They have a no animal testing charter, which is something that's really commendable these days. As a laydee I have reason to pop in to pick up all manner of hair and beauty products. I think this store are really good for finding bargains on things like shampoo and make-up ranges. I'm definitely a fan of this store as they offer a much cheaper alternative to boots.

I visit Superdrug frequently to pick up their exclusive range of 'B' makeup which is vegan. It's an amazing cosmetics range and outstanding quality with the B makeup Primer being the best I've ever tried. The lipsticks and nail polishes come in a vast array of colours too and the eyeshadows are beautiful to use. All Superdrug own brand products are clearly labelled, highlighting if they are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. In particular the Vitamin E skincare, sun care and dry skin ranges are awesome. An ethical super store!

The pharmacist is pretty friendly and offers lots of over the counter advice for minor ailments. For a small shop it's well stocked with lots of both sex toiletries, makeup and domestic products. There are always v good deals on things like toothpaste, facewipes and deodorants. Good selection of health brands like linwoods, biona, PhD and maximuscle. Protein bars like PhD, Quest and ON are from £1.49. Yankee candles also available. General chemist staff as helpful and friendly.

I recently had to pay for a vaccination (for tick borne encephalitis, nasty I know!) and little did I know this would end up costing me £75! Had I known, I'm sure I would have gone with money in the bank, but jobless at the time and about to embark on a mission to Romania I was near enough broke. The woman looked at me like I had six heads. How dare I come to her shop with no money (Hello! It's a chemist!?!) I just wasn't too impressed. It used to be owned by the loveliest man called Mr Gracey. Ah back in those days I could have collected the script and paid in a few days, but oh no. Not on her watch! So they've definitely lost points there. Other than that, how different can any chemist be? They did all commuicate with each other for a while and after lots of questions they eventually said it wasn't in yet. After 2 phone calls and convincing them that it should be here, I eventually spent 30 minutes in total in that shop when my friend came in to see if I was still alive! The wee stocky woman (shop assitant) with the spikey hair was nasty looking, not helpful, very abrupt, tried to come across more important than she was. Thankfully the younger guy who was friendly and helpful did get the order, while the wee stocky woman walked off making excuses to the chemist and didn't even come back to speak or apologise to me. The young guy gave real good advice about how to double check about orders etc next time and really redeemed this store from getting no stars! Thanks matey!

The store has everything you would expect: it does a range of nappies, shower and bath products, cleaning products and all their usual hygiene products on top of the standard blend of medicines and health related products. There is also a photo processing facility which can be handy for when you don't want to deal with the slow supermarket machines or order online. The staff are very nice and friendly and will gladly give you their best advice on products. They also will allow you to bring faulty things back with no fuss as I found when I bought a tube of Bazuka that had nothing but air in it! Unfortunately the car parking spaces are limited to 3 and are hard to get, but you can usually park across the road. One for the locals and in emergency scenarios only

My first experience of the chain was within Queen's Student Union where I would gleefully walk in with a full student loan and come out brandishing goods from perfume, tweezers and face packs. I found it difficult to control my purchasing needs when I entered this store as everything was really cheap and scented beautifully. However, I have mastered the art of spending wisely which helps as my nearest store is located on the Ormeau Road just a few minutes from my house. This particular Medicare has much more to offer than the smaller unit in Queen's Student Union as it has a full pharmacy counter to deal with all illnesses and drug prescriptions. Yet, because of its greater range and pharmacy counter this store can be particularly busy so do expect a queue. Same goes if you're planning to purchase something you don't want others to see...could be embarrassing when most residents of the Ormeau Road can see what's in your shopping basket.

I have been in Sandown before, and have always found the staff to be very helpful. And this time was no different. What actually happened was that the sister branch, just 2 minutes down the road, referred me to Sandown due to them not having the tablets I was after. Plus the pharmacist was out, so I'd have to wait anyway. Flip sakes. So, off I hopped (nearly quite literally, since it's my foot that's the problem) to Sandown and was greeted by the bubbly pharmacist who took my prescription, having explained to her that I couldn't get the applicable tablets from the pharmacy down the road. She took a look, and told me that they didn't seem to have enough for me, only a packet and a half, totalling 74. "Ooops," says she, "I just noticed you only want 56", to which I nodded, having realised the same thing. Twas a bit of a giggle anyhow. And I was relieved to have gotten what I'd come for. The store also has a good range of makeup, perfumes, toiletries etc at highly reasonable prices, so even if you're not after a prescription pickup, it's undoubtedly a good place to call into.

There is always a very good range of goods that appeal to the customer. You must visit this Pharmacy at Christmas-time as the range of presents they have are great. Very competitive prices as well. Walking through Belfast the other day I was drawn in to Gordons chemist by a deal they had in their…read morewindow, they had a great offer on mens aftershave. To be honest before I saw the sign in the window I had no idea Gordons sold perfume and aftershave. I thought they were a traditional chemsit focussing on pharmaceuticals. The store was clean and obviously fragrant as you'd expect a chemsit to be. I have one gripe about my experience of Gordons, I went in specifically fro the aftershave deal they had displayed in the window. I walked straight in the door and approached the counter that was manned by two members of staff, I then sprayed the aftershave on to some test paper and began to smell it. At this point I was waiting for one of the members of staff to ask me 'could they help with anything' but they didn't! So I hung around for another few minutes until the point it actually became awkward and then I left. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they were busy but they could have said they'd be with me in a minute and that would have solved the situation. This put me off going back in to Gordons despite their offer but this could have been a one off so I am going to give the otherwise great chemist 3 stars.

I'd never, ever paid a visit to Fullarton Pharmacy, which is really quite strange given how many…read moretimes I've driven past it and thought 'I must go in there one day'. Yes, that's how sad I am... Yesterday, when I popped into St George's Market (which I'd never been to either...I really need to get out more), I remembered that I needed some hairspray (yet again), and instantly thought of Fullarton's. So, in I went. It's quite a strange little pharmacy, with both an entrance from the market itself and Oxford Street, and it's also pretty small. There wasn't really anything of interest, so I got on with the matter in hand and picked up some Pantene hairspray for a respectable £1.99. Bargain. The staff were exceptionally pleasant, and I was served straight away by a third staff member who saw me approaching and noticed that his two fellow workers were busy with prescriptions. Very nice chap indeed. Well, it certainly did its job, so I can't really complain. As to whether or not I'd go out of my way to visit again is another question, but I figured it's more for handiness' sake. Not half bad.
