Gorgeous colored tablecloths, centerpieces, huge paper flowers, sombreros, candelarias. The whole thing was just perfect and probably the best that place is ever gonna look. Carmen, the chef of the duo, cooked, set up, served, cleaned up and generally made everyone as happy as pigs in shit. And I dont use that very graphic phrase lightly. On the menu: small homemade corn and flour tortillas, fajita, chicken, pork asada, pork belly, gorditas, quesadillas, poblano with cream and corn (veggie), towers of trompo (marinated for days), a huge salsa bar, aguas frescas (fresh juices) of watermelon, mango, pineapple and all the serving ware included. Oh, this all cost us $20 a person & $15 a table. Your quote may be different but I was mightily impressed. It was like I walked into a portal to mexico, minus the scary drug guys and iffy food (but plus a lot of scary relatives.) They actually use slices of cheese inside and on top - I've never had an omelette prepared that way but it was very good. When I first tasted the salsa I was not a fan - it was warm and had a different flavor - then I put it on the omelette and - great pairing and great flavor combo. The refried black beans were sadly underwhelming - no real flavor. I know they were homemade but they were missing the flavor that usually comes with refried beans (black or pinto) My wife had the quiche which had onions, peppers, sausage, mushrooms and cheese. It was very good. Even the crust was good. She ordered the breakfast potatoes as the side. The flavor of the potatoes was excellent. Half of them were lightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which were great; the other half were overcooked and became potato chips - good flavor but not a breakfast potato. We will definitely come back to try their lunch food and dessert (we were too full today).
