Ballwin is a city worth visiting because Manchester (a major thoroughfare running through Ballwin and beyond) has everything you desire from restaurants, car dealerships, retail stores, banking facilities and more specifically Gold's Gym, Supplement Superstore and Queeny Park. This place should be on a comedy show as a skit for poor customer service. It is so bad and consistently bad you cannot make it up. The course is just ok- inexpensive municipal course and will do for a day of Sunshine for novice golfers. Calling to make a tee time miserable, desk staff and rangers crabby and miserable. The odd thing is it has been this way for 30 years. The staff is so crabby that by the time you tee off you feel Miserable and wonder why the hell you are there. The rangers also are exceedingly rude (before they have even seen a group play) to younger golfers and females. Go elsewhere pay the extra 10 bucks for a real course and fun environment read more

I had not played Ballwin Golf Course for the past two or three years due to it always taking three plus hours to play nine holes. But I decided to give it another go today (July 17, 2023) and that was a big mistake. When I arrived, the pro shop told they me that there was "a tournament" out there and they were playing each hole as a par three. I thought it a bit strange but teed off anyway. I got to number two tee and there were five men standing in the middle of the fairway. And they waited and waited and waited to tee off on their makeshift par 3 (actually a par 5). After my two playing partners and I finally teed off, we made our way down the fairway, only to find the same five guys waiting about a hundred yards from the green at the layup area in front of the creek. Their buddies, another fivesome, were on the green. Two fivesomes!!! Golf is supposed to be maximum four players, but Ballwin Golf Course does not seem to realize this. By the time the two fivesomes had finished (and hit multiple shots apiece) it had been nearly 40 minutes. 40 minutes for one hole. My blood was boiling, so I shook my playing partners' hands and apologized but said I would not be able to continue. I went up to the pro shop and told the attendants what had happened. I did not cuss or yell but was agitated. They tried to offer me a rain check, but I said I want a full refund as I will never play this course again, which is a shame, because it's a fun little course that is only a couple miles from my house. The attendants looked at me like I had three heads when I said there should not be two fivesomes out there. They merely said, "but, it's a tournament." Had they said, "sorry about that, we had no idea they grouped into fivesomes, we'll go out and break them up and move them along," I would not be writing this scathing review. That, however, was not the case. They thought I was in the wrong for thinking the rules of this game should be followed and people's time respected. The sad thing about this bad etiquette is that it's not just confined to Ballwin. It has metastasized to most every course I go to. And it's not just slow play and no regard for groups behind, it's unfixed ball marks on every green, no raking of bunkers, loud music emanating from everybody's cart, six packs of beer drained by 10 am. I'm a 43-year-old guy who likes to have fun, but my dad, grandpa, and uncle taught me how to play the game the right way. It's supposed to be a gentleman's game, but for the last five or six years, I have seen very few gentlemen (or gentleladies) on the golf course, least of all at Ballwin Golf Course. If you value your sanity and your time, don't play here! read more

Would have to agree with previous reviewers about rude staff. Also this course has no practice range. Instead they have a net you are allowed to hit into for 2 minutes if you pay for a round. read more

This is a great course in the middle of a residential section. It is well kept, and caters to every type of golfer. It is a difficult course for beginners and hackers, but enjoyable non the less. the pro is friendly and knowledgeable. I live nearby and wish I could play it more often. Ballwin can be proud of this gem. read more

Tina is terrible. The rest of the course and staff are terrific. Let's start with the good and then move onto Tina. Buch & Ben have made this course puttable again, their work as the super's over the past two years has made Ballwin the best muni track in the St. Louis area. Alex has been a great pro since taking over for Dave Furlong and really improved the entire clubhouse experience. I play 2-5 times a week and everyone that works their is great: Jim, Cheryl, Lisa, John, Gary, and I'm sure I've missed a couple but they are all friendly and welcoming. Only exception is Tina, she's just not friendly, I don't think I've ever seen her smile. Tina also doesn't understand the inner workings of a golf course, when a single goes up without a tee time, everyone else tries their best to squeeze that single on, if possible. Tina just thinks oh the tee sheet is entirely full, so there's no possible chance, one person, throughout the day over many hours of bookings won't show up, because in Tina's mind, that's just not plausible. The city needs to do a better job of training Tina both from a customer service perspective and a golf course operation perspective. read more

