Transportation is right next to the hotel, and you can get from the hotel to the Marienplatz in about 40-45 minutes. The price made it well worth the distance. We were in Munich during Oktoberfest, so hotel prices were astronomical, but Hotel Erber was the hotel of sanity because for less than $190 US per night, I was able to get a triple with free daily breakfast included. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and recently renovated. The staff were wonderfully cheerful and kind. And the daily breakfast included a nice variety of choices, from eggs, to cereal, to charcuterie. And bottomless tea and coffee right there, included in the price! This is a big deal because there is nothing worse than waking up after Oktoberfest and having to go out and find some coffee in a language that is not my strength. But since the coffee, tea, and breakfast were all right there in the hotel, I could shamble out of my room and have all the breakfast there waiting for me! There is also a dinner menu for purchase with a wide variety of Bavarian specialities, including a list of local Bavarian beers, too! The restaurant is great for hanging out at night and sampling some local flavors just steps from your room. If I am ever lucky enough to return to Munich, I hope I will be lucky enough to stay at Hotel Erber again. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel!

Marriott was perfect, I arrived hours before my check in and they were able to get me a room. I enjoyed a nap in their soft beds with the ac on... not a normal fixture most Europe hotel rooms. Went downstairs for happy hour enjoyed a beer and a complementary pretzel. Dinner was delicious in their dining area,bruschetta and shrimp and pasta. Breakfast buffet was included in the stay. I stayed in a "superior" studio. The accommodations was roomy and had a small kitchen that I did not take advantage of (save for the utensils and the mini-fridge). Overall, the room was very clean and tidy. The bathroom was fine, with a nicely-sized shower that felt like it was first built in the 90's, but maintained and operated decently (good water temperature and pressure). Although there was no drinking water in the room or floor, you were given a carafe to get water downstairs in the lobby. The hotel is directly connected to Courtyard by Marriott - easy to confuse both places. The reason why the line at the concierge desk was longer was because of all the silly Courtyard guests confusing this hotel with theirs. Anyway, the concierge staff was friendly and efficient. The lobby is small but decently maintained. There's a play room for the kids too. The only issue I had was that the concierge desk closed in the evenings and if you needed assistance, you'd have to go next door to the Courtyard desk. I can see the efficiency in that but the optics... What bumped this up to a 5 was breakfast. I wasn't expecting much, but the breakfast blows away any Residence Inn breakfast in the US. Buffet breakfast included a wide variety of hot breakfast options such as sausage, ham, bacon, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, potato rosti, pancakes, etc. You could also choose from a variety of breads and baked goods, along with fruit, yogurt and cold cuts. The operating hours for breakfast were extensive as well, as I went as early as 6:15 am and as late as 10 am. Breakfast was included for Residence Inn guests, but if you wanted in as a Courtyard guest, you'd have to pay a pretty sizable fee (30 Euros, maybe?). The hotel is walking distance from the Munich East train station (Ostbahnhof) and is situation at the edge of a nice residential area with restaurants, bakeries, shops, and bars. If you don't want to stay in the Altstadt, this area, and this hotel, are good options.

This place had a very warm atmosphere with the lighting and wooden floor. I had the Schweinebraten and it was perfect. Crispy outside and tender inside. The portion size was more than enough. The red cabbage and potato dumpling with the gravy were excellent. Our server was great. Friendly and helpful while we decided on our meals. This is a great place to have a traditional German meal in a great environment.
