I had: the complimentary bread, bigos, sausage/cheese appetizer (off-menu item), bits of potato pancake, bits of kielbasa, and finally, a bit of gowamkee. Everything was Fantastic. The server, one of whom wasn't Polish, were all fantastic and accommodating. The architecture is amazing, it's authentic, and there's even a torso statue of Chopin there. Many don't realize he was Polish. Finally, if I could go back in time, I'd order a little less, because the portions are generous. Their service was great, the architecture, furniture, and interior decorating was beautiful, and the food was excellent. Very tasty! The restaurant makes quite an impression upon entering. It looks like more of a banquet facility. In fact, I think they were setting up for a wedding. Lots of families, nice bar area, cozy. I got the Gdańsk special. This is NOT a place to try while on a diet but it was worth every calorie. Potato pancakes with applesauce, several types of pierogi, kielbasa and sauerkraut, and the stuffed cabbage...omg the cabbage. I would definitely recommend this dish for getting a taste of all polish cuisine has to offer. Also tried the apple cake for dessert but would skip it next time. Dry and bland. Service was lovely. I've heard reviews that this place has awesome food. So i packed up my wife and son and headed out to the Baltic restaurant. The new building looks very nice inside and out. The waitstaff was very slow in taking orders. They took my sons plate away like he wasn't a person and it took them over 20 minutes just to get drinks and take orders. We ordered a few different items. The chicken cutlet was deep fried when the menu says, pan fried. It also smelled like fish. The pierogi and potato pancakes were dripping with grease and the prices were way overpriced. They had a lady playing the piano sporadically, and playing the violin at the table. It was just weird. I grew up eating Polish food and this was pretty bad. No flavor just grease. read more

Baltic might be my favorite Polish restaurant in Central CT. I recommend the Kraków special. It consists of 1 golabki (Polish stuffed cabbage), 4 pierogies, 2 good-sized potato pancakes, and 1 cheese blintz. Each item is as delicious as the next. Served with both sour cream and/ or applesauce upon request, the Kraków special is a delicious and filling meal. It's a little bit more expensive than your average restaurant entree, but it is totally worth the price. read more

The food here was very good. My fiancee and I went on April 5th and got pierogies for an appetizer. She liked them more than I did, but they were still tasty. My fiancee got the Krakow Special, which was a stuffed cabbage, four pierogi, a cheese crepe, and two potato pancakes. She loved everything, and at $18 it was a good deal. I had the Hungarian Goulash. It was delicious (like a gourmet beef stew over a potato pancake). The problem we had was with another "customer." There were two men sitting at a table on the other side of the dining area. One was firing the other, and doing it loudly. There was cursing and crying. At one point we asked a waiter what was going on, and he said the man doing the firing was a friend of the owner, and the owner had given him permission to fire the other man in the restaurant. Why the owner thought this was a good idea is beyond me. It was very obnoxious and took away from what otherwise would've been a very pleasant experience. read more

What can I say this place definitely makes the most delicious authentic polish food in the area. My boyfriend is polish & will only eat at Baltic. We have eaten in & taken food out several times and have never been disappointed. Tonight ordered take out the Krakow special, comes with 2 potatoe pancakes with sour cream & applesauce, 4 pierogi (your choice) we took potatoe & cheese, 1 create & 1 galumpki. Definitely more than enough food for the 2 of us share. We have also celebrated New Year's Eve & our son's christening. Both events were great, tons of food & alcohol to go around. The owner did an exceptional job with our son's christening, will most likely go back & have his 1st holy communion done at Baltic. I like their food, but I've been here twice during lunch and both times I was there for an hour and 20 minutes when there was only one other table occupied. This time, the waiter took our credit card for payment, went to the bar area, then disappeared out the doorway near the bar that leads into the restaurant. I don't know where he went and/or if he had our credit card with him or if he left it at the bar, but either way, our card shouldn't have been unattended, and you better believe I will be watching my credit card account like a hawk for suspicious activity because it shouldn't take us 5-10 minutes to get our credit card back! read more

Had late lunch there around 2 pm on Saturday afternoon with my wife and 2 young kids.My wife ordered pierogi stuffed with mushrooms which were perfectly fried and fully stuffed with porcini mushrooms. Kids had patatoe pancakes which were fresh and perfectly seasoned.My 3 year old daughter had pickled hearing which she ate all of it.I ordered Pyzy wich were fresh and very nicely made..none of the food need any salt or pepper. The Polish beer selection is very nice wich perfectly accompanied the food.Overall being born in Poland with a Polish mother this is the closest restaurant that resembles my mother's cooking. Came here for a birthday party, and it was great! The food was delicious, buffet style, crispy fish filets, lemon chicken, salad, potatoes, buns (amazing), pasta with sauce. What they had, but I didnt try, was stuffed cabbage (pork? beef?) and a creamed shaved beef (?), which others said was good. The upstairs hall is very light bright and new. Yet for no reason they had some furniture on the landings that look like a tornado dropped them down. There was an outside patio/smokers lounge, which also had slashed up furniture, but thats outside and kind of makes sense. The bathroom was very nice. The only other drawback was that the bartender seemed a bit disinterested. I asked for a bloody mary, she said we dont have that, I said I can see it, and she said she doesnt recommend it. So I opt for a vodka soda with lime, and she squirts some warm bottled lime juice in. The lady next to me asked if they don't have limes...the bartender said, yeah but I left them downstairs. This bartender was only serving this party. Besides that, they kept the party going at a nice pace. I would come back here, especially for dinner, as the food was very good, and I would love to explore the Polish delights! read more