By far the rudest staff I have ever experienced. While waiting for my playing partner to pay inside the marshal comes up to me drilling me about how it is cart path only and how he will make me walk the course if he catches me on the grass. He was talking to me like I have been to the course multiple times just to come and tear it up. (This was my first time here). Then when my partner and I are waiting to tee off on the first hole the marshal yells at us to go ahead and tee of right into the group ahead of us by 180 yards. He said "hurry up and tee off guys you aren't going to hit it that far!" One of the most infuriating things I've ever heard. So we teed off right into the group and as expected the group was angry at us for hitting directly into them. Horrible experience. I will never come back to this course and I will be making sure that I tell everyone that mentions this course that they should not play here either. Please if you are seeing this review save your time and money and play somewhere else. Once again horrible staff. read more

Course: Fairly tame 9 hole course that is immaculately maintained. Fairways are pristine and greens are perfect. A rarity for a public golf course. Never too much traffic, although it can get busy. Service: Cheap cart rates and a reasonable clubhouse for supplies and refreshments. The people here are genuine and sincere. Value: Amazing. read more

This nine hole golf course is in excellent condition and presents a challenge to golfers of all levels (depending on which tees you choose to play). The staff and pro are very friendly and helpful. Nothing special about this 9 hole municipal course. Fairly boring layout. Worst staff I've ever encountered at a golf course In 30 plus years. I walked the 9 recently on a weekday. At check in the attendant never made eye contact with me as I stood endlessly before he even acknowledged my presence while he fidgeted with the cash register. Finally he looked up & asked me "what"? The course was ridiculously slow. No fun. I was playing alone and on #4, a par 3hole. I noticed there was no one behind me but a huge log jam ahead. So I hit a second ball onto the green, at which time an employee cutting the grass stops his mower and yells over to me that there is a "one ball rule" here at Ballwin. Give me a break. Next hole # 5 I'm waiting, waiting, waiting and finally hit my drive & then 2nd shot onto green. I putt out and could see ahead that there were three groups ahead of me waiting to tee off on #6. So I'll again be waiting a ridiculously long time behind the #6 tee box. Since no one is behind, I decide to practice putting on #5 green. Promptly the same grass cutter (fat guy with blonde mustache) gets off his mower to tell me this is the second warning about Ballwin's "one ball rule", as if we were at Pebble Beach. He was apparently watching me closely given my earlier offense. I proceed to tell him this is ridiculous policy. I'm just putting with no impact on the condition of the green. No one is waiting to hit onto my green so why not just putt a few balls. It was not my fault that the course failed to properly manage its tee times. No apparent regard for customer service by these municipal government employees. I decide to just skip the final 4 holes and head straight to my car. Never will return again to this hell hole. read more

The golf course was really well kept. Better than most public golf courses I've been to. The negativity in this review is all due my interaction with the man working the front desk. I think his name was Mike. He talked to us like we were the most annoying people he'd ever encountered. I immediately felt disrespected. Then, my party was on the first tee box waiting for the twosome in front of us to clear the fairway, we hear a voice over an intercom. It was good ol' Mike telling us to hurry up. I guess he would rather have us tee off into people than to hold up those behind us; however, I didn't see a group behind us all day. Thanks Mike. You tainted a potentially awesome afternoon for me and my friends. read more

This place is A-MAZ-ING! For years I've searched for a course that could extend a nine whole round to four hours. They have cracked the code. One really simple way to do this is to squeeze walk ons in when there are no tee time available. Also, do not worry about being rushed... no rude course marshall here trying to make you speed through an unreasonable two hour round. read more

The "best" municipal course in the area and around. With most golf courses being closed one day a week for maintenance, The Ballwin golf course is well groomed and professionaly maintained year- round despite it being open to golfers 7 days a week. It is a thankless task keeping up the greens, collars, rough, and fairways with our everchanging and extreme St. Louis weather! Not to mention the tee-boxes.The same attention goes into the mens's and women's teeing grounds, which is usually lost on other courses women's areas. thanks to all involved in making our game a pleasure to play, and a great ammenity to Balwin!!. read more

Best public 9 hole course with in 100 miles of here. Greens crew is very friendly especially the two young men on the crew they turn off their machines while we were teeing off just a simple gesture that goes a long way. Fairways are cut very nicely would highly recommend this course if you're looking to play a round of golf. read more
