The restaurant is pretty basic, nothing to write home about. But the ingredients they use are fresh and delicious. They even make their own bread and the meat they use, so that is a huge plus. The balance of spices and flavors is good to my taste. You do pay a bit of premium for the döner compared to other restaurants, but its still cheap. You can get also iskender and kebab plates if you are not into döner. They also have veggie options, but we did not taste these. While at the place, you can also visit other ethnic stores in the area.

Every time we went by this place from the underground they were open. Holidays and Sundays and every hour. I didn't even see hours on the door, but I assume they close at some point. I mean, almost everything is closed on Easter and even normal Sundays, but they were always open. This is a great place for some fries and a beer or a doner and a beer. It looked cozy and looked like German home cooking. The quaint rustic restaurant was busy the night we went. The waitress which looked like the owner gave us a quick nod to tell she saw us as she was delivering some yummy looking food to a table. We waited by the bar. She led us to a corner table and German menu. Thank goodness for Google translate. It was enough to figure out the menu and also to say Very good once the food was delivered. She gave us a great smile. Thumbs up and another beer! We certainly knew our schnitzel was being made as we can hear the pounding from the kitchen. What came out of the kitchen really did feel like home cooking. We haven't had a bad meal so are in Berlin and this is no different. Mittmanns is a cozy local restaurant that according to the signage has been around for quite a long time and I think it will be around for a while.
