Excellent baked goods and a good variety of very tasty cakes. Friendly and efficient service…read more Pleasant atmosphere.

Oh this the cutest little bakery/tea shop. Situated on Station Road, it is well worth a visit if…read moreyou're in Milngavie. Everything is so pretty! There isn't a large seating area (only a few tables) but I just popped in to get a few treats to take home. After I had taken plenty of photos (it just had to be done) I finally settled on a peanut butter & white chocolate brownie pretty sure it was a brownie) and a slice of Persian Tea loaf. My excitement levels went through the roof because anyone who knows me knows how much I love tea (I have over 200 different blends). My cakes were boxed up in a brown box and sealed with a Honeybee Bakery sticker. Service with a smile and tea loaf...I left in a rather good mood indeed! The tea loaf was £2.25 a slice and I found it to be really good value for money considering the portion I got. It was moist (even though I hate that word) and melt in the mouth stuff. Definitely going back for more sometime soon because it was that tasty. Highly recommended. My peanut butter and white chocolate cake was nice, but I'm not sure the combination was for me. Although I did finish it, it's not something I would purchase again but that's purely down to my personal taste. Staff were lovely and all of the cakes looked so fresh and inviting. They also sell some amazing looking meringues which I'm going to have to try soon! Highly recommended!

This is essential preventive maintenance to avoid being sucked in by the goodies on display in the window. Today I forgot the protective ritual, and before I knew it I was standing in the queue behind a lady with a pram, salivating like a dog over all the yummy stuff on display (metaphorically speaking of course - what kind of a slob do you think I am?) Veggie sausage rolls, slices of pizza, flapjacks, tarts, gluten-free cakes, flower-pot bread... (wait, what was that last one again?) - for such a small place they produce a fabulous range of tasty treats to tickle your taste buds. There's no coffee and no seating, but they are, after all a BAKERY, people! Not a coffee house. If you want somewhere to sit, cross the road and sit in Mansfield Park, or on one of the outdoor exercise machines as I saw a lady doing as she scoffed her cake - perhaps the mere presence of the machine was counterbalancing the calorific consumption in her head? Great bakery, and a fantastic addition to the Hyndland Street bohemiana.

I come in here just about every time I am strolling through the neighborhood. The bakers are very friendly! Be aware of the limited hours if you are checking-out MHB for the first time. My favourite savory treats are the tomato basil slice and you can't go wrong with any of the rolls. I even like the vegetarian lentil roll, and I'm as carnivorous as people get! I'm sure many of the other items are good too; I just haven't tried them because I get hung up on the delicious things I have already eaten! Onto the important stuff: CAKES and PASTRIES! I love their chocolate volcanoes! I have a new found love for My Home Bakery's lemon-cranberry cake. You also can't go wrong with the almond-crusted strawberry bakewell. My favorite fruity item is the raspberry crumble dowsed in powdered sugar. And if you can't decide, you may need to order a 'party box' to figure it out (see photos). If I am there in the morning the cinnamon brioches are hard to pass up! I got my friend Jeevan hooked on them too! Long story short, there is a reason why the front door says, "diets end here!"

I found out about Amo Torta through my blog and I had the pleasure of trying out their baking…read morerecently. Amo Torta means I love cake! This is such a super cute name, I think it's a really sweet. Amo Torta specialises in gluten/wheat free baking and are based in Glasgow. You can order their cakes for delivery or pop into Roots & Fruits who are stocking some. We sampled some cupcakes, millionaire shortbread as well as lemon poppyseed cake. What a beautiful feast for the eyes these were, especially those cupcakes. The decoration reminded me of being a kid again as I used to think those silver decorative balls were the height of sophistication when I was about 7. There was also pieces of something I think was jewelled sugar which looked great. The cupcake based itself was plain with the delicious pink vanilla-flavoured icing. I don't think to a non-gluten free eater that you'd know they were GF, they had the perfect flavour and consistency for a cupcake. The millionaire shortbread was another treat which didn't lose any flavour for being GF. Topped with chocolate and caramel these are really decadent and best consumed with a cup of tea! My favourite though was the lemon poppyseed cake - moist and with delicious lemon icing with a tangy punch, this is my kind of dessert. They also do dairy free and some low sugar cakes (will definitely get those next time!) as well as celebration cakes. With great communication and tasty cakes, I would definitely order a cake or cupcakes next time I'm having people over so we can all enjoy dessert!

Loathe as i am to agreeing with anybody younger and arguably prettier than myself, i must, despite…read moremy reservations, commend Gordon on his review for this wee place.....damn you!!!!!!! Snot face is right, this is a cracking wee place that's straight out of days of yore in terms of both pricing and style. With most bakers now taking on the Greggs look, its refreshing to find one that ain't. Add to this the great pie's, prepubescent G is right here too, they are pretty damn fine and you have yourself a mighty fine wee find out here in the sticks on Partick. So yeah, if your out this way and fancy some stodge followed by some sugary fat with cream then why not follow young child and my advice...come here....sorry Gordon...it's your own fault for being born after me.

The Wee Bakers provides some welcome relief on a street that is full of nothing but newsagents…read more There is also a few other bakeries further up the street towards Partick, though the Wee Bakers is in my opinion the best of the bunch. The prices are very cheap in the Wee Bakers - for example, it is only £1.55 for a can of Irn Bru, a hot scotch pie and a chocolate chip cookie. There is also a great choice of not only various cakes and pastry food such as sausage rolls and bridies, but also hot soup, filled rolls, tea and coffee. Service is very quick - there is obviously stuff that has already been heated in advance so you don't have to sit and wait for long, though the food is always heated through properly; it's not like in Greggs where they give you a pie that has been sitting out all afternoon and has gone cold. The ladies who work here are also very pleasant and friendly. My only real complaint about this place is that it looks a bit too old and traditional - it would be nice to see the cakes sitting out in more pristine and modern storage trays etc. However, all of the food I have tasted is excellent - the scotch pies in particular taste unique and are possibly the best I've ever eaten (trust me, I've tried them at just about every football ground in Scotland!), while the donuts and cookies are gorgeous, even though I feel terribly guilty every time I indulge in one. T This place absolutely wipes the floor with the two Greggs nearby, not just in terms of the food, but the service too.
