My Apple turn over was nicely glazed, sweet and slightly tanginess from the apple, which I assumed Granny Smith apple, cooked to perfections, still have a bite to it and ration between pastry and feeling, just right. 2. They served a good coffee, everything is just perfect, form the caffeine dosage through the perfect milk temperature. 3. Quick service, friendly and come with smile. They have eggs, bacon and egg rolls, mushy peas, shakshuka and granola. I just got a coffee, quite strong coffee (can't remember the brand), with beautiful latte art. I also got the cheesecake. It is basically a small dome shaped pillow of goodness on top of a biscuit. It is delicious and beautifully presented with white chocolate and a purple swirl. Check it out

I walk past Bowan Island Bakery almost daily when I visit East Village to do my food shopping. It's always full of people eating, drinking, reading the paper, laughing together or simply having a good time. Many come for take away coffees, bread or pastries. There is a simple menu for those who wish to dine-in. My egg roll was put in the sandwich press and squashed to a pancake (photo provided for your amusement). It still tasted good but I've never had an egg roll served like that before! The coffee was nice and I would happily buy a coffee from there again. Next time I visit I'll be getting a take away coffee and freshly baked loaf of bread. Perhaps one of the sour dough loaves that look so good. I don't think I'll go back for a squashed egg roll ;)

They all looked delicious and I ended up buying a chocolate hazelnut brioche for $4.50 which I thought was extremely reasonable for what I got. It was seriously delicious. The chocolate not too sweet and the bread was yummy. Will try their other awesome looking pastries next time I'm in the area.
