Service was better than the food. Usually here for their pastrami sandwiches. Came for breakfast and was pretty disappointed. I ordered an egg and cheese on a bagel, sub Munster cheese for American. The order came out wrong and the waitress said she would have them make a new one. It came out a few minutes later--- the Munster wasn't melted so I took a peek under the bagel and saw that there was residue of the American cheese on the top and bottom pieces of the bagel. Furthermore, if you grew up around the Great Lakes, Finger Lakes, or New England you know that Sable is extremely hard to find outside that region and ultra delicious when properly served. Bagel Snack has it. It comes at a dear price, but I couldn't care less. You can't get it elsewhere. Also quite delicious are Bagel Snack's soups. You can get them there or buy them frozen for takeout. Let me just tell you the lentil soup is outrageous - a little salty, but perfect to my taste. We bought it 6 months ago and it got pushed to the back of our freezer. I just found it and pulled it out for lunch today. It was as wonderful as any soup I've had fresh from there. Went in this awesome spot thinking I'm just gonna get a quick bagel but instead ended up sitting down to one of the best breakfast meals I've had in a long while. They've been in business over 20 years. And there you see three generations sitting at a table and you can tell this is the spot they've been coming to for years. This place was recommended by the staff at the resort we were staying at. You know if the locals like it, it has to be good. Dive diners are the best for good food. We went on a Monday morning, it was a bit busy with the older, local folks. I was tickled that the servers were also older. Gave me the feeling that I was at grandma's for breakfast. On one side is the take out bagel bakery and on the other is the restaurant. It was a bit chaotic and the host was not around so we sat ourselves. It took a bit for the server to greet us. I ordered a basic breakfast; eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast, comes with coffee. I should have ordered something with a bagel. I would have liked some salsa, all they had was Tabasco. "It's All About That Bagel" These are surely the best bagels in South Florida. Bagel Snack is the NY Deli that time forgot with all the positivity and negativity that implies. Bagel Snack sits in a unremarkable strip center in Pompano. There is a seamstress in the same shopping center and I am surprised there is not a typewriter repair shop. All of this is right next to the John Knox Village retirement community and that is a big influence on the clientele, staff and food. There is a familiarity and comfort in Bagel Snack and you know exactly what you are going to get as soon as you walk in the door. You will be greeted by a kind Grandmother type and shown to your table. That is, if it is not the winter. In the winter when the snow birds descend upon Pompano and there will definitely be a wait to get a table. Once seated you can notice the "nothing fancy" decor with a tribute to NYC in the skyline trim just below the ceiling (This skyline trim includes the Twin Towers which shows how wonderfully classic and unchanged this deli is). If you are there before 11 am you will be able to get the breakfast specials. If you are there after 11 am they serve pickles and health salad. It is a win either way but I tend to get there early for the breakfast specials. For less than $5 you can get 2 eggs, a side (home fries (grilled or fried), grits or tomato), a BAGEL, and a beverage. This is as simple and as good as it gets. You will probably not be impressed by the coffee, they do not use farm fresh organic eggs and there is no secret ingredients in the home fries. You can add a meat (bacon, ham or sausage) to make it $6.99 but this is not thick cut maple glazed bacon, it's just bacon. But that bagel, fresh, crispy on the outside, chewy in the middle. Their bagels are fantastic (Not NYC fantastic, but FTL fantastic). Service is friendly, especially when they are not packed. They are also very accommodating with special orders (home fries well done please). As for the rest of the menu, it is your standard deli fare. They have classics that are a little harder to find like kipper & onions or matzoh brie. They also have all sorts of smoked fish and deli meats. These items are good but unlike the bagels they are not made in house and the quality difference is noticeable. Pricing at Bagel Snack is certainly not expensive but it is not the crazy bargain that is the breakfast specials. In addition to the Bagel Snack Restaurant side they also have a deli counter were you can get all these items and their top notch bagels to go. read more

