It's been some time since I've been to a Baja Fish Taco. This location my Main Place Mall made all the dishes simply perfect. Went for lunch after visiting The Discover Cube. Easy to get to. The plate was an enchilada and taco. There was so much food, there was leftovers for dinner. Beans are either black or pinto, placed with white rice. The salsas (red and green), pickled onions, and other condiments were amazingly tasty and not overly spicey hot. I had the fish burrito. It was simply the best by far. Why? The fish is surrounded by all the ingredients EVENLY where you get guacamole, beans, rice, cabbage, and fish in every bite. (The cabbage came thinly sliced via a mandolin slicer and was very crispy/crunchy.) The staff were very friendly saying hello to anyone who entered the front door. The customer service counter was always staffed, ready to take order/s as soon as someone came through the door. Very efficient, it's like the staff "wanted" our business. This should be "The Way" with all businesses. Inside and outside seating were clean. There was no dirty tables as the staff cleaned them within 1-2 minutes of customers departing the premise. We sat inside and it was very clean with only a few exceptions since it was very busy and during lunchtime. I was hungry and saw this restaurant and went inside to check it out. It was similar to a Baja Fresh but better. I ordered a fish burrito with pinto beans, rice, and guacamole and I loved it. The fish was blackened so it gave the burrito a nice savory taste with a little bit of spice. Service was good but the clerk was a little forgetful when we received our order. She had forgotten to give us our sides' sauces we paid for and sour cream. Other than that she did a great job with the order. Nice place with a cool vibe. We ordered the shrimp and Ensenada (fried fish) tacos, along with a side of chips & salsa. Chips were served fresh and warm, salsa was self serve at the salsa bar. We took a number to our table and the food was served shortly after. The Ensenada was okay in flavor, most of which came from the 1 sauce drizzled over but the fish was slightly dry. The shrimp taco was better with more sauces, some cheese & flavor to the taco overall, but after getting to the shrimp itself, it started tasted like plain unseasoned shrimp. After posting my original review, Oscar from Baja Fish Tacos reached out and personally investigated my concern that I had been overcharged. After reviewing the transaction, he explained that a drink was included on the order, which appears to explain the difference between my calculation and the total charged. In hindsight, it is entirely possible that I forgot about ordering the drink. Regardless, Oscar took the time to review the order, respond promptly, and resolve the issue in a very professional manner. The food was great, and the customer service was exceptional. I have lived next to Baja fish for many many years and I didn't really ever come here until maybe this year I started going and I get the chicken bowl or the shrimp bowl and add chicken or chicken and steak and honestly their rice. It's always good. The meat has so much flavor. The blackened chicken is amazing. Honestly, I don't know what I've been thinking about coming here more often and like chipotle and got nothing on fish.! if you want a bowl definitely give this place. A try service is always great. There were lots of customizable portions of the meals like type of tortilla, beans, meat or dressing. For dishes with the fish option you could choose grilled, battered or blackened. It was bustling here around 7:30 pm on a Sunday. The bad: I wish the cilantro lime dressing had more cilantro flavor. It was mostly sour from lime. It's dim and loud inside which is fun but was a bit overstimulating for me coming with two little ones. There was no baby changing table in the bathroom. I usually order the asada bowl or the Baja salad but this burrito was so delicious! It was a hefty meal but doesn't feel too heavy after finishing it. My sister got the unwrapped salad burrito with asada. I never tried but is similar to the Baja salad from look and taste. She enjoyed it and thought it was great meal. The shrimp was big and juicy and had such a nice crunch. It was plated over a bed of slaw and served with a scoop of guacamole. The tacos de papa was so yummy with the crunchy tortilla and served with the same slaw. The chicken tortilla was so homey and would be nice on a cold day. The Ensenada style fish taco and shrimp enchilada was alright. Pretty good but nothing special! However the rice and beans that were served on the plate was so delicious! The salsa bar had a variety of salsas and a delicious spicy picked onions. They have plenty of sauce containers for anyone taking their order to go.
