Better count your peppers before you order! This place has got spice! And you will not find a runny, sugary peanut sauce on the menu. Hallelujah! I have been to Bangkok Vienna often, and keep returning with new people to surprise. The service is friendly and the place is always packed for dinner! They have a large non-smoking section and you better call ahead for a reservation. You cannot call until about 5pm; however, you can leave a message and they will call to confirm later. They are also closed on Mondays. Not caring so much for extreme spice, I am a fan of the traditional chicken/coconut soup (Tom Kah Gai), one spice pepper rating, and the Rice noodles with shrimp and peanuts (Phad Thai Gung). My friends and husband have been more brave and have enjoyed the spicy curries and appetizers as well. Have your large glasses of water on hand. The sauces pack a mighty punch! Since the portions are decent, not overwhelming, and reasonably priced, I always enjoy a dessert. The fried ice cream is my favorite and comes with a fiery show of its own! Warning- do not put the spoon directly into your mouth after stirring a hot flame of alcoholic ice cream- it will burn your mouth- i know... from experience. But it tastes amazing! Bangkok Vienna is a nice Thai restaurant with good food. The food is tasty but not authentic at all. For appetizers, I tried the papaya salad and chicken satay. The papaya salad was actually spicy as requested and refreshing. The chicken satay was okay. The chicken was not grilled and the peanut sauce was not very good. For my main course, I tried the chicken fried rice. I requested to add basil to my rice and the server did not even know what I meant by basil. That's where I started to get a little scared. The rice ended up being pretty tasty though. I also tried the pad kee mao which was yummy too. In both of these dishes, there was too much chicken and veggies with very little rice and noodles. I think if the proportions were more even the dishes would have been better. The chicken gaprow is also another delicious dish. Not authentic but great combination of flavors. Overall, the food here is good for a place like Vienna where limited Thai options exist. Therefore I give it four stars. However if this restaurant was in the US or Thailand, it would be rated 2 or 3 stars due to its lack of authenticity read more

This was simply one of the best eating experiences I've had in Vienna. First of all lets start off with the food: I had the chicken satay sticks with peanut butter sauce. Something I've had more times than I'd like to admit but these were my favourite of all time. The peanut butter sauce was mixed with chilli and was an amazing interpretation. For main course I cleverly avoided anything spicy (as I always tend to order the spicy dishes and end up sweating my ass off.) and went for the sweet and sour pork with rice. Also a dish I've had far to often but until now never really found perfected. Until now! It was sensational thats all I can say. A huge plate of pork with vegetables mixed in a fantastic sweet and sour sauce. Both plates were beautifully decorated and very well presented. Care is taken with the food here, its not just dumped on the plate. And next the service: From beginning to end there was not a single thing I could fault with anything. Menus were quickly provided and we didn't have to wait too long for the order to be taken. Drinks were presented promptly and the starters followed shortly afterward. Plates were cleared quickly and the main course followed right away. We were asked 2 or three times if everything was ok and every time the only answer we could give was "Yes, fantastic!" After the meal we were presented with warmed towels to clean our hands and faces which is something you see rarely if ever these days. And then after declining desserts as we were far too full we were given a small digestive drink and the bill. Just great! I had to check the bill twice however because I couldn't believe we had to pay so little for so much food and incredible service but it was all there. I urge you to frequent this restaurant as in my opinion its one of the best places to have a good meal with great service in Vienna! read more

This was easily the food of choice for our Thai group, the food was respectable but on the pricey side. The flavors weren't 100% authentic but good enough for us to go back twice. The atmosphere is pretty awesome. The service was friendly and inviting. The people who actually own the place are Thai, so that is kind of a stamp of approval for me, I hate to say it. Please for the love of the King and Queen of Thailand, Stay Away! Don't let this place ruin even an hour of your vacation. I've never had to walk out on a restaurant before...until this place. We had a party of 4, and which such good yelp reviews, we thought we would check it out. Huge mistake. We sat down, ordered food and drinks. The drinks came and couple of the beers were of the wrong size, okay, no big deal. Let's just wait for our food. So we waited. And waited, And waited. After about 30 minutes ( we were pretty patient), we decided to ask them to check on our food. And waited. Meanwhile, tables that came after us are eating. Close to an hour have passed since we ordered, out comes our waitress with a beef salad when we had ordered chicken salad (appetizer!). "Uhhh... sorry but we ordered chicken salad..." Dumbfounded, the waitress kept saying "oh this is beef, do you want it?" Seriously? We waited an hour and you are trying to push the wrong food in our faces without so much as an apology? We got up that instant, paid for the drinks and got out. Mind you this was now 10:30pm and most other places have closed. I've never been so angry. read more

This restaurant is GOOD! All of the food is super arroy! My husband is from Bangkok, so finding good Thai food is a must for him. I have to say that the food at this restaurant is comparable to food in Thailand. They use the right ingredients. Thai chili peppers, fresh bamboo shoots, Thai basil and cook it in a way that is perfection. We ordered E7, a duck curry dish that was 10 stars! It even had lychees in it and pineapple slices. It was soo good that I could've eaten another dish! I ordered gai gapow, which was super spicy but the flavors were so tasty. Just about the best Thai food you can get in Vienna, in my experience. I had Shrimp Pad Thai and my friend had the Thai Basil Tofu- marked as somewhat spicy, but I assured her it wouldn't be too spicy in Vienna- unfortunately I was wrong it was way too spicy for her tastes. The tofu was a great texture and everything was fresh. I especially enjoyed the little hand towels and drinks included in the service after we were done eating. A nice touch! read more

