Went the morning of my nephews birthday and got a minecraft balloon and a happy birthday lego balloon, filled with helium ($9 per balloon) plus two weights ($1 each). I was given some balloons from here for my birthday. The balloons are very nice. However, I had to quickly warn the person that bought me the balloons not to shop here again, since the owner has been leaving poisoned peanut butter around the neighbourhood. My friend was shocked and disappointed that she had shopped there, and won't be coming back. Additionally, the woman working here was apparently very rude, although that's obviously not the main issue we have with the place. So while I'm enjoying my birthday balloons, this was my neighbourhood until very recently and I walked my dog by here all the time. This place deserves to be boycotted and to go out of business. If you're deliberately trying to harm animals and devastate families of pets you hurt, you deserve punishment not support. Unbelievable that this guy owns a balloon shop. Balloons are meant to bring joy, but this is scary. read more

I read a lot of the other reviews on yelp before going to Balloons on Bloor, and I don't know what all this is about poisoned peanut butter, but I had a great experience here yesterday. All 3 staff members that were there helped me pick out balloons and create the perfect balloon bouquet. They were really helpful with directing me to what I was looking for, and the store itself is pretty organized so its not difficult to find what you're looking for anyways. They have a pretty big selection here too, though the letter balloons come in limited colors. (If that's my only complaint I can't complain!). They also told me how to transport the balloons, and take care of them until the party today. Yay! read more

I found this store 3 years ago and it was a blessing until today when I went there to get some stuff for New Year's Eve to find out I was forced to buy weights for the numbers spelling out "2017". I of course was very resistant on being forced to buy anything that I don't want. The lady that owns the store came from her little desk behind the balloons and said to me "is there a problem" so I said "yeah I don't know why I HAVE to by weights for the numbers" she quickly said to me with a rude attitude "you can go somewhere else" with a straight face and everything. I've never had such unprofessional customer service in my life and I've been a long running customer. She didn't even take the time to let me know why this was the so called *new rule* I called her out for being rude to me and she started giving me a sappy sad voice. I don't like being rude to older people because I think as a youth in this generation we have to start respecting the ones before us. However this lady needs to learn some customer service. After getting home I asked myself, was it because I was black? Was it because I had some party stuff already with me in a michael's bag?? I couldn't find the answer so I took her advice and I went to this amazing dollar store down at Liberty village that had the same thing at the same price but 100 times better customer service. read more

People working there, not so friendly ! My balloons deflated on the second day. ( second time ) I have noticed, they hardly treat the balloons for them to last. It seems like they are very cheap to put more treatment in the balloons so they can last longer. Not friendly and very dark inside. I have used Balloons on Bloor for quite a few events and they have never disappointed. Last night was no exception. We had a work event out in Mississauga and the delivery time wasn't relayed to our team by one of our staff. Because of our error, Balloons on Bloor ended up waiting almost three hours for a rep from our event to arrive and were very understanding about the situation. Our balloons looked fantastic, and the balloon colour, ribbon and weights were coordinated perfectly. Pricing with delivery was incredibly reasonable too and significantly lower than the competition. Won't hesitate to recommend the team and will definitely use Balloons on Bloor again. read more

First off, I do want to say that this is such a great store with so many lovely options for balloons. However, the service here is absolutely terrible. Angela was quite rude and abrasive when I first came into the store asking for pricing. She gave me half hearted answers and made it seem like I was bothering her. When I ended up purchasing a bouquet of balloons, she quickly changed her tune and was nice and polite. The day came to pick up the balloons and I sent me husband to pick them up. He said that the individuals working there were incredibly rude and had I not pre-paid, would have canceled the order and gone elsewhere. This store is so cool and the staff are so friendly! I rented a helium tank and bought a bunch of weights to make balloon bouquets for my wedding last weekend. I worked with Angela throughout the planning process and she was fantastic. Very informative and even carried my tank out to the car for me! She was also accommodating with the return date/time because she knew I had a crazy weekend ahead of me. Woman who owns the store is not kind in the least. The store itself is amazing, it is a shame and a half that the management ruined my experience. My first order did not live up to expectations - a ton of them popped a week before they should have and destroyed my project in the meantime. My heart was shattered at the days wasted, BUT I thought that it was just a learning experience and moved on to my next idea which would require more balloons. When I called, I explained the above to the owner and she was not very responsive. I was not expecting anything in return, but simply wanted to let her know what happened. I was speaking to her and asking prices (for another idea) and she said "YOU would be stupid to order the same thing" (she would later deny everything and say "it" not "you"). I was hurt by her words and got slightly emotional and started crying gently, partly due to exhaustion of late nights from my first attempt and partially because I really don't appreciate being called stupid, or even my actions to be called stupid (if that really was her best defence). She made fun of my emotions and then coldly said we should not do business together. Um, hello, I was not asking for money and was in fact trying to give you more of my money because I admit my first concept did not work, but my time is limited and this location is convenient. I cannot begin to express my disappointment with the service. I am an event planner and am now trying to find a new location. read more

Horrible customer service! I recently purchased two sets of 6 helium balloons with a unicorn head on top for my daughter's birthday. My friends picked these up for me and all they received were two sets of 3 balloons with unicorn heads. When I called to complain the owner berated me for not calling earlier and insulted me for wanting to be refunded for the balloons I did not receive. She claimed she couldn't look up my order now to confirm the mistake and that it was just too much work for her. So I've cancelled my next order with them for another party. Yes they have balloons so I guess that's worth one star, but EVERY SINGLE STAFF PERSON I've interacted with at this store has been an absolute dick. Like I don't even know how this level of dickery is possible. They must recruit and train specifically for rudeness. They don't acknowledge your existence when you come in, act like it's a huge hassle to have to sell you something, and are just generally unwilling to help in any way. Not the happy go lucky balloon buying experience I was hoping for. I will be looking for other options for sure!!! read more

