Once seated though things moved pretty fast. Our waiter Noah T was very attentive, answered our questions and we were off and running. We chose a couple of appetizers; a bowl of Chowder (only because of the raves from fellow Yelpers) and the Athenian Bruschetta. Both were very good but my expectant bubble was burst as it wasn't "the best I have had" as many of the Yelpers had described it. The Athenian Bruschetta though was A-amazing. For Entree I had the stuffed Flounder and Norma had Shrimp and Scallop Scampi. Both were very delicious. Atmosphere was nice, a bit crowded, as you would expect where the food is really good. Tables were tight. Hard to navigate with Norma's wheelchair, but we made it through. Large helpings, took tomorrow's lunch back to the hotel. A definite come back to place.

I've been visiting Carolina Beach for years (since 2013?), and Michael's Seafood has been one of…read morethe restaurants that has seemed to be a constant throughout my years of visits. That said, despite the place seeming to be very popular, I'd never actually visited for a meal - until my most recent visit, that is. I was visiting my grandmother and we finished a nearby game of miniature golf around 4:15pm, so we decided to head over to Michael's for an early dinner (I was going to bed early that night anyway, since I had to drive to Raleigh the next day for my flight out of RDU). She'd been raving about the dressing available at this place (they're known for a champagne vinaigrette, apparently?). I'd been eating light in Carolina Beach (having come from Houston, which made me feel like I was 95% brisket by the time I left), so I was looking forward to the roasted beet salad that she told me was on the menu of this place. We got to the restaurant and were seated right away (perfect timing, honestly, since the place started to fill up not that long after we arrived). I ordered the strawberry lemonade to drink, a cup of the seafood chowder, and the roasted beet salad (minus bleu cheese). It wasn't long before our order arrived at the table. The seafood chowder was decent, though nothing I would particularly order again or think especially notable. The beet salad was the same. I was actually expecting a different texture from the beets... they seemed more mushy than anything, and didn't have that "roasted" flavor I was expecting. The salad dressing that my grandmother had been raving about didn't really hit the mark for me either. It lacked flavor, and almost seemed overly diluted. Ultimately, I'm giving Michael's a 3/5 because our server was attentive and I enjoyed the general vibe of the place. I can understand why it's an easy place to grab a bit on Carolina Beach; that said, would I bother visiting Michael's Seafood again on a follow-up trip to CB? No, there are plenty of other options.
