Really nice, clean beach. Quiet at night. Waves r big. Prob one of the nicest beaches to go to.

What a nice beach! The view at the Balboa Beach was great. There is a great view of the sunset here, a pier, and it's not too crowded at all. There is also plenty of room to play in the sand as well as volleyball nets and a play set for kids. The only downside here is the parking is a little hard to find and the parking right next to the beach fills up pretty quick. Other than that this is a great beach to visit!

Waiting to dive under those waves or else you'd get washed up.

This review is based on 2 visits in Aug. The first visit was on a Friday, arrived around 2:00pm. Plenty of convenient parking available that was just steps from the sand, love that. It wasn't crowded at all, lots of space to lay out your things. The shore was very well maintained. Second visit on a Sunday, arrived around 1:00. Parking was a bit of a nightmare which we anticipated. This time we decided to set up on the bathroom/shower side just for convenience. Typical beach bathroom. Overall we really enjoy this beach. I only have one real complaint for Sunday and it really has nothing to do with the actual beach, it was the people. I was pretty disgusted about all the trash that was left behind. Me and my son filled up 2 grocery bags of trash including lots of plastic, netting, styrofoam, food (gross!), etc., Two bags and just in our little surrounding area! This was on Sunday and there was lots of little ones but if they're littering so are their parents. One last note. I understand the waves are forever changing but on both days the waves were pretty big and broke on shore. I got sucked in and spit out a couple times. My son loved getting tossed around by the waves. Make sure you're paying attention as you should always :)

Great place to come and walk around. Tons of shops, restaurants, bars, and of course the beach! Came down here after 6pm and the parking was free. Got a chance to watch a great sunset.

The residence was represented accurately ahead of time and had everything we needed to simply move right in. Any issues that we had were dealt with in a timely fashion. Throughout the stay, we dealt with pre‑existing issues (including a faulty toilet seat, loose towel racks, and other maintenance problems) that were documented in photos and reported via Airbnb at the outset. Instead of taking responsibility for those defects, the host later tried to reframe them as "guest damage" and filed a last‑minute claim nearly two weeks after checkout. The most troubling part is how the host attempted to justify the claim. They produced "Greenland Maintenance" invoices that, when you look at the contact details, appear to trace back to the host/management company itself, not an independent contractor, and even listed a non‑functional email address. A separate retail receipt showed inexpensive linen purchases from a big‑box store, presented as if they were evidence of substantial "damage." On top of that, this is a pet‑friendly listing with hefty upfront charges: cleaning fee, carpet shampoo fee, linen fee, and pet fee. After collecting all of those, the host still tried to bill hundreds of dollars more for so‑called "deep cleaning" for pet hair and minor chair "stains" that fall squarely within what any reasonable guest would expect those existing fees to cover. It felt like an attempt to double‑charge rather than a good‑faith response to actual damage. The cleaners were physically waiting in the driveway at checkout and entered immediately after we left, yet no issues were raised at the time. Only at the very end of Airbnb's reporting window did the host file an $800 claim. That timing, combined with self‑issued invoices and vague allegations, left me with zero confidence in the honesty or professionalism of this operation. I would not stay with this host again, and I would strongly urge anyone considering this property to read the fine print on all the extra fees and to document everything extensively if you decide to book despite these concerns. Airbnb are now taking action against them, per the screenshot attached of an email from Airbnb.

We were welcomed to a clean guest house and even included disinfectant wipes. The fridge was stocked with water and the kitchen included all the tools you need to cook with such as pots, pans, salt, and oil. The home was quiet for the majority of our stay and the host respected our privacy. She even included some delicious bar of dark chocolate. Overall, our stay was amazing. The host herself was great. Very accommodating and went above and beyond after I mistakenly left my khakis there. She immediately had them shipped to my home. She was so nice and communicated with me the entire time. Probably the best host I've had the pleasure of dealing with. This is guesthouse is saved as one of my favorites. I for sure will return when I need another weekend away with my significant other. I can't say it enough, this home is great and I highly recommend it to anyone considering to stay in Pasadena.

I had total privacy during my trip - hosts/owners live next door but other than hearing some jazzy piano playing on one of my walks through the neighborhood I never ran into them which is exactly how I like it. They checked in on me every couple of days via text, and when I needed a couple of additional kitchen towels for an incident involving some out of control spaghetti sauce, there was a small bag filled with towels outside the door within five minutes. The thing that will definitely bring me back is the blindingly fast internet - ATT Fiber for the win!

