This restaurant is located in Bondi, the location is really good and is convenient for anyone who's craving for some Bangkok street food. However, we feel that it's not the best Thai food around. We ordered the grilled roast duck egg noodles in duck broth, seafood feast and chicken satay. The food isn't too bad but it's not the typical authentic rich Thai food. Delicious! Everything seemed really fresh and like it had been cooked right then rather than sitting around for a bit. We loved everything we had, and they let you bring in your own wine! Found this great little place in Bondi beach. To be honest, we went to 5 other places before this one, but everything was packed with a 1hr wait. This place was also packed, but they are super quick so the wait was about 5 minutes. They have a pretty big menu with all the thai classics. We had pineapple fried rice and a couple of other dishes which I can't remember right now. The food was good and the service was friendly and quick. Fun, fresh and delicious! I never bothered coming to Bangkok Bites because I thought it was just another Thai restaurant in Bondi with the same menu, flavour and ambience as its predecessors... Somewhere along the way Thai restauranteurs found a formula that worked in Sydney and they haven't budged from it since! (give or take a little ambience/quality etc... and hey, the formula works for me so I'm not really complaining!) Bangkok Bites is different... and I loved it. On a warm Sunday evening, the restaurant was buzzing with busy waiters, chatty patrons and glowing-in-the-heat chefs.. all moving under dimmed lights and street-vibe decor that is the first giveaway that this place has a little spunk! I was genuinely shocked to find the menu isn't a cut-and-paste, standard Thai menu. There are certainly "standard" items that you'll find in most Thai restaurants but each dish has a little twist and there are some excellent additions (and substitutions... I went for Corn Fritters in place of my usual Vegie Spring Rolls as an entrée... awesome!). Food was plentiful (too much for me!) and delicious. Staff were attentive and friendly. Man I miss great Thai food!! I first became aware of Bangkok Bites after walking by it on my way to the beach. I noticed an intoxicating aroma and said to myself, I must try this place. Later on the same day a friend of mine suggested it for us to get dinner at. We ordered the Lucky Duck and Lemongrass Lamb entrees and they were outstanding!! The Lucky Duck (love how it's served in a halved pineapple) had a real depth of flavor and the Lemongrass Lamb had a wonderful meaty taste to it that brings out the inner carnivore. It was lightly charred, tender, juicy. The accompanying vegetables and sauces were delicious too. Service was very nice, atmosphere was hip, and I would definitely return here again and explore all their menu has to offer. read more

My experience was not a good one. If there was a zero star option I would choose it for this restaurant. I ordered the satay chicken. I took one bite of the chicken and it was half raw. I showed the waiter and ask if I could switch it with spring rolls. The waiter came out with 2 tiny spring roll which just pushed me to the limit so I paid and I had to leave. The ambience of this place definitely reminds me of being in Bangkok, it's loud and bustling with the chefs banging pots and pans in the open style kitchen, the waiters bustling up and down the narrow walkway and customers engaging in lively conversation. It makes for a great place to come for a fun night with friends, but take your date somewhere else if you want a romantic dinner! Food is reasonably priced and it's byo, with a $2 corkage per person. We got the corn fritters and salt and pepper squid for entrees and the papaya salad with soft shell crab and chicken pad thai for mains. The food was good but not amazing. As the previous reviewer said they have a good variety of dishes on the menu that add a twist to traditional Thai fare so I think I'll be back to try some different things. read more

I only give this place 1 star since they served something on a plate to me, but I'm not sure I would call it food. I ordered chicken Pad Thai, but the chicken wasn't cooked all the way & the noodles tasted like they reheated them from the day before. Delicious! Went in with no expectations and this place blew us away. First time we ordered the holy chick, peanut chicken and pad Thai with coconut rice. We liked it all so much we went back a second night and Ordered the pad Thai with prawns and the holy chick with coconut rice again. Even our 1 year old ate everything in site. Hmmmm this was probably the most boring and worst Thai food I have ever had (take away). I love Thai food but not from this place. The flavors weren't genuine or fresh. Felt like a cup noodle from 7/11. Had three different dishes and they all just tasted as if a novice had made them. The rice was mushy and watery and sticky and not in a good way. The green curry had a weird artificial taste, so did the tofu, and it was not creamy at all. Almost just like a broth. The beef in the beef salad was not tender and the portion was pretty small. The massaman curry was the "best" but still kind of clumsy. The place is really lound and they accept cash only. First time going to Bangkok Bites last weekend (late Oct 2015) and I'd heard good things. Went with a group of friends, everyone was having a good time, place had good energy. Waiter came over and I politely asked about what vegan options they might have for me. He shook his head looking as uninterested as I've ever seen a waiter. I'm used to simplifying my diet choices to new restaurants, so I point as a few options on the (massive, confusing, hideously designed, small novel of a) menu, such as the tofu & veggies etc, and he shook his head saying "Fish sauce. Oyster sauce." I half-expected that, I was in a Thai place after all. I politely asked, trying to spark some imagination into him, whether they could make something (anything!?) without the fish/oyster sauce and just use soy (or satay, or use-their-imagination-you're-a-restaurant-sauce). He shook his head and without looking at me, snatched the menu from my hands and walked off. Leaving me to watch my 7 friends eat and me sit with only a glass of water. Pathetic service, I've never experienced anything like it, and I've never felt compelled to leave a review before. Anyone going to Bangkok Bites should be aware that they won't be made to feel like a valued customer whatsoever, unlike every other place I've been to in Bondi Beach (my home). Over rated. Service is horrible. Waiters are rude. Food is so so sweet. And they only accept cash! Been there 3 times, and will never go back again. Waited 30 mins for 1 takeaway noodles, to ask the waiter how long more will it be, as I could of done something while waiting, which is fine. But his response was so rude I had to walk out. Walking around Bondi one night and we managed to find this street food (served in a sit down restaurant) haven. The food was as bright and flavoursome as the interior of the place. The prices are what you would expect from this establishment and you will get your money's worth. Worst Thai I've had in a very long time. No flavour in any of the meals that my friends and I ordered. Ordered the chilli basil and it wasn't spicy whatsoever. The food wasn't fresh. The shrimp in the papaya salad tasted like it was days old. The entrees were bland as hell. The corn fritters were too doughey and sweet. This would have to be the worst service I have ever had at any eatery. Its so noisy you can't even hear yourself think let alone what the wait staff are saying to you. You ask them to repeat and repeat and still you can't understand them. We ordered green tea, which after 10 minutes of waiting we asked the tea from 3 different staff finally 20 min later it arrived. We had a lovely cockroach crawl its way down the wall near my head. On a plus the food wasn't bad, nice flavours and super quick.