If you like Red thai curry (coconut milk curry), this is a great place to enjoy it, I haven't tried the other dishes, so I can't comment on those. I've been here 3 times, the price-quality ratio is pretty good, the rice portion given for the curry is rather small but you can always ask for an extra bowl of rice. For reference (not trying to brag), but I've been 3 times to Thailand, and ate at very expensive Thai restaurants like 'Patara', so I sort of know what good Thai curry tastes like. read more

The ambiance was really good. The music was relaxing. Service was amazing. The food serving I think was really generous. I had to order extra rice for my dish because it was so good and a lot. I wouldn't order their Thai iced tea again though because I had better ones with more tea than milk (just my personal preference). I did however had a really good experience there. Great food with a good price, and a nice atmosphere. The lighting is dim and the interior is dark wood. I went with my friends for a birthday and it was the perfect place. There was a another table next to us also celebrating a birthday and it felt very festive. As an appetizer we had Thod Man Gai, a chicken piece dish, and that was okay but a bit dry. For my meal I had the Pad Thai Gai, which I would definitely reccommend. It's always hard to go wrong with Pad Thai, and I wasn't in the mood this night to take a risk. My friend was a little riskier and got the Kuai Tiaw Gaeng, which is a noodle soup made with coconut milk, curry, and seafood. I tried it, and it was amazing. My other friend got the Pad KhiMao, Mu-Gai-Gung, which I thought tasted funkay and was way too spicy. For dessert we had fried bananas with honey, which was my first time having such a thing. To be there isn't any air con... But it is the only thing we could reproach to this awesome Thai restaurant. The food is delicious, the waiters both friendly and respectful, the room beautifully laid out in Asian style... The menu is amazing, it will be hard for you to choose what you are gonna order! They have starters, salads, meat/fish/sea foods/vegetarian dishes... And it is full of flavors. So after reading all the other reviews currently on Yelp for this place, I would agree and disagree with a few. Here is the full on review considering other reviewer's previous experience, and that I really do love Thai food. 1. The Place One of the nicest restaurant environments in Vienna, it is a fairly large restaurant but you do not feel that the tables are too close to each other and you are eating with your neighbor. However, do make a reservation if you go because it does fill up. Music is upbeat (not necessarily stereotypical Asian restaurant music), low enough to enjoy, without it being the center of attention that you need to shout over to speak to your friends. Lighting more than enough to see your food, but not so bright so a bit soothing. Classy enough feel to make it a good first date dinner place. 2. The bathrooms Did not have the sticky floor experience as another fellow Yelper, and everything seemed relatively clean (and yay there was plenty of liquid soap!). I was surprised by the array of magazine options they place in this area, and the bathroom door is not clearly indicated, so just know its next to the bar section, at the base before the second set of stairs going... who knows where. 3. The service Pretty friendly, attentive enough without being annoying, and our food arrive relatively fast. We did no have to wait for drinks either. Every once in a while we did need to grab the attention of the wait staff (there were so many I do not know who was our actual waiter at the end), but rather that then a waiter coming over all the time pushing us. Also, you get a nice towel cloth to clean your hands after the main course. Bill came fairly quickly after requested. Granted we were not there on a specially busy night. Also, little lychee prosecco free when you pay is a nice touch. 4. The food, drinks and prices Let's start with the easy part. Tea at 2.70 Euros is a really nice price in Vienna nowadays, and big aperol sprtizers at 3.80 Euros was superb. However, I did really feel my head the next morning for a bit. The food: Honestly I was really surprised when I read the other reviewers noting how hot the food was. I was literally eating into the peppers and did not need any rice, and felt our food missed that extra something to take it to the next level. Granted the food is not fried and it seems they use everything relatively fresh, however it was not very hot when served temperature wise, very little duck on the plate, and both dishes missed that extra push to 5 stars, which I think a plate at around 13.00 Euros should reach. There are of course cheaper options (around 10 Euros), basically there is curry, thai basil, bamboo chili options for fish, chicken, beef, shrimp or vegetarian, some soups, some rice dishes. Overall, its ok. The food prices are a bit high for what I ate, but the drink prices balanced it out. Ambiance is fairly nice and you won't eat badly. read more

Found this place on Yelp during a weekend trip to Vienna and I am so glad that we did! We arrived fairly early in the evening and didn't have a reservation but were seated immediately. Had we arrived even 15 minutes later this may not have been the case so I would recommend a reservation on the weekends. The green curry and sautéed vegetables with tofu were fantastic. We just ate here and are trying to shake off the horrible experience that this place was. Service was absolutely terrible and was topped off with a padded check. Meal was awful. The first Thai place I've tried in Vienna. The food, atmosphere and waiters were good. I was initially sat near the washroom entrance because they were pretty full, but was soon moved to a nicer table. I ordered the Thai soup with chicken, and it was very tasty. I ordered the classic Chicken Pad Thai, and it was pretty good. Nice serving size. Each plate came with a rose on the plate, which was interesting. Before we left, we got a towel to wash our hands, and also a small glass of prosecco. Overall a good experience, we will go again. read more

This is a difficult thing to say, coming from NYC where we pride ourselves on a phenomenal variety of Thai options - but Bangkok was without question the best Thai food that I, or my best friend, have ever had. He had the larb with pork and twice told the waitress it was the best he's ever eaten. I had the chicken with fried egg noodles and it was savoury, full of mixed veggies, and had just a glimmer of spice to make it more than just another simple Thai noodle dish. I can't say enough about it. The service was friendly, prompt, and the most attentive we've had anywhere on our travels in Prague or Vienna so far over the course of a week. And for anyone who feels it's a bit pricey, I don't know where you're usually ordering from, but their options are perfectly reasonable, especially for the generous portion sizes.
