This happened back in December/January of this year, and the more I think about it, the more I want to warn people to stay away from this place because I had never felt so violated during a massage.
I had started a new job/internship that required my back to be hunched quite often and after a couple months of doing it, I developed a sharp pain in my left shoulder blade. I was so broke but it literally hurt to move or breathe so I was frantically searching for a cheap place to get help. Cue, me finding Bamboo for their $70 massage-- which I though was cheap so I took it in desperation.
I show up to the location and I am ushered in by two women, one of whom was the masseuse, and am taken to a room. I tried to make some small talk with the lady but it became apparent that she didn't speak english very well (not a problem at all, but was hard for me to communicate, just keep reading)
I had only had 1-2 "professional" massages in the past, and all of them did a short consultation followed by time to undress to comfort level. This did not happen here.
There was no consultation, and on top of that, I was made to pay before the service was preformed (I was in so much pain that I didn't care). Once I paid, the masseuse told me to undress, but then just stood there watching me. I had to tell her to leave the room so I could undressed? When she left she kept the room open a crack. Surprised to say, I was uncomfortable with the situation, but again, pain. So I decided to leave my leggings on, and I had my bra cupped onto the table with the straps off. After all, no one really informed me how in depth this massage was going to be. It was $70, and I was only expecting just a normal back massage for an hour.
This is the fun part
I get situated on the bed facing down. I hear the woman come in, and I suppose she noticed that I was still wearing leggings. This lady WITHOUT WARNING takes the blanket off and starts pulling down my pants while I'm on the table!
I was shocked!
I sit up and I was sooo embarrassed because I was half naked on the table and it was hard for me to communicate that trying to rip my pants off was making me very uncomfortable.
I was able to tell her that I could take the leggings off myself, but again, she just stood there. Had to tell her for a second time that she needed to leave the room.
I was in so much pain I still went through with the massage. Under any other circumstances, I would have probably left the moment they tried to make me pay before the service but I needed something bc the bf's massages weren't cuttin it.
The only good things I can say is that the next day, the pain in my shoulder was completely gone, and the massage itself wasn't bad at all. I think the masseuse ended up adding hot stones to my session for free (because I'm pretty sure it was just a swedish massage I was paying for). I really wish I could give it at least 2 stars for the good massage, but because of what happened, I was uncomfortable the entire time so I had trouble relaxing during.
I have literally never in my life written a bad review for a business, but I'm about to have a massage at another location and it reminded me of this situation and I wouldn't want anyone experiencing what I did. read more
