I purchased the rack and within 6 months it had rust already so i took the rack back to the to get resprayed December 2023. This is 7 months later and still dont have the roof rack. He will not answer the phone and replies when he wants. he keeps scheduling dates for me to pick it up and the time comes he will never answer the phone. Quite simply put, DO NOT BUY FROM BAJA VOODOO. These racks are made extremely poorly, rust quickly and often do not install the way they are supposed to. On top of that the customer service is terrible. See my story below. I ordered a rack for my 2017 Ford Transit conversion. I ordered it for all the same reasons that everyone else did - it was cheap, looked nice, was local to SoCal. First and foremost the delivery was an issue - they cancelled on me multiple times, showed up hours late when they did eventually dope it off. I was happy to let all this slide though, just excited to be a getting a good rack for my rig. They also asked me for gas money upon arriving with my rack, which I felt was rather odd. The second set of problems that I encountered with the rack was when I was installing it. I was told when I ordered the rack that it was made for my make/model but when I installed it the way they instructed me to the rack did not perfectly line up with where the mounting brackets were so I was unable to used one set of the mounting brackets and full lock them in. The other issue I encountered while installing it was that the hardware they had given me was mismatched and incomplete. Some bolts meant to do the same thing were different lengths, some were the wrong threading etc. I ended up having to go to the hardware store to replace some parts. All that being said, I got the rack installed relatively satisfactorily, it was a little smaller than I wanted but it worked. Fast forward a couple months of having it on the van and I start to encounter real problems. The workmanship on the rack was terrible. Every single weld on the rack had started to rust out within a couple months. They were rusting out so much that they were actually making rust stains on the top of the van. The "powder coating" was a joke. It was spray can bed liner at best. See all the pictures. Unfortunately my knowledge of racks, welds and craftsmanship were relatively limited at the time, otherwise I may have been able to spot these issues sooner. Anyhow, I started calling Baja Voodoo and complaining about the issues with my rack. I could never get through to them on the phone so I started texting. They would rarely respond. I had to be follow up over and over again before I would get a response. Eventually they agreed to take the rack back but I would have to drive it from Los Angeles to Calexico, CA. Almost a 5 hour drive. On the day I drove it to Calexico, I met the owner of Baja Voodoo at his house and he helped me unload the rack into his garage. When it came time for him to give me the money back he said that he didn't have it and that he would write a check. Having read what others had written online about trying to get their money back by this time I refused and said we needed to figure out how to make the money transfer happen then and there. We drove to two different banks so he could withdraw money. He kept saying that the withdrawal limit for the day had been reached. We tried every option possible. Eventually I got him to give me half the money back in cash and he promised to send the rest the next day when the bank was open. Thank my lucky stars the money did come through the next day and I was able to walkaway without taking too heavy of a loss, aside for my time and gas money. To anyone considering buying from Baja Voodoo for any kind of rack for your van or other OFV, I highly recommend that you DO NOT BUY from them. I went ahead and ordered an AluRack a month or two later and have been absolutely thrilled with the results I have gotten from it. They also have great customer service!! read more

I guess will add to the dismay of all the other customers on yelp. I wish I would have read some of the reviews ahead of time regarding the Baja Voodoo company. Again, Ricky was glad to take my money and order. Unfortunately, I managed to get charged twice for them and no response from Ricky. I am still currently working on trying to get half my money back from Chase bank, that is proving to be a challenge unto itself. The cut on the air fan was entirely too large and am stuck with a huge open space. I cant even get a response about getting half my money back, theres no way I'm going to receive a piece to make up the difference of the gap that sits on my roof! I wish I could have this posted to Ricky's website so no one else can be scammed by this guy! I have been more than patient with Ricky, and it has offered me nothing in return! STAY AWAY. How this company is in business is beyond me. Contacted Ricky at Baja Voodoo in late december 2019 to order a rack for my 2019 Ford Transit and he assured me that he could have a rack built and delivered to me by the end of January. January came and went and he had reassured me that it would be done and delivered several times. I had given him my credit card info to charge when I ordered and I never saw a charge go through. I thought that was suspicious and then at the end of february Ricky called and said that the rack was done and wanted