Since we live nearby, we often visit this shop on special days or when we're feeling especially tired. Today, having a bagel seemed like the perfect choice. Pros: Their own parking lot Outdoor seating Games I ordered a Thai iced coffee and an egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel. I was bummed to see the coffee premade, but I understand that it's faster to serve that way. There were about 10 bagel choices which you could get with various spreads or in sandwich form. I do wish my sandwich was served a bit warmer (the cheese wasn't melted), but it tasted good. I also got a cinnamon sugar donut for one of my children and was upset to see some of it was raw inside. However, they get their donuts from Bennisons, so it's not their fault. My husband ordered the loxacado sandwich, which he enjoyed. read more

Easy to get bagels and breakfast around here. It's harder to find good versions of these. Bagel Art is one of the better morning places in Evanston. Gets busy, so be okay with waiting in a long ass line and then wait even more after to get food. The food may or may not be worth all the waiting. Came at breakfast. It's the most popular time, but it's also open at lunch. They're also busiest on weekdays. A lot of the students and faculty are around. It's about $3 for a coffee. The coffee came out fast. It was basic. The bagel menu includes lots of toppings. It's about $9 for a sandwich, kind of a lot. The Green Mountain is the one for vegetarians. Get the choice of cream cheese or hummus. Toppings include avocado, cucumbers, lettuce, red onions, spinach, and tomatoes. Good sandwich but it costs too much. The sandwiches are all pretty expensive it seems. Good place for a basic breakfast. It's not gourmet even though prices are like it. There's some pretty good options for vegetarians. read more

I got the Green Monster veggie sandwich bagel- giant and piled high with vegetables! Yum! Any sandwich can be done on a bagel, bread or toast. They don't have a full coffee menu, but there's options... whether you're here in the morning for a breakfast bagel and caffeine and also iced teas if you're here in the afternoon for a sandwich. This place was fairly busy around 2pm- the woman in front of us ordered dozen bagels and the couple after us ordered lunch to go. I love seeing the busy-ness on off hours! The bagel was delightful, plentiful bacon, the egg was cooked well and they toasted the bagel perfectly. The vanilla latte was just alright. Smooth coffee flavor but that's about it. Staff was wearing gloves and masks and the tables were removed. The overall place was clean along with the Bathrooms. Felt safe to come in and order our food. read more

I really love this bagel shop! The bagels are nice, fresh with the perfect chew. The cream cheese is lovely and flavorful. I like the menu is simple but that they do it well. When I can't get to NY, I just come here to get my fix and I'm not ever disappointed! Also, it's very clean! You will staff all wearing gloves and masks when preparing your food. I have been going to bagel art since I was in 7th grade so you could say I'm biased but I absolutely love this place! This hidden gem really knows how to make a good bagel sandwich. I think they get their bagels from bagel and bialy, which is very good, and they use fresh ingredients in there sandwiches. My favorites are the early bird and veggie express but they could give me anything and I'd eat it. It's also very quick and the staff is super nice (and probably sees me too much). The vibe is also really cute and in a really neat part of evanston. My only requests is that they bring back free bagel Friday and the little pickles, the new pickles just aren't the same. I decided to try them out after seeing a free bagel & cream cheese offer that they do occasionally. They have a few different ones, as well as a few different flavors of cream cheese. I had the everything bagel with cream cheese with chives. It didn't blow me away, but it was decent; and I can see them giving Einstein Brothers a run for their money since they're the only other bagel shop in Evanston. I did notice that a dozen bagels costs $9, which is a great value. They have a selection of sandwiches, a couple of salads, and they also serve coffee. They're located on a corner of Dempster Ave and seem to get good foot traffic due to the area. They have a nice room in the back as well as outdoor seating. Cute, artsy place and I would try it again. read more

