I had cataract surgery on both eyes 12 days apart. Left eye on Thursday, August 29th and right eye on Tuesday, September 10th. I didn't even know I had cataracts until my annual exam on Thursday, July 25th. I've been wearing eyeglasses/contacts for over 30 years. I'm just amazed that I no longer need corrective eye wear. It's so nice to see clearly when I wake up in the mornings or during the night. It's also nice not to wake up laying on my glasses because I fell asleep while watching TV with them on. Dr. Baker runs around in and out of rooms without listening to his patients concerns and questions. His 'institute' has a very odd environment, such as heavy Bible quotes on the walls and dozens of paintings of lambs/sheep, which reminds me of cult activities. If you weigh more than what the 'BMI' scale states, he will explicitly tell you to not eat at all in order to loose weight. He will bully you and shame you, and insight fear in you, but when you ask for extra support to loose said weight, he tells you no in a firm manner. I have never had such an awful experience with someone who is supposed to HELP people, and his entitlement radiates off of him like a plague. We will not be returning to this facility. read more

"dr" baker was absolutely terrible. misdiagnosed symptoms, was dismissive, did not listen. spent exactly 2 minutes with me on my symptoms that led to an er visit the same day and a subsequent 7 day hospital stay. told me I had dry eye and to come back in 6 months and that my vision was fine but obviously he knew nothing. I explained that I had absolutely no vision in one eye. thank heavens I didn't listen to him and avoided permanent vision loss by seeking help elsewhere. this was the absolute worst medical experience ever. he had an opening and was able to see me as a new patient with an obvious terrible problem and now I see why. don't use this clinic!!!! read more

I am new in Conway and was referred to Baker eye institute for eyelid lifts that is affecting my vision. Worst experience I've ever had with a doctor. Spent two hours there getting tests and being left in rooms. I was left 20 minutes in a dark room in the middle of a test. When the doctor finally came in it was ridiculous. He didn't really explain anything well and when I asked him questions he seemed frustrated and godlike. In that 4 min session he insulted me twice about my age. For what I wanted done he said he just needed to refer me that he was not going to help me, with no real explanation. He escorted me quickly up to the desk and when I asked if when I went to this doctor was I supposed to come back to him. He was in the hall. When he was finished he walked back over and insulted me by telling me I had anger issues and that I needed anger management. I was so insulted, frustrated and hurt. I've never had anybody say anything like that to me. He proceeded to tell me he would not take me as a patient he would not take me as a patient and he would not take me as a patient and turned on his heel and walked away. As he walked away and I looked at his back I just told him he was a horrible doctor and walked out. read more

I have to say that I was actually surprised at the attention I received at this eye clinic. Way better then I have ever been treated at the VA for sure. The wait wasn't to bad as they have very relaxing music playing softly and I did get a full work up done with a appointment for two weeks away. Very quick response and very professionally ran. I highly recommend if you are tired of the same old run around at your eye doctors. read more

I posted a few months ago and I wish to offer an update...After complaining about blurry vision and seeing Dr. Baker at his morning worst, and being told in no uncertain terms, that I must be deranged. My eyes and his cataract surgery were dang near as good as famous ballplayer Ted Williams. As it turns out, my blurry vision was being caused by a long-term use of Zanax. Huh! I wonder why they ask you to bring all your prescriptions in? You'd think a surrly surgeon would know that. Huh? read more

Dr. Baker took my vision from 20/400 in each eye to 20/20 with PRK surgery. He is very intelligent and explained the procedure in depth and reassured me of the success of the surgery. The procedure was quick and effective with the results being a life-changing experience. ( no more contacts or glasses!) When choosing a doctor, I believe in choosing a doctor who is well-educated and has the experience to ensure the best results! read more

My mother-in-law has come to several appointments at the Baker Eye Institute and has always had to wait 2-5 hours after her appointment time before seeing the doctor. Once she did not get out of the office until 9:00pm. They don't seem to care that they are putting the patient in dangerous situation from prolonged setting to late night driving. This establishment seems greedy. It appears they are booking as many people as it legally can without concern for the actual patient's health in having to wait for hour upon hour after the appointment time to see the doctor. Such a waste of time, life, and health. read more

I'm from out of state and I broke my glasses. They were so helpful and quick at responding to what I needed. They didn't have my prescription but they gave me other labs to call. They were so patient and helpful. I'd definitely go to them if I lived in Arkansas. read more

After surgery my mother had Posterior Capsule Opacity that Dr. Baker had to fix with a laser. While trying to ask a question Dr. Baker told us that he had already lost money on her and that he had people to pay. Also beware of using the multifocal lense. Dr. Baker told my mother that he would change her to the mono lense if she didn't adjust. After the surgery he said he never said that. I would think twice before using him if you want a doctor that will explain things and doesn't have a foot out the door the whole time. read more

I bought a pair of eye glasses from Connie at Baker Eye Institute. They are the worse pair of glasses I've ever owned. I paid $400.00 for them. She wouldn't take any time with me to see if they fit properly and just told me they look like they fit fine. The lenses are too wide, they slip down my nose and I can see clearly with them. They are supposed to have progressive lenses which I've always had in the past. I'm bumping into things, constantly trying to readjust them to see anything at all. They don't fit on my ears properly. My guess is they are a one size fits all which is something I am particular to avoid because I have a narrow face. read more
