The light house is not open to the public from the outside. Guests to the water front can walk around the light house. Pose for a picture. Pick up seashells. In a great year, 1977; the national park service actually acquired this property. The light house is at the end of the derby wharf. It allows ships to come home and into the harbor safely . Wave your hands high as we soak up the water and all that salty air. As I watch individuals play along the water front it's hard not to smile and laugh. The twins make fun noises of joy. It's a sort of dance with life that makes me feel alive. Life is this beautiful gift, all the circumstances that has transformed us to this moment were worthy of wonder and joy. Close your eyes, imagine that salty air . The smells of the sea, your breath in rhythms of happy as your heart beats. The waves crash against the shore . If only the smiles were mine. I live in the moment with the children. For it is their happiness that is mine. If life seized right now, I would be happy that we shared this happiness.

Each house is loaded with period artifacts relevant to Beverly and to top it off there is a huge accessible collection of documents, records and personal items for researchers and genealogists. A must stop for anyone interest in North Shore or early American history.

The Salem Witch Trials Memorial is just beautiful, but also incredibly heavy and moving. It's a…read morewonderful tribute to those who were wrongfully accused and executed. As you make your through the memorial, you'll see that people leave flowers, coins and other small trinkets just atop the stones with the engravings of each persons name & date of execution. Just steps away next to the memorial is a very old small house that is free enter. The home belonged to Samuel Pickman and serves as the welcome center for the burial grounds. It dates back to 1664 making it one of the oldest surviving houses. The simplicity and thoughtfulness of the tribute make it even more meaningful. It's a place that deserves to be visited to reflect on the history & tragedy that took place.

There is a lot of kitschy witch stuff around Salem, but this is a truly beautiful memorial.

The tour guide said the town was not initially receptive to the show being based/filmed in Salem because they thought it was disrespectful to the tragedy of the witch trials. It turns out Bewitched helped revitalize Salem and locals became much more accepting. Elizabeth Montgomery visited the town and our tour guide said the little girls in Salem were all trying to wiggle their nose like her. The statue is easy to find and a very cute addition to the downtown area.

I've been a resident of Salem for a few years now and was embarrassed to tell our tour guide I had…read morenever been out to Danvers to see the original Salem Town/ Salem Farm historical sights related to the witch trials before. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging and answered every question we had. I learned many of interesting facts on our 45 min tour of the property. The replica of the Old Meeting House used to film "Three Sovereigns for Sarah" really places you back in time and gives you an idea of where the innocent victims were humiliated and denounced in front of their family, neighbors, and friends. This is definitely a stop everyone should see in addition to visiting Salem to learn more about the Salem Witch Trials and the hard life the villagers had over 300 years ago. I highly recommend walking the trail to the Rebecca Nurse Memorial and graveyard adjacent to property and across the farm land.

Salem was once a center of global trade and wealth; ship captains brought rare treasures and curiosities back from their voyages to the East India Marine Society, a precursor to the PEM. The modern PEM maintains this tradition of curiosity. Instead of just hanging famous paintings on a wall, the museum curates its galleries as capsules of interconnected history and events. The curators do an excellent job of creating cohesive exhibits that seamlessly follow the narrative of a specific time, place, or concept. This approach gives the individual pieces so much more meaning and context. On top of this, they consistently rotate galleries with special exhibits, so there is always something new to explore. Some of the big highlights: The Salem Witch Trials exhibit features authentic objects and firsthand accounts from the tragedy. Meanwhile, Salem Stories highlights the city's broader historical significance. Anila Quayyum Agha's amazing giant cubic hanging lantern projects an intricate light pattern across an entire room. Explore the newly redone East India Marine Hall, which displays some of the earliest objects collected by Salem sea captains. Finally, don't miss the Yin Yu Tang house - an entire, 200-year-old Qing Dynasty home transported from China and meticulously rebuilt inside the museum.

I've never walked in something so old. It was interesting to see the construction and walk through it.