my card info again so he could charge it and then send the rack. I asked him immediately where my card info went from the first time I gave it to him and he told me he didn't remember me giving it to him and he didn't have it so I gave it to him again, this time less enthusiastically. I got tracking info a couple days later and felt fortunate to receive a product. So I finally got my rack on Feb. 20th 1 month late and unfortunately I was excited to recieve it seeing the other reviews of people not getting anything and being charged. He did answer my phone calls every once in a while and would proceed to give me some sob story, they got old really fast. When I received the rack the way they shipped it and packaged it was a JOKE. (see pic) It had rattled together all the way from california so whatever coating that they put on it was worn off and chipped all over already. The welds looked like a first timer was working on it and the brackets, OMG, they were all different angles and the holes were in different spots on each one. I should have known the price was too good to be true. I got the rack mounted up on the Van without the help of any instructions or pictures. Then came time to mount that ladder on the van and it was way too long and most likely for a high roof transit and mine is a mid roof. I wasn't delighted and really didn't want to have to deal with Ricky again. He made it seem like he was actually going to get me a new ladder when I first got a hold of him. Again shame on me for trusting him. Here it is June, 25th 2020 and I still don't have a ladder and my last communication from Ricky was over a month ago with multiple attempts to get a hold of him via call and text. At the end of May I got an alert from my business bank account that someone in California had tried to use my credit card at a cigar shop for the tune of $250 bucks. Luckily the fraud team caught it. Although I can't confirm what caused my info to be compromised it sure seems like there is a bread trail to the culprit. Also, my fault for not cancelling the card when I knew that it most likely had been compromised in the first place. Overall even if this had been a smooth transaction the product is sub standard even at the price point. I don't see it having much longevity as the welds are already popping where the mesh is welded to the main structure. I ordered the solar, awning and led light mount brackets and without instructions I really didn't know which were which. The quality of these items was also laughable. The angles on all the brackets were different and none of the holes were uniform so installation was more difficult than it should have been. Again STAY AWAY and save yourself a GIANT headache. Garbage. The roof rack I got from them looked like a child welded it. Unfortunately I didn't inspect it closely until it was already installed by my mechanic and after it broke into pieces. Which was only 2 months later. It never had more than 75 lbs on it and I only used it 2 times. No response to my emails. So much for standing behind your product. I took it to a welding shop and he said it was junk not worth repairing and that he could have built me a quality rack just like it with heavier material for about 70% of the cost. read more

My story is similar to the rest. I started the night mare in June of 2019. I ordered custom rack for a think a $600.00. Not powder coated. Shovel and axe mount hardware and mounting brackets. I was too late for our 4th of July trip but I had plan other trips all summer. By Sept. I had called a dozen times and got no response. In Oct. I got a call. "Do you still want your rack?" When it shows up there's no instructions at all. We spent a day trying to figure out the hardware only to learn it was the wrong hardware. Now it's March 2020 and I still don't have the correct hardware promised for an additional $40. I have already paid $80 for the wrong set. $150 for powder coating I didn't want or get. $400 for shipping. So I'm at $1300 for this shit. read more

Terrible experience with Baja Voodoo. Seems to resonate with the other reviews as well. My story is very similar, unfortunately. Found their ad on craigslist for a roof rack on my Campervan conversion with a side ladder and talked to Ricky who gladly took my order and credit card. Ordered it for two of my clients as well - this was November of 2019 with slated delivery for December 2019. Delay after delay, "moving warehouses", "new delivery company", "order mix ups", you name it. I'm not an easy person to piss off, but Ricky did it with his mismanagement and quite honestly, most likely lies to his customers. When I did finally receive the racks in February, it was a mess. The custom brackets were wrong, pieces were missing, the powder coating was chipped in some spots, wrapped in others, terrible weld jobs (amateur at best), and missing parts all over the place such as support brackets to keep the rack together. In other words, I'm sure a high school shop class would do a better job putting this mess together. Not that it mattered with the missing pieces and poor craftsmanship, but no instructions either. His excuse was the shipment went to the wrong spot and his guy would retrieve and send it to the correct spot the next day. Followed up, never happened. After a week, Ricky said he would just make the parts again because