Great bagel cafe in evanston! Loved my coffee and my bagel. Plenty of options for bagels and different sandwiches or toppings, with good indoor and outdoor seating.

Easy to get bagels and breakfast around here. It's harder to find good versions of these. Bagel Art is one of the better morning places in Evanston. Gets busy, so be okay with waiting in a long ass line and then wait even more after to get food. The food may or may not be worth all the waiting. Came at breakfast. It's the most popular time, but it's also open at lunch. They're also busiest on weekdays. A lot of the students and faculty are around. It's about $3 for a coffee. The coffee came out fast. It was basic. The bagel menu includes lots of toppings. It's about $9 for a sandwich, kind of a lot. The Green Mountain is the one for vegetarians. Get the choice of cream cheese or hummus. Toppings include avocado, cucumbers, lettuce, red onions, spinach, and tomatoes. Good sandwich but it costs too much. The sandwiches are all pretty expensive it seems. Good place for a basic breakfast. It's not gourmet even though prices are like it. There's some pretty good options for vegetarians.

I'm of the mindset that all bagels are great... and some bagels are another level of great. Bagel Art bagels are great;) You can't go wrong with bagels! I got the Green Monster veggie sandwich bagel- giant and piled high with vegetables! Yum! Any sandwich can be done on a bagel, bread or toast. They don't have a full coffee menu, but there's options... whether you're here in the morning for a breakfast bagel and caffeine and also iced teas if you're here in the afternoon for a sandwich. This place was fairly busy around 2pm- the woman in front of us ordered dozen bagels and the couple after us ordered lunch to go. I love seeing the busy-ness on off hours! Keep it up Bagel Art!

I had a great experience at Bagel Art. The service is quick and they have a wide selection of bagels. I just ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese and it was really yummy. A little bit too much cream cheese for my liking but I just scraped it off. Definitely some of the best bagels in Evanston.

Stopped for a quick breakfast on the way downtown. Got a bacon egg and cheese bacon on an everything bagel and a vanilla latte. The bagel was delightful, plentiful bacon, the egg was cooked well and they toasted the bagel perfectly. The vanilla latte was just alright. Smooth coffee flavor but that's about it. Staff was wearing gloves and masks and the tables were removed. The overall place was clean along with the Bathrooms. Felt safe to come in and order our food.

I have been going to bagel art since I was in 7th grade so you could say I'm biased but I absolutely love this place! This hidden gem really knows how to make a good bagel sandwich. I think they get their bagels from bagel and bialy, which is very good, and they use fresh ingredients in there sandwiches. My favorites are the early bird and veggie express but they could give me anything and I'd eat it. It's also very quick and the staff is super nice (and probably sees me too much). The vibe is also really cute and in a really neat part of evanston. My only requests is that they bring back free bagel Friday and the little pickles, the new pickles just aren't the same. Anyways, I'm bagel arts biggest fan and highly recommend!

Loved it here! Nice and quick but very delicious. I had the bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel and a mocha coffee. Very enjoyable!

I decided to try them out after seeing a free bagel & cream cheese offer that they do occasionally. They have a few different ones, as well as a few different flavors of cream cheese. I had the everything bagel with cream cheese with chives. It didn't blow me away, but it was decent; and I can see them giving Einstein Brothers a run for their money since they're the only other bagel shop in Evanston. I did notice that a dozen bagels costs $9, which is a great value. They have a selection of sandwiches, a couple of salads, and they also serve coffee. They're located on a corner of Dempster Ave and seem to get good foot traffic due to the area. They have a nice room in the back as well as outdoor seating. Cute, artsy place and I would try it again.

    Egg, cheddar, and avocado. $6.40.

Best bagel and lox in Chicagoland? Best I've had, at least. Pleasant place to relax and read after you've pounded your breakfast.

NY bagels.....Not. Edible........yes. Precooked eggs microwaved. They don't know how to toast a bagel. Go for the Egg McMuffin instead.

Ask the Community - Bagel Art

Hey, yelpers, on sundays there used to be live music but they haven't had it for the last few weeks. Does anyone know if they are still doing it?

I was wondering the same thing. I go in there all the time on Sunday mornings and I haven't seen them the last few weeks.

In a world where most spots are jacking up prices while lowering quality, this place is sticking to the New York gold standard. The line is a total marathon. You're going to wait, and it's going to be a while--but that's the tax you pay for food that actually has a soul. Don't let the deli line distract you. It's white noise. Stay focused on the bagels, the bialys, and the accoutrements. The breakfast sandwich is, hands down, the best in town. Period. It's simple, inexpensive, and lacks any of that "cheap filler" logic you see at other breakfast joints. It's just a masterclass in doing the basics with real care. If you have the patience to survive the wait, you won't find a better return on your investment.

I haven't been to the location but have had these bagels consistently for over 10 years. The texture and flavor of the bagel is everything a NY bagel is and should be. Fluffy on the inside, somewhat crispy on the outside, and oh so thiccccccccck! Their cream cheese?! Ugh! Don't skip on it, seriously everything about this place is perfect. My go to selection is the egg bagel with chive cream cheese. It's chef's kiss and hits the spot. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME!!!!

If you're expecting this to be interchangeable with the franchised bagel places that have spread…read moreacross the country, recalibrate now. This is not that. I've been going to New York Bagel & Bialy for over 50 years, and places like this operate on a different clock, a different standard, and frankly, a different philosophy of what a bagel is supposed to be. Timing matters. If you show up after about 8:00 AM, your odds of getting bagels at their absolute peak--still warm, properly textured, with that slight resistance on the outside and softness inside--go up significantly. Earlier can be hit or miss depending on the batch cycle, but once they're in stride, this place delivers. The essentials are all here and worth your time: poppy seed, sesame, everything, and especially the bialys. The bialys alone are reason enough to make the trip--properly done, with the right chew and depth of flavor that you simply won't find in mass-produced versions. Don't overcomplicate it. Grab a dozen. On your way home, stop and pick up a couple packages of Philadelphia Cream Cheese and some smoked salmon a jar of capers, a Bermuda onion--whether here or even from Walmart--and you've got a meal that outperforms most brunch menus at a fraction of the cost. This isn't trendy. It's not trying to be. It's something better: consistent, old-world, and still doing it the right way. If you're going to call something a bagel, the standard is not branding--it's process. That's why New York Bagel & Bialy on Touhy stands apart. They actually do it right: kettle-boiled first, then baked in rotating ovens. That single decision--boiling--changes the entire structure. It gelatinizes the outer starch layer, locks in density, and produces that thin, glossy crust with real chew. Without it, you don't have a bagel--you have bread with a hole. The rotating ovens matter too. They deliver even heat, which means you get the correct balance: a slight exterior crisp with a dense, elastic interior. No puffiness. No sponge. No collapse under toppings. That's the difference here. Most chains optimize for speed and shelf life, so they steam or shortcut the process. Many local shops land in the middle. This place doesn't compromise. If you care about what a bagel is supposed to be--not just what it's called--this is the benchmark in Chicago.
