But Fine Wine Fine Food Northmead were brave enough to try and they have been very successful. It is family owned and run and most of their customers are on a first name basis. The front of the shop is all food: jars of preserves and conserves, sauces and oils along with a fridge that sells English pork pies, exquisite dips and lovely cheeses. At lunch time they serve hot fish and chips, prawns, crabs claws, scallops and calamari. They are very generous with their serving size. They were buzzing around topping up water every few minutes, clearing stuff away, and constantly checking if everything was okay or if there was anything else you needed. The food is basic but really flavoursome and good sized servings. We shared some wedges and then each had either steak or chicken for the main. Each came with their signature mushroom sauce too.
