Went on a Friday and the caller was obnoxious! Too many extra pull tab games in between bingo. Plan to be there REALLY late!

I've been here maybe a total of 4 times and the most recent time was when it was still warm out. It seems like River City has plenty of parking even w/o a garage... wait, maybe there is a garage and I've never needed to use it. I haven't patronized the Italian restaurant Cibare in a few years, but each time I've eaten really well there. The machines did not pay out much for us last time. I don't even care whether I'm up or down at the end of the day. I just want the machines to DO something for a minute. But it was not my day. The auditorium area had one of those giveaways for... I don't know who those are for because I don't do that much at a casino. I have nothing much to say, do I? It's a fine casino. As clean as a smoky-smelling place can be. I'm guessing I'll be back within the next couple of years.

The casino has an extremely bad smoking smell which drifts out into the entry that you must walk thru to get in. They only have one service center/cashier. Not the most friendly people. They really push the "Penn Play" their reward program but make it very difficult to use We had a problem and they gave us a phone number to call and they were not any help. I guess if you are in South St Louis and fell the need to play slots of use a few gaming tables you might want to go. Extremely slow service in the restaurants we tried on site. They use a little robot to deliver food. Highlight was Judy's lounge where the bartender was great. Just a so so experience. I doubt if we would stay there again

The Casino has an actual no-smoking area upstairs. The main bar downstairs we have checked out and hung out in to sip a few cocktails and the BF played the slot game at the bar. Parking is plentiful and there are cameras everywhere. I hate the entry way inside to go to the elevators, both just give you that dirty disgusting vibe. Once you reach the inside of the casino and hit the brick floor the vibes are a little better. The casino offers plenty of options for eats from a steakhouse to a cafe and bakery, a grille and the above mentioned spots and more. The game room is OK. We played Halo the entire time since it's our favorite game. The drinks in the bar are cool depending on the bartender you chose. Asia serves some good eats, they are pretty expensive but the chefs are legit. I have hit-n-miss experiences with the bakery/cafe when trying their selections, so venture at your own risk. I really only come here when the BF suggest and it's just a pit stop for us to either begin our night or end our night.

As for the hotel, we didn't like adjoining rooms next to strangers and the people to our other side played loud music but we didn't want to cause any issues. As you can see the tub had poor drainage so as I showered the water just kept getting higher, I finally got out at ankle high. Rooms themselves weren't anything special or different from any other hotel. Housekeeping did knock to clean our room as we were there 3 nights but when we returned our beds weren't made up but she did leave fresh towels. Entrance was very nice but I did wish they had something open to eat at other than the pretzel joint after 12am, I mean come on it's a casino that's opened 24/7!

I'm telling you this because there is no way I would go back to any poker series or poker room that I didn't like. My experience here was excellent. I wouldn't say it was exciting--if you want that go to the Horseshoe down the road. For the Hollywood Casino, it's a really chill middle-class type vibe, which is what I love. You're not going to find many pretentious jerks or low-vibrational people here. It's right smack in the middle. This applies to the staff and patrons. The food here is good. In fact, that is the best noodle bar I have had in any casino. For the sports bar, the food is probably average, but the energy and staff make up for that. It's a great place to get a beer and a burger and relax. I didn't eat at the fancy Italian place because I'm not wealthy. I was once wealthy, and I was once poor; right now I'm in the middle. If I'm going to splurge, it will be for a poker tournament or a concert, not a fancy Italian restaurant in a casino, but I was told by other poker players that the Italian restaurant is superb. This casino is also a really cool place to walk around. As I write this, it's all coming back to me. It's almost like two casinos in one. There is a chill side (where the RunGood Series was held and where I spent most of my time) and there is a 'party' side. Don't take that literally but you will find more people drinking and with groups of friends and stuff like that. But they're usually just playing slots or chillin' at the bar. This side is much larger. Bonus: The bartenders are really cool. I don't know much about the slots because I don't play them. I do know that parking is easy and this casino is very easy to find from the highway. I wouldn't say this is my favorite casino, but it's definitely in the top half. Recommended. Maybe see you soon, maybe not. 50/50.

The food options are solid and always hit the spot after spending some time on the floor. Having access to the VIP lounge, plus front parking, makes visits smooth and convenient. The hotel rooms are spacious, clean, and really comfortable, which is perfect if you want to turn your casino visit into a full overnight stay. Overall, Casino Queen has become my go-to spot. The 1lb pretzel was amazing though and if we go again, we'll probably stick to the appetizer offerings (which there are A LOT). The wait-staff situation is kind of confusing and at times we were waiting for so long my husband just went to the bar. We saw our waitress behind the bar for a good amount of time as well without taking a break to check on her area of seated tables, we assumed/hoped they were just shorthanded, or maybe they just assume people are planted for a while.

I've been to the Alton Belle twice now, but I only made the mistake of eating at their buffet once. It was...less than acceptable. If you like to people-watch, you'll be pleased with the odd array of folks that hang out here. It's NOTHING like a Vegas casino. We're talking disabled people who don't appear to have moved from a single slot machine in years, retirees blowing their Social Security checks on the penny slots, gap-toothed cocktail waitresses, and good ole boys from the nearby farming communities acting like they're in Ocean's 11 or something as they puzzle their way through the basics of blackjack. There are exceptions, of course, but overall, this place is kind of a freakshow. Anyway, I've been twice now because they do occasionally have really good concerts. I saw Air Supply here in 2007, along with Loverboy a bit later. It's an extremely small venue, and if you get there early, you can usually snag a decent seat (but be warned, the front seats are typically reserved for people who have some kind of special relationship with the casino. Acoustically, it's an imperfect venue. For seating, it's even worse (all of the seats are level, so if someone tall is front of you...too bad). Still, the acts they bring in are worthwhile and the venue feels very intimate. I should also mention that thanks to wonderful new regulation in Illinois, smokers are not welcome inside the casino. You'll still get the occasional whiff of it from someone whose clothing is tainted, but the bigger concern these days is body odor. Now if they could just outlaw that one...
