My review is only for the actual bagels, as in the baked dough, not the sandwiches. Note that fresh…read moreyou can only by plain, but you can buy poppy, sesame, whole wheat, and a few other flavors frozen for take-out. Northern Europe is known for its smoked fish, and as an American, I find smoked fish (especially salmon) to call for a bagel to put it on. But, these parts of Europe aren't known for their bagels. So, I ventured down to Sodermalm in search of a bagel from one of the few places in Stockholm that makes them, and took it home to put some fish on it. And, it really wasn't bad! Not the best bagel I've had ever, but it had a nice flavor, particularly when toasted. Bit on the squishy side, which is normal in Europe. Certainly meets the need for a bagel.

I grew up in New York, so consider my palate to be a bit more particular than normal when it comes…read moreto bagels. That being said, these are not bagels, but rather bagel-shaped rolls. The bagel is reminiscent of a Thomas' Breads bagel that they sell in supermarkets in the States. They were oddly sweet and lacking texture differences between the outside and inside of the bagel (bagels are supposed to be a bit tough on the outside, and these were just soft and squishy). The inside wasn't bad, but also wasn't great. I got the Stockholm bagel, and the eggs and caviar were nice together, but the eggs weren't super fresh. It was a bit messy to eat, and every time you took a bite, the filling would fall out of the other end. It's probably because the bagel itself wasn't capable of holding contents in. I guess it's decent for a bagel in Stockholm, but people from the States might as well just wait for their next visit home, and handle their bagel-fixes then.

I love brunch. Saturday brunch, Sunday brunch, coffee brunch, mimosa brunch, brunch for breakfast,…read morebrunch for lunch. Brunch in summer, brunch in fall. Cold brunch...but especially warm brunch. Expensive brunch...but especially affordable brunch. Café Vero's brunch is warm and affordable, which makes it one of very few in town. Stockholm has plenty of brunch options, don't get me wrong. But many of the brunch buffets are ridiculously expensive, as is the amazing-but-costly brunch at nearby Mississippi Inn. Sirap near Odenplan has a pretty affordable brunch, but the place itself is crowded and loud and you have to stand in line to get a table. Café Vero is calm and quiet. There are big tables in the back usually full of families with small kids, but there is also a secluded hallway area where you can sit with your significant other at a private little table in an alcove right by the window. The service is excellent, and the staff are helpful, charming, and funny. The brunch options are fabulous. You can choose between multiple plates. I usually opt for Brunch 1, which includes both coffee and juice for a lower price than you could add them on separately. It costs 135 kronor. The plate includes perfectly-done scrambled eggs, toast, a slice of melon, feta cheese, beans, bacon, and two large pancakes. Mmmmmmm. If you want a quiet brunch place where you'll get tasty but affordable food, good service, and can have a conversation at normal volumes, then Café Vero is it!

Amazing brunch for the price. 135 kr gets you a huge plate of panckes, bacon, eggs, fried tomato,…read morebeans toast with cheese etc... and include a coffee or fresh juice! This is by far my favorite brunch place in this part of Stockholm- similar to zirop in vasastan but much easier to get a table. Love love love! Also, their cakes and cookies look amazing and they have lots of magazines= great for fika!!