I ordered to go pierogies, they were great but wished for sautéed onions with it and more sauces. They asked me if I wanted utensils which I appreciate w To Go. I came on a Saturday night and had a hard time knowing where to go and stood at an unoccupied podium for a few before I just walked into the restaurant to find a server (there was a some kind of a party going on too) They were kind and helpful once found. Staff is friendly but food was not all it is cracked up to be. The pierogi was served dry with no sauteed butter or onions. The kielbasa was boiled and not fried and crispy. This is a nice venue and all in all my second most frequented polish restaurant. The facility is very nice , the food is good , and well priced. If you need to go on a date and want to avoid broad street, this is a good alternative. It also isn't in as bad of an area as broad street is so you can avoid some of that unnecessary headache dealing with driving through a run down area. read more

I haven't been to Baltic since it relocated but I fondly remember the older, smaller, more homely restaurant on Farmington Ave which I loved. The food and staff never disappointed. Always left with a full belly and a smile on my face. I've heard mixed reviews on the new Baltic because "It's just not the same" but I'll give it a chance one day. read more

Very good. Our waiter was super nice and helpful. My husband went crazy over the potato pancakes. The potato pie perogie was my favorite one. The crepes were amazing, sweet farmers cheese, yum! The stuffed cabbage was good, I'm spoiled on those, so I didn't give it great. I would still recommend them , homemade is homemade though . To not have to prep them myself, worth it! Heavy food so we were stuffed! The sampler is perfect. We also got these potato dumplings with bacon etc??? I wasn't a fan but I think that is purely a taste preference. Would return! read more

The Baltic restaurant has the best Polish food in Central Connecticut! Wow they have lots of American food to offer, it is there Polish food that they excel at. They have combination plate with all of your Polish favorites and they are all absolutely delicious, but you cannot beat their potato pancakes or their Pierogies! I ordered potato pancakes for a party and my guests said they were the best potato pancakes they had ever eaten! The staff people are very pleasant and accommodating. Try it if you enjoy Polish food. Attended a wedding reception recently there. From A to Z everything was superb. The food was exceptional in my opinion the best food from any venue I've ever attended. The food at this restaurant is simply amazing! The staff is kind, courteous, and attentive. The servers seemed to know when to come over and ask if anything else is needed but at the same time they seem to understand when a couple would rather not be bothered! I would definitely recommend the salmon (the sauce the lightly pour over it is outstanding!) and the beef stroganoff! and you HAVE to try the soups! the same soups rotate weekly! My personal favorite would have to be the barley soup on Thursdays. read more

I attended a function at the Baltic last week. It was my third visit and I felt compelled to share my observations. The offerings for this event were buffet style; consequently I got to try several dishes. The quality was consistent with my prior visits. All the items were prepared fresh and to perfection. Aside from the "standard" Polish dishes like gołąbki which were excellent, several items deserved special note. The red potato wedges were on the money. Thoroughly done and well seasoned but not dried out as all too often is their curse. Chicken breast fillets were moist and flavorful. Nicely garnished and drizzled with a sauce that complemented them perfectly, rather than compensating or concealing. Even ziti - the usually leathery side dish was perfect. A nice balance between pasta, cheese and sauce. Generous, but not drowning in sauce and not a dry edge to be found. The pork loin in gravy was well done, but tender enough to eat with a fork. The facility is beautiful and impeccably clean. The atmosphere is comfortable and geared toward the family end of things. If you want "garson" to hover over you while you play with your pat of butter, this ain't it. For a solid Polish/Eastern European meal in a friendly and relaxed setting, however, this place is hard to beat. A point worth noting to those who'd like faster service or remarked about a dish being unavailable: The food here is made fresh. To me that's very important. There are no yesterday's reheated soups or dishes. This will probably lengthen service times and occasionally cause shortages. I'll take this over the alternative of pre-fab junk. read more

My husband and I were at the restaurant on a Friday for dinner for the first time. From the time we arrived to the time we left was one of the most lovelist evenings we had being out to dinner in a very long time. The restaurant itself is very nice. It felt like a european atmosphere which was a nice little get-away from the american establishments for a change. To our surpirse there was a very talented woman playing piano who later entertained us with the most beautiful violin music. She made our night a very memorable one. The menu was very good as far as selections and priced very reasonably. The nice thing was that there was a menu which you can select alittle bit of a variety of food as an entree in case you are not familiar with the ethnic polish food. The food and service were excellent. We came to The Baltic because of coupon which we actually had to leave an 18% gratuity tip with. When we got the check, we were so pleased with everything that we even increased it to much more than that! We have definately found a new favorite restaurant! read more

My brother and I both had the Gdansk Special, which included stuffed cabbage, kielbasa, pierogis and potato pancakes and it was very good. My son had the Penne Alla Vodka and it was ok but hey this is a Polish restaurant, not an Italian restaurant. We went on a Friday night and it wasn't busy. The atmosphere was enjoyable with a person playing the piano. Yes I will be back and maybe next time my teenage son will listen to me when I tell him to order the Polish specialty food. read more