Intelligentsia coffee is well-complimented by a wide variety of bagel-based sandwiches, lots of different toppings, and decent prices especially considering what you get for your money. They have lunch offerings that I haven't had a chance to try but will go out on a limb to say that they'll be very good as well. Ingredients are always fresh and prep time is quick. They're being very careful about covid, so there's no indoor seating as of 8/10/2021. I moved back to Evanston in March, and have come in a couple times only because you haven't started up dine in yet. I'm glad outdoor eating is back. That helps. But please know I would have come in many more times if you got the dine-in thing going again. I know the ownership is shifting but PLEASE stop dragging your heels and open the seating back up again. I was craving a bagel sandwich and some orange juice and decided to stop by Bagel Art. For a cafe, it's not particularly homey. Just a bunch of tables and chairs thrown together so if you're looking for a place to read a book/study, there may be better places in Evanston. The sandwiches were okay. Personally, I thought the bagels were on the smaller end. Although great to satiate a craving, I will probably look elsewhere next time. read more

Hey--guess who now has BREAKFAST BAGEL SANDWICHES?? This discovery really put some spank in my fanny. They usually have two at a time listed on a whiteboard. I've had two so far--the Hangover Cure (salami, cheese, and hot sauce) and the Grace (ham, cheese, and choice of two vegetables)--but these things are so customizable that it's practically build-your-own. I'm not sure what is the deal with the eggs. They are baked in a big flat pan and then cut into squares. It's a questionable method (and I'm not sure what else might be in the "batter" besides eggs) because what ends up in your sandwich is somewhat dry and a little rubbery. I'd rather have real eggs cooked to order but beggars can't be choosers. Some mornings I get such a powerful craving for a BREAKFAST BAGEL SANDWICH that I will take whatever I can get, and I would rather support an independent local business than one of those godless chains. Word of warning--don't choose drippy tomatoes for your bagel sandwich if you are planning to eat it while driving up Ridge Avenue and Green Bay Road. read more

Vince and team are just good people. They care about their customers and have solid food on top of that. I have had their lox platters a few times now and they're really well done and great for any parties. Their bagels are true NYC style to where they have a bit of chew to them, which is hard to find in the area. They are the epitome of a small family owned business, which is why I love supporting this place. I don't eat any pork or ham but when I was ordering my bagel with mostly with veggies and cream cheese I saw that the oil from pork from the order before me was on the cutting table and the other bagels were cut with the same knife and on the same cutting board. I stopped in this morning in between meetings with the intent of grabbing coffee to go and ended up staying briefly for a bagel sandwich special: egg sandwich on a sesame bagel for $3.20 (less $ than a bagel and a schmear). My sandwich was okay. I didn't really care for the spongy consistency of the egg, but overall the combination with melted provolone cheese, veges and a tad of spicy mustard hit the spot. The egg appeared to be seasoned giving it a nice flavor and the bagel was fresh and hearty. They serve brewed Intelligentsia coffee, and one of the standouts for fixing up your coffee was a container of cinnamon sticks along with the sugar. That's something I've never seen before. Very nice addition. This place is an organic/hipster joint, so the customer service is more along the "cool" side if you know what I mean. It was a bit cold (the temperature) and not warm and inviting feeling like I had hoped, but the concept is super adorable with a quiet room in the back with books and a cafe table with comfy lounge chairs. It seems that under the new owner the only art left is that of skimping on the ingredients and gouging the patron. I guess if you are on a mostly carb not much else diet this place would work for you. However, if you expect more than 2 ounces of turkey in a wrap, well better to avoid these artists on most days you feel peckish. I say most days because on the weekends the crew is more as it was under the old regime. So out of the 7 days 2 are good and the rest are bunk so 2 stars seemed fair. These 2 days for $8 a sandwich you got a fair deal. It also seems the freshness matters depending when in the week you go. On the weekends fresh. This day, I watched as the sandwich-monger went out of his way to skim the browned guac onto my leathery tortilla. He was quite generous with the 2 slices of tomato and the 3 leaves of lettuce, the good chap. The short of this tale is that I don't think I'll be returning here for and overpriced display of miserliness for a workday lunch. read more