I wanted a tuna melt for lunch, and though I've had Bagel Snack bookmarked forever for the bagels, they are a NY style deli, so I knew they would have tuna. As you walk in there is a store area with a deli, bagels and other baked good, and a few fridges and freezers with grab and go items. Past this area is seating in a more diner type atmosphere. We were seated immediately at 11:30 and it seemed there morning rush was over. I kind of knew what I wanted but looked over the menu a little anyway as the waitress got us waters. I ordered my tuna melt on rye with american (you have the opporutnity to chose the bread and cheese) and my boyfriend ordered the baked salmon platter with a bagel. The food came out very quickly. I was impressed with the presentation of his salmon platter. The veggies were all cut and arranged decoratively around a large piece of fish. I have never ordered baked salmon at a deli because I love smoked, but he liked how much less salty and less processed it tasted. My tuna melt was large and grilled perfectly. The tuna salad was good, though nothing I would rave about. With our meal we also received a bucket full of pickles and coleslaw. The were sour pickles as well as the more briny/garlicky ones, and the coleslaw was made with vinegar rather than mayo. I enjoyed these extras, and knowing that there was coleslaw for the table kept me from being really bad and ordering fries. Our waitress was friendly and I just can't get over how quick the service was. We were in and out from a sit down meal within 30 minutes. Here is comes though, why I am holding back on the forth star. I found the establishment, especially the diner area to have a grimy feel to it. I'm not really a snob about that sort of thing, and I love hole in the wall places, but the ceiling tiles were old and looked like they had been through a few roof leaks, and the booths could use a very good scrubbing, or just an update. At one point I saw a member of the staff bring a chair from the dining area into the bathroom then place it back in the dining area. I have no idea what that would be for, but I don't want the chair I'm eating on to have been in the bathroom. These cleanliness issues will probably keep me from rushing back. I did think the main store/deli area in the front seemed a little better kept, and I do still need to try their bagels (they are made in house). I'm all for a greasy spoon diner, but the chair in the bathroom thing just put a bad taste in my mouth. read more

"A New York deli in South Florida" is their tag line. And having eaten in many NY delis, I would say it is pretty accurate... except for the service being much friendlier here. The customers certainly supported the NY "feel". And the food was good breakfast fare. Ham and eggs with rye toast and coffee. How this place has been there for 25 years I have no idea the only way I believe it is clearly the menu and decor has not been updated since they opened. I ordered a simple breakfast two eggs over easy bacon home fries with onion and toasted bagel . Sadly nothing was worth it , the over easy eggs one was over easy other was over well no idea how that is even possible. The bacon small and undercooked but the grossest part of the meal the home fries . The amount of brown grease on the plate from them covered not only the eggs the waitress took a napkin and tried to wipe up the grease . The onions I would think were onions free French onion soup that's how wet and undercooked they were and had a beef flavor. I have never been insulted more in my life than by the owner of "Bagel Snack" Jonathan Simes. I ordered breakfast for my office team mates Monday and the food was cold, potatoes tasted as if they were re-heated from a past day and I was over charged by $3.00 dollars! The total bill was $31.71. I went into the restaurant today to ask how I would be credited back for being over charged and the poor food. The owner said "How do I know if you didn't just pick that ticket off the ground and now want free food?" 1st I wasn't asking for free food just to get a refund for the cold food and being over charged! 2nd I didn't want anything but a full refund at this point. I urge all people who read this buyer beware on this establishment! Check your receipt because they have a pattern of over charging people. Anywhere is better then eating here. read more