My sister and I stayed here for a long weekend -- the bed was comfy, the place was quiet (even with the other unit occupied), the neighborhood felt safe, and the free parking was a huge plus. It's a cozy and refreshing place to stay in after months of being cooped up for shelter-in-place. A lot of restaurants were open nearby for takeout and Erehwon was conveniently a few minutes away. Meeting Gary and Jaime was awesome, my sister and I had some pleasant & socially-distanced conversations with them. They were attentive, kind, and lovely hosts :-) COVID-19-related note: the kitchen / entrance area is shared with folks that are staying in the other unit. We felt safe enough to be in that room with masks on and to eat a meal, but know this if this is something you're concerned about. Absolutely stay here if you're considering it!

This review is for CORONADO STUDIO:…read more We had a family wedding to attend in Pasadena in May, and decided to stay in the Silver Lake area where the groom (my husband's brother) lives since that's where pre-wedding events would be taking place. So six family members ended up renting all three Sanborn properties for the weekend, each had very positive things to say. My husband and I stayed at the Coronado for four nights and absolutely loved it! For $85 a night, you can't beat having a full kitchen and FREE wifi! I think we managed to only buy two meals while were were on our trip. We spent about $100 on groceries at the Smart & Final near the apartment, and cooked most of our meals there, which saved us a ton of money! The host we talked to a couple of times, Jonathon, was very friendly and helped us with our luggage right off the bat. One huge plus was not having to clean the apartment before we checked out. I have rented a handful of houses before which we always had to "clean" ourselves if we didn't want to pay extra. The Coronado did not make us clean (even though we did as much as we could to not look like slobs upon leaving for common courtesy). I saw other people complain about thin walls, and hearing the other tenants in the building. That was never an issue while we were there. One of our favorite features was the rear entry to the private parking area. We didn't use the front door once while we were there. The only thing I would want to mention is that the driveway to the private parking is SO narrow, it would be unlikely that anything other than a small SUV or car could make it up the driveway. There's no way a Tahoe or anything large like that would be able to utilize the private parking. It worked fine for us in our Jeep Patriot, but we had to be very careful. The apartment isn't in the best neighborhood, but it seemed safe enough while we were there, and it's just minutes from Silver Lake and some great shopping on Sunset Blvd. There was a great view of the city at night from our balcony, and I really enjoyed looking out at night when the city was all lit up. All and all, we very much enjoyed our stay at the CORONADO and would highly recommend it, and stay there again. We also visited Tyler's Place where my in-laws were staying, and it was really nice. I probably wouldn't stay there however, as they had to share a kitchen with other guests they didn't know. That would work great if both sides of the house were being rented by people in your party though.

We had the loft and another party had the side room. We have no issues sharing the common space and it was fun to experience. This April, I scored a 2 night in cottage 4B on the only rainy/gloomy weekend we've had here. Of all the luck. Within 6days of reservation date, you lose 1 night stay so it was sunk cost so I went ahead and did both nights. Easy to check in and checkout. If you are down the hill, you can get a ride on the golf carts which are very nice. 2 cars overnight as well per cabin. Rooms were clean. There is no AC so be prepared depending on your weather. I wanted to leave windows open but most don't have a screen so you get bugs and I was afraid of critters coming in. Currently there are full cottages (like an Airbnb), dorms (private rooms with shared living space),and three ADA cottages. The prices range from $53 -$338 per space, per night, all year. Reservations for the cottages open up 6 months in advance at 8am, and the dorms open up 1 month in advance at 8am. The max time length is 7 days, per reservation. They are located right on the beach in Crystal cove, with full kitchens, bedding, towels, and toilet paper. The views are GORGEOUS!!! Lots of windows, and there is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing. We stayed in 29B which is the loft inside building 29 (4 twin beds and private bath downstairs) so cute, so comfortable, and just a lovely stay! The Beachcomber restaurant is located right on the beach as well, serving breakfast lunch and dinner. SUPER packed in summer, not such much in winter. There is a snack bar area, a couple historical building, and a souvenir shop adjacent to the restaurant. The Shake Shack is up at the top of the cliff, up a huge flight of stairs, on PCH. There is also a private meeting room located next to the reg office if you wanted to host a meeting overlooking the ocean. PLEASE NOTE FOR PARKING: the reg office is located past the ranger station, and you have to drive up there to get your keys and unload your car. Then you are given a parking permit, and have to drive your car across the street (PCH) and walk back to the cottage area, about a 10 min walk with minor hills. For the ADA cottages, you can park very close to the cottage. PRO-TIP: bring your own coffee cups, plates, silverware. Very limited in the cabin
