We decided to stop off and grab a meal on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. And what a good decision it was. Although a bit unprepossessing in terms of looks (the interior is painted a simple pink and there is little in the way of ambience), the menu offered a surprisingly wide array of choices. As our party of five had very different interests in eating, we all got a diverse set of dishes. From my simple scone and latte to my son's Mexican smash burger, everything was quite tasty and reasonably priced. They do seem a bit short-handed, but overall no complaints at all. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby.

The "Cajun" chicken wrap was a lot different than I expected but still good. It has a little bit of sweetness to it that I don't associate with Cajun food. It's relatively new and the lady who works there who is also the owner is very friendly and chatted with me while I was there. I had an Americano which was pretty good and only costed €1.80 which is really cheap when you compare it to the usual €2.80~€3.00 coffees you see at most other coffee shops. The cafe itself is very small with just one table seat and a few seats by the window, but it's nice and cute plus very strategically located right opposite to where all the buses leave! They also serve food like pastries and wraps and it's only €3 for a coffee + pastry combo. They didn't have any milk option besides whole milk, but other than that this a very nice inexpensive coffee shop!

It is a bakery/cum traiteur, owned and run by award winning French chef Jean Francois Bernard. Quite a choice of freshly prepared food and I choose the Boeuf Bourguignon, a couple of pastries and a brown loaf. The Bourguignon was excellent value at a fiver a pack and you could have fed three from the two I bought. The beef was top class and beautifully cooked and the sauce, with loads of little mushrooms, was terrific. Quality also in the baked pieces and that meant we had a very nice meal at home that evening. Le Gourmet also provides other breads, savoury meals, fish dishes, pastries, gateau and de luxe hampers and are also involved in the outside catering business. Quality, value and service is the motto and it has got Jean Francois into the Bridgestone Food Guide.