The owner, John Triantos, has repeatedly been leaving out bags of rat poison in peanut butter behind his store, endangering the lives of both pets and local wild animals. Neighbours have brought it up with him multiple times, and police have been contacted. Do not support this business. read more

I wish there was a star less than one ... I went in three times in the past week to inquire about balloon colours and a helium tank. I told the employee I would need the tank for 5*36 inch balloons and said that would be equivalent to 5-6 regular size balloons each. The tank only made it for about 3 of the 36 inch before it died. When I called (absolutely livid) he said my inquiry was about foil balloons (which it definitely was not) and that each balloon was really equivalent to 10 balloons (how would this even make sense?!?). I was under too much pressure on the day of the party to argue and he charged me for another 50 dollar tank just for my remaining two balloons. Big cheats and somehow even though they only specialize in one thing (balloons) they seems to have pretty much 0 knowledge of how they work. So thanks for making a stressful situation even worse and making me spend essentially $130 dollars for 5 balloons. Do not bother with this place, trust me! read more

Okay products, poor customer service. To rent a small helium tank I was told on the phone that I'd have to leave a pre-auth on my credit card for $200. At the store I was told that beyond a pre-auth I would have to leave a photocopy of my driver's license and photocopies of both sides of my credit card. Never have I ever been asked this before. I was told that if I wasn't comfortable leaving this information that I could go somewhere else. Will not be returning, do not feel comfortable with this store keeping such information. Sketchy ask. If it's stinks like fish, it's probably fish. read more

I have lived in Bloorcourt for years and have been to this store before for balloons for a birthday gift. I didn't love the service (it was abrupt, verging on rudeness) but I let it go, since sometimes people get cranky, whatever . But now that the owner's started to have very angry confrontations with my neighbour about this rat poison business, it seems like the crankiness might be indicative of a general issue with aggression. I find it worrisome that the shop won't listen to reason re: leaving out rat poison with peanut butter, and they won't listen to sensible demands to stop doing this. They are bad neighbours, and it's unfortunate that they are getting away with doing something so antisocial.I would recommend not giving them your business until they sort out the way they do things. read more

Great experience with Balloons on Bloor. I called them to let them know I was sending a taxi cab over to pick up the balloons as I couldn't leave my newborn twins quite yet & they so generously offered to deliver them to my home after closing. I was blown away (pun intended!). It's rare to have customer service like I had from Balloons in Bloor. I will definitely be a repeat customer! Also, the balloons are perfect! read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. First time I went there I was dealt with in such a disrespectful manner as if I should hurry up they have better things to do. This is the second time trying them out because they are in the area and again they are so rude even when I'm placing an order so I cancelled half way through the conversation. I don't understand how they think they can make a sale or keep customers with such a poor level of customer service or even the common courtesy to be nice to someone inquiring about balloons. You do work there, that is your job. They have nothing but attitude and they clearly hate their jobs. Picking balloons and party decorations are supposed to be fun, not a frustrating time with rude answers to every question you ask, as if you're supposed to know every product they offer. They clearly do not need business to be treating people this way. I will never be going back and I will tell everyone I know not to go here because who wants to be spoken to so rudely when placing an order for something fun like balloons let alone give your hard working money to this small business. Learn how to deal with customers better you deserve less than a star Balloons on Bloor. I don't care how long you've been in business for, don't speak to people in that manner you'll always lose business. Called to get a quote on letter ballons and the guy who answer was very rude. Told me that i had to buy a weight for each letter balloon. Each letter balloon is 11.99 and i think he said each weight was 1.99 or 2.99 i dont remember. I asked him why cant he put all the lettered balloons on 1 weight its 5 letters only. I asked why does it even need to be on weights since what i need the balloons for is not to be weighted down on the floor. He told this store does not sell letter balloons without the weights. I said so i am buying extra 5 weights to basically just transport them from your store to my house how ridiculous is that. He said well thats what it is if i am not agreeable then they cant sell to me. I asked him why do you have such rules he said a customer bought letter ballons and walked out and the balloons floated away into the wires on the street and hydro had to come. So they dont sell it anymore without weights. Yes i understand that having weights to hold down the balloons is helpful for us to not lose our balloons but why do i have to buy a weight per letter. On top of that his attitude was horrible in conclusion i am willing to pay 12.99 at Party City per balloon (Party City said i only need to buy 1 weight from them if i choose to even buy a weight) than have to go to Balloons on Bloor for any of my future needs. read more

I had pre ordered and prepaid for some balloons for my daughter's birthday from this store and provided them with all possible details to ensure a smooth pick up of my order. I let her know who would be picking up the order (my husband) and exactly what time he would be there to pick it up. I gave her my phone number as well in case she needed to contact me. She also had the receipt for payment she could have referred to to ensure that the correct order was being picked up. I realized after the children had decorated with the balloons that we were given the wrong order (wrong age on balloons and more than I had ordered), but by this time the party had already started so I just let it go. Half way through the party the balloon store woman called to tell me that I better collect up all the balloons because she was coming to get them! She actually expected me to take balloons away from all the kids (ages 1-5), pack them all up during my child's birthday party and give them back! She also offered NO apology for the mixup and was VERY rude about the whole situation which was HER mistake. I then find that she took the liberty to go ahead and charge my card an additional $33 which meant that I was charged more than DOUBLE the cost of my original order for the wrong balloons. Needless to say I will not be giving any more business to Balloons On Bloor and I've made sure all my neighbourhood friends know to beware of this business. read more
