We stumbled upon this bakery on a whim when walking around the parking lot looking at other things…read more Even though we were about to go eat dinner, we stopped in for a treat. I was pretty taken aback by how many dessert options they had. Not only did they have a plethora of types of desserts, but they had sooo many flavors/varieties of each one. A dozen different variations of cheesecakes, several cupcake varieties, a dozen different kinds of macarons, several different cakes, tiramisu, tres leches, banana pudding, edible cookie dough, more cookies than I could name, brownies, eclairs, and more that I'm sure I have forgotten. If you can name it, I'm sure they have it. I've been looking for somewhere nearby to get a proper macaron (as opposed to a hard, macaron shaped cookie without the traditional texture) at a reasonable price point. This definitely met those criteria, so of course we tried a flower shaped macaron. It had the perfect, delicate cookie and that classic, light almondy flavor. We also had a brownie batter cookie, which was delicious and reminds me of something I would have saved on Pinterest a decade ago but never gotten around to making, much less as well as they do. Though there was a line inside, we were served super quickly by friendly staff, and found a nice seat outside in the sun. They also had abundant indoor seating. Maybe I'm the last one to hear about Sweet Dough and everyone else has been a fan, or maybe it's a true hidden gem. Either way, I will 100% be back.

Also a good place to stop for sweets! So many options and…read moreI'm sure you'll find something you'll love! The interior was beautiful and the service was awesome!

If this is what you're looking for, then Sift and Crumb Coat is the place to go! We needed cookies for a corporate event out of town, and found this place on-line, and from our very first telephone Oossie was such a pleasure to work with. I sent pictures of what we wanted, and she was very accommodating. Being nearly 2500 miles away, I was very nervous about this order and contacted Oossie a lot, and she never made me feel like I was bothering her. Fast forward to the day of the event, and unfortunately her delivery driver was hit while headed to our drop-off. Causing irreparable damage to a portion of our order. The bakery called us immediately, and then went into action and in a flash worked furiously to remake as many of the cookies as possible in order to fulfill as much of our order as they could. The cookies that arrived were gorgeous, tasted delicious and although it was less than we had expected, they were amazing! This event was highlighting the release of a new door knob, and the cookies shaped as a door, with the knob on them were spot on! Then, before we even contacted them to discuss the shortages, the company had refunded me for what we didn't receive and sent us a gift certificate for a future purchase. I've always said you can tell the true character of a business and their owner by how they handle their "issues," and in this case, Sift and Crumb Coat went above and beyond in a situation that was unavoidable. I will be using Sift and Crumb Coat again, and think you all should too!

I was presented with a photo cake with flaws pointed out by the owner. I was also presented with cupcakes, all different sizes, and that had broken edges due to touching while baking. Also, the part of the cake that had the picture on it was edible, however we were unable to eat it. I paid $125. I was told by the owner that "she was trying to help me out" because I needed the cake in such a short period of time. However, before coming to her bakery, I called, and asked, if she had enough time for what I wanted and the time I needed it by. She advised that she WOULD be able to do it & that's when I visited her place of business to place my order. Had I known that because of the lack of time I would get a thrown together product, I would have definitely taken my business elsewhere. She also advised that the flaw in the cake was "no biggie" and that it could have been fixed in the matter of minutes...if this is the case, why was it not fixed before I saw the cake? She explained too, that she bakes by hand and "if I wanted uniformed cupcakes I should have went to Walmart". (Right there she is telling me That Walmart's work is better then hers, which it is, but I just never expected this from a professional baker) She also advised that I was making a big deal about small issues. Never once during this entire transaction did I receive a "thank you" or an "I'm sorry". Her attitude is "I can't please everyone" and that's it. Coming from a family of small businesses, you have to know how to accept positive as well as negative feedback, because this in turn will help your business grow. The vibe is pure microbrewery and I'm so here for it! They are a hybrid brewery/taproom so they have 5-6 of their own beers and a variety of other local/NC breweries, which is great to keep options open while also showcasing in-house brewing! Jeff, the owner & brewer, was behind the bar when I came in and he is the epitome of the foundation of the craft brew scene. All of the in-house beers were fantastic! The quality and beer artistry that went into the beers was evident with each sip! Also, u gotta luv a place that commits to a theme! This one is board sports and from the name to the decor to the beer names, it is ubiquitous and I'm so here for it! The taproom is small yet weirdly spacious...w/bar, table, upstairs, and even patio seating! So come for the beers and stay for the flight boards (as each one is unique)! Beers had: -Vert Ramp Vanilla Cream Ale 5.3% The flavor notes on both the nose & body/finish on this one -Mile Marker 55 Mango Wit 5% Luved that the hint of very distinct mango was on the finish and the wheat/wit was on the front/middle palate! -Morning Sesh Coffee Stout 7% The coffee was prevalent but not overpowering...I could have this beer w/bfast! Made w/Dark Roast Sumatra -Get Barreled BBA Stout 10.1% This is perfection for the abv; no cloying sweetness, u get the toffee/vanilla behind the finish from the barrel-aging but the tannins & malt from the stout -in-barrel come through gorgeously giving u an unsweet BBA stout that holds up to the 10.1% -Shape Shack Passion Fruit Pear Sour 3.4% I usually don't do sours but this one drinks like a prickly pear (fruit) margarita, and I'm not mad about it!
