We stopped by here for a cocktail and snack before our dinner reservation elsewhere. What a great new discovery! They graciously gave us an outdoor seat, and our server Tracey then greeted us. The outdoor seating is perfect, with a shade overhead and a gentle breeze blowing through. The cute notebooks on the table have the cocktail and food menu, but there's also blank pages to draft a note or message. My husband enjoyed a gin & tonic while I ordered the Jester, which had a balanced citrus flavor and was very tasty. We ordered the Flora grazing board, and enjoyed 3 different cheeses with grilled focaccia, crackers, almonds, and accoutrements. This was a perfect nibble for us, as we sat together and enjoyed their wonderful 80s music (New Order, Soft Cell, Pet Shop Boys, Bronsli Beat, etc). We love this new restaurant and look forward to returning to enjoy even more. read more

I came to Baedega with high expectations. The reviews are practically love letters, so I arrived with an open mind, ready to spend money and be impressed. And let me be clear: I have absolutely no problem spending money on a great meal. I'll happily spend $100, $200, or more when the food and experience justify it. Unfortunately, Baedega left me with an empty wallet, an empty stomach, and one burning question: What the hell am I missing? First, the atmosphere. It was a hot, humid afternoon with intermittent rain, and employees were scrambling to keep rainwater from dripping onto patio diners. I wisely reserved inside, only to discover that inside felt like someone had set the thermostat to "Provincetown August" and thrown away the key. The AC was running, employees kept adjusting it, and I spent 90 minutes sweating. The décor is apparently described as "grandma chic." I would describe it as a drag queen inherited Grandma's house, kept the leftover decor from the estate sale, was approved for an Amazon Prime Card, and had 48 hours to decorate. I like eclectic décor, but this felt less "curated" and more "the estate sale starts at 9 and everything must go." It's also so cramped that squeezing between tables felt like human Tetris. Then came the menu. Cute little books you can doodle in--adorable. But perhaps there's a reason restaurants leave the doodling to children's menus and use adult menus to focus on food and prices. Because the prices are a joke. The grazing plate was $43: four crackers, a tiny cup of nuts, a little cheese, five pickle slices and two tiny strips of bread. Four crackers. Not four varieties. Four. They were so stale and soft they tasted like they'd been collecting Provincetown humidity for weeks. I actually waited for the rest. There was no rest. And here's what really got me: there wasn't a single thing on that board that felt chef-created. Every component was essentially from a jar, a box, or unwrapped and placed on the board. Even the pickles were nothing more than 5 standard pickle chips pulled from a jar on aisle 4 at Trader Joe's. Nothing wrong with those products if priced accordingly, but at $43, this isn't premium dining. It's expensive arranging. I've happily paid far more for appetizers at excellent restaurants when the food justified it. Then came the olive tapenade. Credit where it's due: it was fantastic. But it was $37 for a portion so small it felt like a demonstration rather than an appetizer. At that point, "small plates" started sounding less like a culinary concept and more like a greed strategy: make the portion smaller, charge more, put it on a cute board, and call it an experience. Please. I don't mind expensive. I mind expensive and hungry. I've eaten at some of the best tapas restaurants in the world and happily paid serious money. When the food is exceptional, it's worth every penny. But there's a difference between premium pricing and pricing that simply feels greedy. At Baedega, I couldn't escape the feeling that the hype was being used to see just how much customers would tolerate. What's left after the hype goes away? And here's the kicker: after paying my bill, I went to Stop & Shop because I was still hungry. Nothing says successful dinner quite like grocery shopping afterward. That's why I'm so baffled by the hype. Nothing was horrible, and the tapenade was genuinely excellent, but at these prices, "not horrible" isn's the goal. I expected to be dazzled. Instead, I got four crackers, a tapenade tease, a sauna, and a grocery run. Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe Bædega is the culinary equivalent of a beautiful Provincetown drag queen: fabulous presentation, tremendous confidence, and when you finally get backstage you're wondering where the rest of the outfit went. I genuinely wanted to love this place. I just couldn't. Two stars: one for the tapenade and one for the menu doodles. Come for the hype, stay for the four stale crackers, and leave for Stop & Shop. read more

Really fun place. Husband's steamed clams were absolutely superb. Exquisite raw oysters had little crunchy cubes of pickled rhubarb on top. Other menu items are unusual, a little edgy, interesting. Server Em was friendly, attentive, fun. Our only quibble was the laughing screaming conversation other staff were having with the maitre'd. Mostly fine but sometimes made it hard to hear each other; kinda cut the atmosphere. But this is well worth a visit. read more

We stopped into the new Ptown location for dinner last night and were not disappointed. We were seated outdoors and our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. For drinks we got the Snake Charmer and the Encore- both were delicious. The encore (their espresso martini) had hints of peanut butter- so good! Food is served tapas style, and while a little pricy we felt the portions were well sized to share. We ordered the little gem Caesar, the chicken schnitzel and the Vongole Al Catino. Everything was well cooked and tasty. I loved combining the schnitzel with the little gem for a chicken Caesar salad style bite. Definitely will be back! read more

My wife and I had a really great dinner at Baedega- a new cozy restaurant, tucked away just off Commercial street. The cocktail and mocktail menus were great- and all the food came out fresh and tasty. We had a great asparagus salad, with sliced radish and peas, plus steamed clams and a hanger steak. Everything was yummy and the service was friendly and efficient. We also liked the lively and creative touches to the decor and menu. So many places in P-town are over-priced and mid-quality-- this is an exception! Highly recommend!! read more

What an odd little place! What's meant to be a circus theme looks more like a teenage girl's take on a fortune teller's parlor. The campy menu is published in a tiny leather covered book where one will find cocktails, wines and a small selection of food. The tapas sized portions were 'good' but we did not find any of the 6 items we ordered to be outstanding. The grazing board was okay as were the steamed clams. Our server was very nice but the bus person trolled our table every two seconds looking for something she could clear (this was very odd and intrusive). In all, it was fine but certainly not somewhere I would recommend or visit again, sorry to say. read more

My husband and I dined here a few days ago and really enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. The decor is really cool and the staff works hard to make it a great experience. I had the chicken schnitzel and my husband had the hanger steak, both were fantastic! We also had the asparagus salad for an app and it was delicious! Baedega is an absolute gem in the heart of our little town of Truro. The owners are fabulous! They take much pride in what they have created and are are so welcoming. The enchanted, cozy atmosphere is one of a hidden haven, where every detail, from the decor to the lighting, works together to create a charming, eclectic and magically captivating experience. The drinks are imaginative and range from the simple to the complex. The food is to die for! Soooo yummy. When we are there we never want to leave. read more

From the moment we parked, I was impressed by the cozy exterior with subtle lighting and understated holiday elegance at the Baedega's exterior. Upon entering we were greeted warmly by Tracey who graciously took our heavy winter coats and introduced us to our bartender Kate. We were seated at the bar which is usually not my favorite seat, and in just a few moments I felt at home. Drinks came promptly and we were treated to the friendly banter among the staff and other guests. The entire restaurant has an air of a speak easy, with optional comfy seats and a large table for seating options. For the menu - what a great little hearts romaine salad that was followed by the grilled burrata and steak tips. Each dish surpassed the other and such generous portions! I can't say enough about how warm and friendly the entire team were and how the menu surpassed all expectations. And what we ordered was just perfect. We wish Christina and Tracey the best of luck, they are certainly on the right track and as part time Truro residents we have found a new go to space that has been underutilized for years in that corner of Truro Center. Our friends were correct in the raves they gave Baedega, and we at last have found our new go to. We can't wait to return.Do make a reservation. read more
