Luckily for long-term visitors, there's always the more affordable options in the form of Doner Kebabs, Lekkerbek, and Surinamese cuisine; I'm willing to bet that there may be better options somewhere in the Hague, but you won't find anywhere that beats Bakkerij Maxima in terms of cost performance on the new and upcoming Hendrikstraat. Maxima offers all the suspect Bakkerij essentials including your choice of broodje or durum doner (chicken or veal), and also falafel for those engaged in more animal-conscious diets. They also sell a wide range of Turkish pastries both savory and sweet; alongside some of your favorite flavored yogurt drinks from Asia Minor. My recommendation is either the broodje kip with the works + hot sauce, or if you like the durum better, I'd go with kaaf without the hot sauce. Unless you're vegetarian and absolutely have to eat here because all your other buddies are eating too, I wouldn't order the falafel; they take it out of a freezer and it comes out a little soggy even after a thorough frying.
