Hidden Gem!! MUST VISIT only If you want the Anthony Bourdain experience (meaning a place off the beat and path in a less visited part of town by tourists but run by warm young people with amazing food and a great quaint homely feel...) this is it!!! I stumbled across this place on my month long Cabo vacation and by far this was my favorite 'hole in the wall'. The place is run by a young Mexican chef Cynthia and her food is magic! She weaves modern presentations with 'grandmas recipes' to create beautiful food! The first time I visited there was just one other patron there at the time and I sat down at the 'family-style' table they had near him. I was fixated on the dishes he was eating... let's just say he was happy-happy Cynthia's boyfriend (Carlos I think) greeted me and we began to chat; he was a DJ and seafood chef that had recently decided to move back to Cabo and help Cynthia make her magic. We chatted a bit about Cabo, the local restaurant scene, tourist scene, urban tourism, and music... basically, I felt as if I was visiting a friend at his restaurant getting the low-down of the area. After a while, it was time to eat and I asked Carlos to pick a few things for me.... I wasn't disappointed!!! (By this time ts was just Cynthia and Carlos and I) First, there was the 7 hande made hot sauces .... the ones with the nuts are to die for... Cynthia explained that most of the sauces were from the part of Mexic she grew up in, but that a few of the others where with peppers from where Carlos grew up. Then Cynthia began to bring me several small dishes (that I hadn't even ordered...) each one was more amazing than the next (see photos) I guess I bugged Cynthia so much that when I got up to leave she brought me a few little to-go containers with some of the dried peppers she used to make here salsa's with instructions how to make them on my own... as well as a recommendation and direction to the local spice market for a bigger variety of spices. Found this gem of a place on our last day. The food here is all made in house and so good. We had the tacos dorados with potatoes (papas) and enchiladas with beef. The enchiladas are real home style enchiladas. Service is warm and welcoming, our waitress had limited English skills but took great care of us. Besides her English is better than my Spanish They are very vegetarian friendly. They have the best horchata in Cabo, the jamica is also good. read more

So happy to find a vegetarian/vegan option (and yes they have meat options too)... it's a small place, we were the only ones there, and everything was made fresh for us. I'm not vegan but my friend I'm traveling with is, so we tried it. Everything was really amazing, and I'm not even big on vegan food. All the dishes, and the hibiscus water, is fantastic. And the presentation is beautiful. They offer 5 sauces of varying spiciness, and usually don't like too hot, but the hottest sauce they offer soooo flavorful, it's the hottest thing I've ever liked! I went here by myself last night. Had tacos dorado with potato topping. Together with sauces it was awesome. Really nice people. Cozy feel. The place was empty. No tourist prices here, yet just a block or so from the main tourist drag. They started with complementary mini tostadas that were to die for. I won't describe it because you should go check it out yourself and support these good people. This will be my new go to spot. They serve meat and vegetarian dishes too. Super cute restaurant with delicious vegan and traditional food. The food was so fantastic and so was the service, it was so great that my girlfriend and I dined here a few times while in Cabo. It was our favorite restaurant. It's a little off the beat and path of bustling main streets but it's not far and easy an easy walk. We enjoyed the quiet setting sitting outside with a lovely atmosphere. We had the sampler each time and tried nearly every item on the menu. This is one of the hidden treasures of Cabo, especially for Vegan/Vegetarians who are getting sick of chips and guac. Nestled down a quiet side street off the main drag, the atmosphere is perfect for a nice date night dinner before heading to the bars. We had the Sampler made vegan for us. Cynthia, the owner was cooking and serving us and was excited that we found her restaurant as well as excited that she could show off her authentic Veracruz style Mexican food to us. We have been coming to Cabo for years and have been to all the great restaurants as well as the lesser known off the beaten path, and this meal was the best food we have had here by far. They begin by bringing out a plate with six different sauces which add layers of complexity and flavor to every dish. These go well with every dish and range from savory to mild to hot. While it is a small place, it is very cozy and romantic. Cynthia loved to explain her dishes and was so proud of being able to bring joy through her food. The price is the last thing I'll talk about. We had enough food for 4 people as well as melon infused water each, made of freshly juiced melon. The bill came out to $14USD. We thought there was a mistake and that she forgot to charge us, but Cynthia assured us the price was correct and that she knows she could charge more and that her food is worth a lot more, but she wants everyone to be able to enjoy it. Awesome little hidden gem tucked away on a side street. The menu was simple and refreshing compared to many other places that have too many offerings. We got the combo "platter" which they coursed out one at a time. They made everything vegan for us which is also refreshing and hard to find, especially in Cabo. The service was friendly and attentive and the drinks were awesome and house made (horchata, pina colada water, etc). The hot sauces are not to be missed, especially their special sesame sauce. Dear hungry person in Cabo, I struggled with how a review would do this place justice. Like many other places in Cabo, Bajarosha is well-rated but there's something about this place that warms your soul and can't be captured in the number of stars. 