Fried roce
Timothy C.

Just moved here from San Diego where Asian food is alllll over...got fried rice, kung pao , general tsos...and it is not good. I'd rather drink sugar water with 5 day old bread than eat this again. I had fried breading, as did my wife. True kung pao is not breaded. Add to that the cost is outrageous for what you get. I spent 54 bucks through doordash (included fees and tip) and I could have gotten 3 streetwalkers for that, and they would have tasted better. Look at how much celery is in that picture. Move on to the general tsos and it is just fried breading and a soup of sauce. Fried rice with no egg?! Absolutely not authentic and full of sugar with no meat. Skip this and come to my house where I can make this same dish for cheaper and better.

I am always mixed in opinion when asked or thinking about Bamboo Garden. For me, it is hit or miss on visits and takeout. Sometimes the food tastes great, hot, fresh, and filling. But other times, it seems like it was cold, or just flavorless. It really all depends in what you choose I think. First off, I rarely eat in the actual store, as it is very small, and not the most modern or appealing. The takeout is certainly the go to option, as I they are always busy with phone orders and pickups. After a long day of work or just not feeling like going to a restaurant or cooking, Bamboo Garden is usually a contender for pickup. They are fast, affordable, and nice. I suggest choosing from the chef's specials section, as those dishes tend to be more succulent and tasteful. Not that the regular menu is bad, but it is the more generic Americanised options you would imagine. The Hawaii 5-0 is much more fascinating and tasty than a regular fried rice chicken bowl. As for the fried rice, I'm not a fan. It is yellow, dry and the vegetables taste frozen at times. I much prefer the fresher steamed rice. The sweet & sour is okay, not the most juicy chicken. The sauce is good and thick. Chicken with broccoli is good, and you can tell the more chicken there is of what seems to be better quality mixed with the sauce. Most orders if not all come with the option of steamed or fried rice. If you're lucky, you get fortune cookies, as sometimes the chef forgets haha. No hard feelings. I recommend calling ahead of time, having the menu alphanumeric code for your dish handy. In example, "Hello, may I place a takeout order for the A5..." etcétera. Then give it some 10-15 minutes and drive to pick it up, or order as you're leaving the office or grocery shopping.

It's just fine, nothing terribly remarkable, I would recommend eating it there if you can. It's much better fresh out of the wok than it is turning to goo in a box.

After being questioned about our order in the restaurant (we online) we ended up with the wrong food, and a bug in my sweet and sour sauce

I've always had great experiences here but tonight I won't be dining here again. We ordered our food online to be picked up in the restaurant . Upon arriving to the restaurant we were questioned about out order. "Do you want almond chicken?" We were asked repeatedly. I assured the woman behind the counter that yes, I did want almond chicken. When we got home to eat, we had been given soup. Soup. This is not almond chicken. To top it off, the sweet and sour chicken I ordered had a lovely BUG in it. There is a BUG in my food. This is completely unacceptable and I would not recommend this restaurant again. I'm very disappointed.

This is the questionable chicken ...

Do not use their website to pay for your order. Every time I have used it my card information has been compromised.

Mongolian beef was 0.31oz of beef and just under a pound of uncooked onions. Literally.

I don't know enough about Toledo Chinese cuisine, but this is better than most as compared to MI…read more Food, quantity, takeout, service, quality all very high. Price point is VERY fair. We've been here twice now. None of the dishes disappointed. We order off the authentic menu. They even have a "special" authentic menu that is seen only when you enter the restaurant. I think they are Cantonese. They don't skimp on portion sizes. Dishes are flavorful. Authentic menu is indeed AUTHENTIC. We asked 1 - low salt, 2 - low oil, 3 - no MSG and these preferences were honored. They even called back saying one of the dishes was a bit heavy in oil so that we could potentially order something else. They called us when the takeout order was ready. The Midwest needs more restaurants like these. If I lived closer I would come way more often. Best of all you get this for a very fair price point. It is not the inflationary/expensive price for low-quantity sub-par asian food you see now-adays. Come here if you are near the area. Ambiance is average and unassuming, like most great Chinese restaurants!

Don't expect the world's best anything - you are picking up freshly-cooked food defensively - anything you get here will be better than the gas station taquitos or the Arby's roast beef sandwich binge you will regret in 30 minutes. But to be clear, it's not going to be particularly great. Something about the time of day that I pass by through this area gets me so excited to toss in a pickup order just to see what I get. The Singapore-style Mei Fun is reliable. Get it plain without the Singapore curry spice if you're more suspicious. lol. Anything like String Beans with Garlic, or Beef with Broccoli, is going to be perfectly acceptable for a road warrior like you. The location, consistency, and ease of triangulation with regards to ordering over the phone (or having your shotgun passenger order) about 10 minutes before you reach this Hwy exit merits a solid 4-star review. The food is 3-star ish, but the mere existence of this place warrants a bonus "Oasis" star.