they can't locate the box and he would need measurements. Sent measurements and waited. Two and a half weeks later, even though I was promised next day delivery, received a box with the wrong parts for the wrong van. Called Ricky, again, and after a week - he apologized, said he would make it right. I drafted up the required design for the brackets and he said he would next day ship the missing pieces once the custom brackets were made. Two weeks later after back and forth excuses and calls, finally receive the missing pieces - and they're STILL wrong. Some powdercoated, some gloss black, others with terrible welds and missed cuts - again, a mess. I called him, told him I will go to a local custom shop and get the right parts made for me. He agreed and said I would be compensated/reimbursed for the charges on the parts. The local shop was able to fix the mess and finally got one of the racks on the van after an embarrassing amount of back and forth with Ricky. The other racks still unusable with missing pieces and parts. Finally, with it being April, told Ricky for the other racks to return and refund, which he agreed - then only to ghost me after I set up the shipping to get them back to his shop. Now I have additional racks sitting at my shop that I have had to make custom parts for just to make it work, and a mess of texts and phone calls with Ricky that never amounted to anything. The racks themselves work, but it's not worth your time at the end of the day - go pay the extra costs to get it done right and save yourself the stress of dealing with Baja Voodoo. Paid 2k per rack. Not worth a dime of your time. Read this review and run - Ricky runs a terrible business full of lies, mismanagement, poor production quality, and no timetable. read more

Our Church van had been stolen and the roof rack removed before police found it and was sent to my shop for repairs. once dealing with Ins. co. and approved repairs I went online and saw the rack needed for our E-350 van which Voodo showed pictured, so I contacted them and placed the order on Feb 10-2020 and paid in full and was told it would ship within the week. aprox 2wks later I receive a shipping notice indicating it cannot be delivered to my shop because I am located in a partial residential area so I need to have it shipped to a ind/commercial sight. I had given a address that satisfied them , now about a week later still no rack I call Rick , wheres the rack ? He sent a invoice showing that it was picked up and in route as I stare at the invoice I noticed the address showing Oregon not Hayward ca. upon notification and pointing out the error,He then sent out a corrected copy... another delay came after another and this time Rick had a problem with his shipping co. and fired them for shipping damages on 2 other cust. orders and is locating a replacement.. I will be contacted soon on delivery date.. I received the rack 5 weeks after my order ; open, with excitement and anticipation of installing the rack and finally get paid, once un-packaging and assembling the base we noticed that the powder coating was wrinkled in various places and in some flaking off; no time to halt and repackage we continue assembly to only be stopped in our tracks due to missing parts, also no guide for assembly.. 13) U-bolts and 2) drip-rail fasteners.. Rick was apologetic and would send by US-mail to my shop , the hardware and a can of paint too cover the flaky power coat and after I sand the wrinkled paint smooth.. Rick then sends a conformation to me on tues 3-24 should be delivered by 3-26 Fri. 3-27 I tried calling Rick, forced 2 text about the package, post office said, it was delivered but I needed too contact 3 postal contacts over 1.5 hrs on phone to find out where it was delivered ? Rick had sent the package , not too my shop ! but to my friends shop with no contact person info. I contacted him today Tues. being closed Sun/Monday... He said he received a package that he did not have any idea of who it was meant for but , was glad to find out .. another 9 wasted days = 52 days waiting before my shop would be paid.. powder coating ) lack of prep or No Prep at all who is responsible ? in-house or outsourced ? "POOR QUALITY " In the future my money will not be spent with Voodo..Will they care ? I hope they do ! I really don't expect another roof rack job anyway , it's my first in 43 yrs. with all being said , not any offer was made as compensation for additional work needed for a sellable product or offer a discount for all the delays.... If there were negative stars there wouldn't be enough. Ordered a custom roof top cargo rack and 4 months later the rack was still not finished. Couldn't get anyone at the business to talk to me. Would get random texts that the rack was finished, or it was sent to powder coat, or it would be at my shop within the week. The rack never showed up even after the owner sent me a picture of a rack that looked like what I ordered. Couldn't figure out why they hadn't delivered it if it was finished. They never returned my calls and completely ghosted me after sending me the pic of the finished rack. This rack was for a local mountain bike team that serves children in an economically challenged rural area and I let the owner know that if he couldn't deliver it because of "delivery issues" we would drive to Calexico to get it.