1. The food is some of the best I've had in my life - I nearly broke down in tears having the spicy sesame dip & the mash potato taco dorados. Cynthia is a savant when it comes to creating corn bases - order the sampler to try them all. 2. The prices were so low it was a head scratcher. Our bill was ~$13 for our first meal for two (yes we came back again) and we were stuffed. You get a true tasting menu for what you would pay for one drink elsewhere. 3. The passion, hospitality, humility & story telling from the owners are legendary. You don't get to meet people like this everyday. Every year? Especially in the context of Cabo, where service can feel contrived & fueled by tips, the authenticity of Bajarosha feels like both a relief & a delight. We went back for a second dinner before we left Cabo and the place was nearly empty. It could have been the lull of Christmas week but still, it bothered me that there was this incredible talent hidden away. So here are my tips for getting you over the hurdle: - This place is tucked a block (a long block) away from the main road. Since it's residential, you feel like you're headed in the wrong direction, just look for the string of lights & small picnic tables on the patio. - Don't worry about a 'menu' - they have most standard fare options so there is something for everyone. And they're very accommodating with dietary restrictions. - If you're not vegetarian/vegan, trust me this place will rock anyone's world. We had this fried beef ball (forgot the name), my goodness, so juicy, so crispy. - It is family friendly. There is a cool vibe to the place but I could see kids adoring this place. - Get there early. They ran out of Horchata our first night. Our second night it was clear why. People apparently stop by to buy Horchata by the liter. I fell in love with the dips & bought four bottles to take home (2 sesame & 2 pumpkin seed). Made it through checked luggage & customs. Carlos and Cinthia were very gracious hosts to us on our visit from the US. The food is flat out amazing. We had the sampler w Gorditas, Empanadas, Tacos Blandos, and Tacos Dorados. The cost was very well set. 180 pesos or about $10 for each of us. The Melon Infusiones + Horchata we're also great. The restaurant is a cenaduria meaning it's like eating a family meal as part of their home. This was hands-down the best restaurant we went to in Cabo! The trip to Bajarosha made the entire trip worthwhile, and we might even make another trip to Cabo just for Bajarosha. From start to finish, this was an experience we will remember for a long time. We were seated immediately outside and were immediately welcomed by the owner, Carlos. Carlos was incredibly kind and patient with us as he explained each dish on the menu. At his recommendation, we ordered the sampler, which has 4 dishes. Even though the sampler is typically for 2 people, he was kind enough to make it a one-and-a-half sampler so that everyone in our party of 3 could have one portion. Every dish in the sampler was divine. On our trip, the sampler started with tacos blandos, which were like taquitos with mashed potatoes. Then, he brought out empanadas with ground beef. The third course was a heavenly shrimp, bacon, and avocado gordita. The final course was a bocole with shredded beef. YUM! As someone who eats a lot of Mexican food, this was by far the most authentic and delicious Mexican food I have ever had. It was also a phenomenal value!! When we complimented Carlos' food, he explained that his family owns and runs the restaurant, which is adjacent to their house. Easily the best meal we've had in Mexico! The owners are incredibly sweet and hardworking and their excellent food reflects this. I am vegetarian, which can sometimes be difficult while traveling, but the first thing we were asked upon entering Bajarosha is whether we had any dietary restrictions. Bajarosha is extremely accommodating of vegetarian or even vegan diets, which I greatly appreciated. My boyfriend and I ordered the sampler, which was made half vegetarian for me, horchata, and hibiscus water. Everything was amazing, and we loved the tacos dorado so much, we asked for an extra serving! This was about a six course meal with the appetizer and extra serving included for two people plus drinks that totaled just $22 USD. This was the best meal I had all week in Cabo San Lucas! I wish we had found them soon on our visit. My husband humored me by suggesting Bajarosha for dinner tonight because I was tired of the traditional Mexican sea port fish taco and ceviche meal and wanted something vegetarian. Both of us were blown away by the beautiful presentation and intense flavors of each dish. We had the sampler which was plenty for two, and an order of cheese empanadas because we couldn't help ourselves. We had horchata (a secret recipe that is dessert in a cup!) and cantaloupe water as beverages. Five unique salsas were served to accompany the meal and was hard to chose a favorite. We were able to snag some of the sesame salsa to take home. Cynthia, Carlos and Carlos are wonderful hosts and *really* made our visit special. We were looking for a spot that wasn't pricey since Cabo is such a tourist area. This place was actually 2 mins walking distance from our Hotel (Norman Diego) and were so lucky to find this cute little gem. It's a cute petite spot with great vibes. The people here are SO NICE!! We were struggling to find authentic vegetarian Mexican food and we were so happy to find Bajarosha. Away from the touristy main strip, it's a chill joint in a cute, quiet neighborhood. We ordered the vegetarian sampler and the dishes were all delicious and super creative (not just cheese or beans for everything). The sesame salsa was so delicious.
