Transportation is right next to the hotel, and you can get from the hotel to the Marienplatz in about 40-45 minutes. The price made it well worth the distance. We were in Munich during Oktoberfest, so hotel prices were astronomical, but Hotel Erber was the hotel of sanity because for less than $190 US per night, I was able to get a triple with free daily breakfast included. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and recently renovated. The staff were wonderfully cheerful and kind. And the daily breakfast included a nice variety of choices, from eggs, to cereal, to charcuterie. And bottomless tea and coffee right there, included in the price! This is a big deal because there is nothing worse than waking up after Oktoberfest and having to go out and find some coffee in a language that is not my strength. But since the coffee, tea, and breakfast were all right there in the hotel, I could shamble out of my room and have all the breakfast there waiting for me! There is also a dinner menu for purchase with a wide variety of Bavarian specialities, including a list of local Bavarian beers, too! The restaurant is great for hanging out at night and sampling some local flavors just steps from your room. If I am ever lucky enough to return to Munich, I hope I will be lucky enough to stay at Hotel Erber again. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel!
