You see, I was put in charge of decorations for a recent office event, and when I searched Yelp for "balloons," there weren't many search results. So I did the next best thing and asked Jared's opinion, since he works in the event industry... I called the number and was pleasantly surprised to learn that Lori really is the "balloon lady." She is the owner of Balloon Art, and is a pleasure to work with. I told Lori my vision for the event in our first conversation and we scheduled some time for her to come in to the office a few days later to check out the space we were working with. Lori was extremely professional and she ended up over-delivering on what we agreed on. We had balloon bouquets, balloon columns, and even an epic balloon drop that took place during the festivities! Unfortunately, not all of the balloons dropped as planned, but it didn't take too much away from the effect we were after. I was looking at possibly having balloons for some of the decor at my wedding reception. I found a picture of an idea that I liked, and I called Balloon Art to get an idea on price. I called (during normal business hours) and Lori the balloon lady answered the phone and told me I was interrupting her hike and she would need to call me back. So I'm thinking, why are you answering your business phone during your hike then? She asked me if she could call me back when she was finished, and I obviously had no issue with that. But before she hung up she told me that if I didn't hear back from her in about an hour, I should just call her back because that meant she forgot about me. At this point I'm thinking, alright, I could not care less if this woman doesn't call me back. To my surprise, she did. I told her what I was looking for. She asked for a picture and the event address, both of which I provided immediately. She said she would take a look and call me back with a quote by the following day. About a half hour later I got a text back from her. She gave me a RIDICULOUSLY high bid, almost $5000, and said it was going to take 30-40 hours of labor to get the job done. I won't argue with her on her trade, but all I was asking her to do was fill balloons with helium and float them to the ceiling of the event space to cover it. I was not aware that would require 40 hours of labor. So, I asked her if she had any ideas that would maybe be more conservative, thinking she could design something else since she is a balloon artist. Her response was that she couldn't do it without seeing the space, and that was a 55 mile round trip. So basically - NO. I was appalled that someone in business would not want to go the extra mile, or even make any effort at all to gain a customer. I would not recommend Lori the balloon lady to anyone. She is incredibly unprofessional. And if you do call, I hope your event is right around the corner from her business and that you don't interrupt her hike. read more

I thought the review about the "hike disturbance" was a joke. And then I called her. I was calling from California and the connection was bad so I hung up. Lori called me right back- great. We talked about my order and she said she had 7 other orders for that day. She just did not give me a nice vibe so I said "Thanks anyway, I will find someone else" She then gave me a lecture about not hanging up when you call someone. Maybe she does good work, but she should probably hire a person to answer her calls - someone with some customer service skills. read more

My wife and I live in Las Vegas and we were throwing our daughter a baby shower in Phoenix on Saturday, 6/23/18. I contacted Lori back on May 23, 2018 to discuss what I needed/wanted. She was very helpful in informing me the best way to go with what we were trying to achieve. She stayed in contact with me over the month via email, setting up the delivery time for that Saturday, etc. I even had to make a last minute change to the order and it was no problem. She arrived when she said she would with the delivery, including contacting me via telephone to let me know she was on her way. She set everything up exactly how we wanted it. The total cost was exactly what she quoted me even though I believe she did more than we had asked from her. Great Company and I highly recommend AZ Balloon Art for any of your balloon needs.
