As with most customers that go through a major remodel, my wife and I went back and forth on our choices for the cabinets and countertop, and not once did Sam flinch or pushback. On the contrary, there were certain additional items that were not part of our initial discussions (and estimate) that Sam voluntarily brought up and offered to do for us (at no additional cost) despite knowing that it would mean additional labor to him. Aware that we had wanted the remodel to be completed before Christmas as were hosting a party at home, Sam spent most of Christmas eve literally rolling up his sleeves and working non-stop for over 8 hours (without even meal breaks) and left only after he personally cleaned up the space. It is not always easy for small business owners to consistently put 'customer service' ahead of profits, but that is exactly what I observed of Sam, time and again. He did not accept the final payment until he was certain that we were 100% happy with the final outcome. I do not believe I have ever written such a long review for anyone, and that is hopefully a testimony to Sam's work. We cannot be more delighted with our new kitchen and I am happy to share some pictures. We look forward to working with Sam again on our future home projects.
