My daughter began dance at the Ballet Conservatory when she was 3 and continued until she graduated from high school. She had several teachers over the 15 years of her dance education at BC. The teacher she had most frequently in those 15 years was the director of the studio. She provided my daughter with exceptional ballet training, and she was kind and patient with her students. When my daughter was younger, she would want to "play ballet" with me at home. She assumed the role of teacher and I was the student. I could tell by what she said to me, she was emulating this teacher. If I did something "incorrectly," she would tell me and show me the "right" way (I needed a lot of corrections-haha), always in a very positive way. My daughter was very shy, and I know she parroted what her teacher said to her. As she grew older, she thought she wanted to be a professional dancer and spent 5 + hours at the studio, 5 days a week. My husband and I did not force her to do this. She could have stopped or cut back at any time. During her junior and senior years she did cut back on tap and jazz, but continued ballet even though she realized she did not want to be a professional dancer. She enjoyed her dance classes, particularly ballet and learned many valuable life lessons along the way. The director consistently provided parents information on eating disorders associated with dance and the signs to look for, the importance of good nutrition, and other topics related to dance which I found very informative. This studio also welcomed dancers of all abilities and body types. I would highly recommend this studio to anyone who has a dancer, young or old, beginner or experienced. I appreciate the training my daughter received from all the teachers at BC. She has become a poised and confident young woman, and many of the lessons and principles she learned in dance have been applied in her adult life. Even though it has been many years, my daughter still returns to watch some of the performances the Ballet Conservatory is associated with and looks forward to seeing the teachers, (most of whom are still teaching at BC) who had such a positive influence in her life. read more