Staying at the Wyndham Palm Aire Resort we stumbled on this place the first morning thanks to Yelp and was not disappointed in the least! We returned for the next 3 days and loved everything! This (along with the water) is the one big thing I miss about FL, great Jewish delis, which this certainly is! The first morning we got bagel sandwiches to go, fair-warning, they're a tad messy for the car, but delicious! Egg white omelets are my "go to breakfast" and they were perfect and huge! Happened by here for lunch after a co-worker won a free lunch for 2 at a work function. He's been holding onto it for a rainy day (aka a day he forgets to bring lunch) and today was that day. Considering the location and the fact that I'm raised by Jewish New Yorkers I had low expectations for this place but what I had was absolutely delightful. First off understand that this is a typical New York/Jewish style deli, which means that if you're under the age of 60 you're going to feel out of place by the rest of the clientele. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just be prepared to have to hold the door open for people who can't quite do it themselves (unless you're an asshole) and wait behind them as they shuffle along. Staff is very friendly and has a very family feel to it. After sitting down and showing them the coupon which we expected would be a hassle it was all established very quickly. Instead of a free plate of bread like you'd get at most restaurants we were brought deli style pickles, both of the sour and garlic variety atop a bed of some sort of slaw. Very surprisingly pleasant. We both ordered the chicken salad club on toasted white bread. Served "big mac" with a slice of bread in the middle and with french fries. The fries were absolutely fantastic. Came out nice, hot, and crispy which is a surprise considering this is a deli that mostly seems to serve cold dishes. It being a chicken salad club means it had bacon on it which is always a plus which was super flavorful and crispy. I've been craving a chicken salad sandwich for a long time however I hate when it's mixed with fruits or nuts which most places do, so eating just a pure, fresh chicken salad that was super flavorful scratched an itch I've had for a long time. All in all it was really well executed, we received it fast, and it was very filling. Under different circumstances I would've tried something from the bakery like a bagel or some potato pancakes but I left stuffed. I will absolutely consider coming back here again and as I was leaving I heard the lady behind the counter telling a customer that they deliver, which should be good news for all of the people that work near by who might be tempted to try this place as well. read more

NOT JUST Bagels, the kind of fresh bagels I used to line up for at 6:00am in East Hampton New York every Saturday for, bagels better than the bagels you got at H&H on 14th Street in New York City. And Lox that are superb! Heavenly! If your on a budget they sell great homemade smoked salmon cream cheese by the pound. Not salmon flavored cream cheese, cream cheese with chunks of smoked salmon. The diner is very good and a great value with quick courteous service. I'm not selling it short. You can order a toasted bagel with cream cheese with your meal. I actually went here off of a recommendation from Yelp and boy, am I glad I did! (Be warned; the address reflected on the location of this business isn't where it's reflected. It's actually in the south part of Pompano Beach- off Powerline north of McNab Road.) The place is reminiscent of a NY Jewish Deli. Options are to eat in or get it to go. Since I was on the way to work, I ordered the Nova Cream Cheese on a Plain Bagel to go. Everything was delectable. They also sell Kennesaw juices! Though a bit pricey it's difficult to find a place that sells this juice. The only thing I would change is the fact that I only ordered one bagel. OMG, they actually bring you out the health salad, & kosher pickles in stainless steel pickle caddy. Haven't seen this at any deli in S. Fla. since Pumpernicks & Wolfie Cohens Rascal House. What is the deal with that??? You'd think this would be standard @ any Jewish Deli down here, oh, like it is a BIG expense? Anyways, had the hot brisket sandwich, was very good. The tuna salad is THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD ANYWHERE, it is PERFECTION. We have been going to beagle snack for over 25 years ( at least twice a month) my husband and I have Covid-19 and decided to order some good deli food to help with recovery. We ordered from Yelp and received the order in a timely manner well packed and pretty delish. However they forgot the side of fries. We called just to let them know and the sweet lady who works the front tried as best she could to help and offered to send a fresh order as soon as the driver came back. I went there on a late Sunday morning -- the first thing I noticed when I walked in was an older woman eating some chicken soup out of a coffee mug at the cash register -- this hostess was none other than the owner of the place! She greeted me warmly and showed me the bagels behind the cases. I ordered a turkey sandwich on pumpernickel. It was good, but too much turkey. They put enough turkey on it for 2 or 3 people. If you get this sandwich, order a couple extra bagels and make 2 or 3 sandwiches. I didn't stay for lunch but the dining room looked like it was packed.
