Lovely breakfast spread - hot food is served ex menu choices

What a wonderful Irish country house, so warm and welcoming and once you've checked in a realized the comforts of your cosy room you can chill in the drawing room and relax and take in the ambience of the place. We enjoyed a night here and our bedroom was so lovely with a large double bed, nice sofa and a large bathroom with shower - everything clean and tidy. There are a few rooms to while away the time reading, a conservatory, a cosy room beside it (which has a tv in case you experience withdrawal symptoms as there is none in the bedrooms) the drawing room with a lovely lit log fire. The food is sumptuous, from a homemade soup with sandwiches, through to lovely dinner & the breakfast set you up for the day! Absolutely loved the place & look forward to the next visit. Highly recommend it.

The hour-and-fifteen-minute guided tour takes you behind the scenes of the 200-year-old facility, with stops at the grain store, mill house, and maturation warehouses. Along the way, you'll see the massive iron water wheel that once powered the mill before steam engines took over, as well as the largest pot still in the world, both impressive highlights. The tour wraps up with a tasting of three whiskeys. Ours included Jameson Original, Redbreast, and Green Spot. It's a great way to experience the range of flavors and styles Jameson has to offer. You also get a drink voucher to use at the on-site bar, which is conveniently attached to the gift shop. I'd recommend this tour not just to Jameson fans and whiskey enthusiasts, but also to history lovers and anyone interested in Irish craftsmanship. It's a well-paced, engaging experience that combines tradition, storytelling, and flavor in a beautifully preserved setting.

We learned a lot and particularly enjoyed learning about their method and madness line. Our tour guide was great. Do note that you may need to stick around after the tour a bit before driving especially if you didn't have much in your stomach! We would definitely come back sometime.

THE BALLYMALOE SHOP Let me put you straight here. There is…read morejust one Ballymaloe café. There are two Ballymaloe shops and the one I'm talking about here is, like the café, adjacent to Ballymaloe House (which has its own entrance). The Ballymaloe Cookery School and Gardens are about a mile away, entrance from Shanagarry village. There is no café here but they do have a farm shop attached. The shop at Ballymaloe House sells crafts (including knitwear and pottery) and some food (mainly in jars and bottles, such as jam and honey). Perhaps its most impressive area is the kitchen room which must have every small and not so small tool you'll ever need. We certainly helped ourselves to a few handy items on today's visit. Food items purchased here included Ballymaloe Jalapeno Pepper Relish (€2.95), Gourmet Handmade Plum Jam by Helen Gee from Laois (€3.50) and Deise Irish Honey (expensive at €6.95). We didn't need any help today but the staff were very pleasant and we saw them help out some English visitors in a courteous and friendly fashion and their exchanges with us were along the same lines. I know some people are worried about declining standards of courtesy but I find the opposite is true in the food and drinks industry, in the Cork area at least. There is plenty of parking by the shop and you may also call to the Café) at the back of the shop) and also to the Grain Store (which sometimes hosts art exhibitions). http://www.ballymaloe.ie/ballymaloeshop/index.html Phone: +353 (0) 21 4652032
