**From the perspective of a Canadian tourist** I'd give here a 3.5 I think. Came on a sunny Sunday evening with friends for dinner around 7pm. When we arrived, we were told it would be at least a 20 minute wait for a table. We decided to hang out in the bar area in the meantime. But as soon as we started walking toward the bar area, a staff member came up to us and said there was a table available. I was a bit confused as a whole dining section was mostly empty and they sat us there, so not sure what the wait would have been for? Anyway. We got a table up a couple of steps in a back round-shaped room, with lots of natural lighting, several half booth/half tables, in a comfortable homey atmosphere. To start, I ordered a mojito, which was pretty and tasty as they should be. I ordered the Vegetarian Platter as an appetizer to split (10.95 pounds. "Brie tempura, posh cheese, nachos, melon, strawberries, rocket salad, vegetable tempura and garlic bread"). The nachos were just a few chips with salsa, jalapenos and a small bit of cheese in a cup, very basic. The veggie tempura had a couple of mushrooms and zucchini chunks. The brie tempura had two chunks and was deliciously hot and melted inside. The rocket salad (which I had never heard of before) seem to be just a bit of greens. The garlic bread was two standard slices. The melon & berries came in a tiny cup. The bruschetta was one slice which we cut in two, and quite good. This platter would be enough as a meal on its own for one person. I was pretty full from splitting it. For an entree however, I ordered the Sweet Potato & Chickpea Curry (9.95 pounds. with coriander rice) which was very good and typical of what you'd get at an Indian restaurant. I could only finish half, so took half to go. One of my friends had the Cullen Skink for an appetizer (5.95 pounds). I had no idea what this was from the name, but it's a seafood chowder, and he seemed to like it just fine. My other friend had the Goat Cheese Burger (10 pounds) which she had tried in the past and remembered loving it. It comes with two onion rings inside and fried goat cheese patties, a pickle, lettuce and side of frozen, but good fries on the side. I found service a bit slow and less attentive than I am used to in Canada, but my friend says that is the norm in Scotland where staff usually leave you alone and you get their attention when you need them. I would come back here though anytime I'm in the area again. read more
