Bagel Bagel is a great, er, bagel cafe!…read more They do Bagels of all sorts with every filling you can come up with! Being a creature of habit, aren't we all?, I always opt for a plain bagel with cream cheese and smoked bacon....mmmmm... ....mmmmm. They really know hoe to get it right here! Plus, at the bargain price of only £2.80, its a pretty impressive and filling lunch! The cafe is proper tiny, so my fave option is to go around the corner and sit admiring the view of St Anne's Cathedral! Weather permitting of course! Don't miss out on this lovely place! And if you're not a big bagel fan (no judgement) they do offer wraps and other light bites too!

Bagels are kind of new for me, I would never of had them growing up. I feel like they are maybe an american craze as they are just savory donuts. I wonder if they would ever make bagels with chocolate sprinkles or with jam in the middle...I'm not sure if I like where this is going!!! The customer service in this shop could be better but the food is almost too good to worry about any other negativities. I have been to a couple of parties too where they were catering. Let me say I was Bagel bagel, Yes please!!! don't mind if I do, also you would mind if I had a bite of yours too???

It's a pain to have to give a crappy review to a place that's always been a favourite. Arthur's has…read morealways delivered a decent lunch at a good price. After years of going in that has changed for the first time. As with everything these days the prices have crept up, especially in terms of the lunch specials. OK, that's to be expected these days. But there a 'meal deal' in there now for £12 or so! Not long ago that was a basic restaurant price, the specials are now around the £5 mark and gone is the awesome £3. I could live with that, but I got the club sandwich. It was tiny and bland.... With a club you expect the double layers... not in this case... just the 2 rounds of bread, and they were very poorly filled at that. I'll definitely be back... I won't give up on a stalwart like this after 1 bad experience... but with the hike in prices there needs to be an understanding there be a hike... and certainly not a drop, in delivery!

As eluded to Arthur's is in a really handy location beside Montgomery Street Car park and only a short dander from Victoria Square.s iWith loads of neighboring offices I suspect Arthur's is rammed in the morning and at lunch time but luckily for me I visited around 2:30pm and there were only a few other customers. As soon as I walked in I was asked 'what I would like?' and to be honest I hadn't even worked that out in my head yet so I just blurted out Americanno! I like the prompt sty;e of the staff in here - no messing about - gimmie your order! The coffee was great - very strong which is just what I needed before a meeting. I even got myself a wee pecan slice as there was a lonely one left in a basket just staring at me at the counter. So I had to, you know yourself! Anyway, it's a big old thumbs up from me for Arthur's and who knows it might even get that extra star when I sit in!

We hopped on Yelp and saw that French Village was just down the street, so we just walked on over. For a Saturday morning it was quite busy, but we were lucky to get a table for 4 people right away. They have a pretty standard breakfast menu with your typical french toast, pancakes, bagel, hash, scrambled eggs, etc. Between the four of us, we pretty much ordered the whole menu, which was great because that means I got to try a bit of everything. For myself I ordered the bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. It was good, but I don't think it was exactly what I was feeling that morning. I really enjoyed bites of their raspberry & white chocolate pancakes and frech toast though. I'd definitely recommend that if you've got a sweet tooth. On top of that, we got an assortment of different coffees and smoothies at our table. I went for a soy milk latte for myself and a strawberry banana smoothie. Both hit the spot perfectly. Service was a little spotty. Our waters were never really refilled (and on a hungover morning, endless water is a necessity), and our server looked a bit angry to be there. The manager came around to see how everything was doing though, which was great! They have a bakery on the other side of the restaurant (where you go to pay), and have an assortment of macarons, muffins, and other baked goods. Before we left, we got a small box of macarons to share and they were lovely! I can't remember all the flavours we got, but everything I tried was delicious. If you're in the University area, definitely a good spot to check out for a nice breakfast.

I ordered a roast vegetable sandwich on brown bread to take away and eat al desco. It was delicious, healthy and substantial. Alfred Street doesn't have the throngs of people streaming up and down it that many other establishments would have sought for their higher footfall. The food is great, tasty, good produce for ingredients and well sized portions. The staff are quick and efficient but above all noticeably more friendly and welcoming than most sandwich shops. The coffee is good too, a pleasant surprise for a place that is a sandwich shop that serves coffee as opposed to a coffee place that has food (like Clements). Nice shop, the only drawback is that as I mentioned it's a bit out of the way so its not handy to a cash machine and they don't take cards, so you need to make sure you have cash on you before poppin' in.
