I had a lot of questions, which she answered very patiently, never once making me feel like I was bugging her. Her answers were detailed, but at the same time she managed to cut through the financial jargon and make things easy to understand. I was impressed ... it takes mastery of a subject that complicated to be able to explain it to a "lay person" in a concise and easy-to-follow fashion. Jennifer was always quick to respond whenever it was time to move on to the next part of the process, like she was with all of my many questions in between. She was also good at keeping me moving through all the forms and paperwork involved (there is quite a bit!), without making me feel rushed. And she is very fast at her work, and impeccably accurate at the same time (a combination that can be hard to find). I was living out of state during the purchase, and there was one day when I was in town and had only half an hour to meet with Jennifer, as a result of my overfilled schedule. We had a lot of things to discuss and forms to fill out, and I was sure we would never manage to get through it all. But we did, with time to spare. And not only that, but when I reviewed everything later, it was bullseye-accurate. I wanted to go with one of the less-common loan programs, and also had an uncommon "add on" program I wanted to use that Jennifer hadn't worked with in the past. She never hesitated in her interest in figuring it all out (which was not the case with some of the other loan officers I talked to), and did so quickly and without any wrinkles in the process. One more thing to add ... as anyone who has shopped around for loans can attest, it's an awkward (albeit necessary) thing to do. You're essentially asking someone to put in a lot of work for you up front, knowing that work might not pay off in any way. For various reasons I talked to quite a few loan officers (half a dozen all told), and Jennifer was the only one who didn't make me feel uncomfortable about having done so. That, along with her obvious expertise in mortgage loans, plus the fact that she is very friendly and easy to work with, were the reasons why I decided to go with Jennifer (and Caliber Home Loans) for my loan.

This spring (2024), Josh "refreshed" my kitchen (a mini-remodel), meticulously refinishing the cabinets (not an easy job when they're still in place) and installing the tile backsplashes himself. He coordinated with the specialists who created and installed the new cabinet doors, countertops, and flooring. During the process, he would double-check with me to see if the work met with my approval. He did all the "finish" work of reinstalling the sink, lights, and electrical plugs, and doing patchwork on the plaster where needed. He was prepared to paint, but that was something I chose to do myself. I am so pleased with the results. Josh was careful to prevent sanding dust from getting into the rest of the house, and tidied up after each day's work. He cheerfully accepted some change order tasks that popped up during the kitchen work, such as repairing my nearly 20 year-old on-demand water heater that started leaking. That job took a few tries, so he returned a couple of times when he had a moment to replace yet another aging O-ring. If his repair work didn't work, he was prepared to replace the water heater with a new unit as soon as he was able. Although a remodel is never cheap, I thought that Josh's price was more than fair, especially in these days of high inflation. I am sure there are other fine contractors in the area, but Josh's combination of excellent work, reliability, and positive attitude place him at the top of my list. I recommend that more people hire him and treat him well, so he stays in the area a good long time.

When I asked for a quote, Mark came out, inspected everything, measured everything, and gave me a quote the next day. Frankly, it was a bit more than I wanted to spend, so I spent time considering options. I had other companies offer quotes without seeing the roof, and that made me worry a bit about possible hidden costs. In the end, I went with Blue Sky, and I couldn't be happier. I haven't seen rain yet, but the roof looks great, and I have absolutely no worries. I have a small house, but the crew (John, Ben, Curtis, Scotty, and Nate) showed up when expected and finished the entire job in just three days. Having our roof on H-Street (near Del Norte/H St) in Eureka entirely redone by Bluesky Roofer. Off…read morecame two layers of shingles and one layer of original wood shake which had been there since 1898! New plywood, vapor barrier and all up to current standards, new vents and flashing. Removed an old ugly exhaust and while the ladders were present, one of those ugly satellite dishes from an era gone by! Mark had a great crew working this challenging project on a high pitch roof. They worked SAFE and swift and got the job done in an orderly fashion. Nice cleanup after.
