Can you tell you how HAPPY I am to not wipe up mouse $h!t on a weekly basis anymore???…read more I'm a huge animal lover married to a vegetarian, so when hubs and I discovered mice in the house, we tried to deal with the problem the way us Madison tree-huggers do: by using live traps and some "alternative methods" we found online. Maybe they're called alternative methods because they're the alternative to effective methods? Hmmmm....maybe cedar shavings and peppermint-oil-soaked cotton balls aren't solid pest control? After literally YEARS with no luck whatsoever, hubs & I finally caved and got professional help. I wish I would've made this call about 4 years ago! I chose this company because it's a local family business, not a huge corporate chain. I also liked that they have a female technician. It means A LOT to me because I work in a male-dominated, very dirty job, and society needs to see more women in these roles. When I called Kwik Kill they were very polite offered to come out the very next day. Bonus points right there. They gave me a very accurate estimate over the phone (another bonus) and arrived in a normal looking hatchback vehicle (BIG bonus). I mention the car because I was a little worried that they'd pull up in a huge flashy van with either a big, bold logo on all the sides, or big mouse ears or 3-D bugs glued to the roof which would inform the entire neighborhood that we have a serious mouse problem. ;D Big sigh of relief there! Our dogs are notorious for catching rodents, plus we have a lot of hawks and owls in our neighborhood. Naturally I was very concerned when I learned that poison was going to be used. Kwik Kill explained that the dogs or other predators would have to eat a significant number of poisoned mice to cause any harm to them, which put me at ease. They explained how it works using SCIENCE & FACTS, not "Eh, don't worry about it." (More bonus points!) They also didn't use snap traps or glue traps, which are particularly cruel and inhumane. Our technician placed the bait boxes in areas where our dogs had zero chance of getting at them. (More bonus points.) Then the tech filled in all the holes around the foundation where a mouse could squeeze into the house. He gave us some info like what NOT to put in our bird feeders. Like I said, we love wild animals...when they're outside. A few days after setting up the bait boxes, we didn't see ANY sign of mice whatsoever. Not only do I not have to wipe up mouse $h!t on a weekly basis, but I also don't have to hide the butter in the toaster oven anymore! I feel THAT confident leaving it on the counter! The worst part of the experience was dealing with the smell that followed. I blame myself and hubs for waiting too long to get professional help. Like I said, we should've called Kwik Kill years ago. Before we called we were catching between 1-4 mice at a time in our live trap, so that's on US for allowing things to get out of hand. Thankfully the smell was kept in the basement, where we only go to do laundry. Hubs & I went through everything looking for the nest/bodies. We only found 2 dried-out dead mice. Just to be on the safe side, we threw them in the trash so that neighborhood hawks wouldn't eat them. Even after all that, the smell was still present a couple days later, even with the air purifier running. Then, like music to my ears, Kwik Kill called to schedule a follow up. I'd completely forgotten that they were going to do that! When Breanna came out to check the traps, I mentioned that we couldn't find any more mice but that the smell was so strong that the air purifier couldn't get rid of it 100%. She explained that the dead mice might be inside or behind our insulation and that's why we couldn't find more. She also said we shouldn't be tearing through fiberglass anyway. I completely agreed with her expert & professional opinion. I work in the building trades and fiberglass is NOT fun to deal with! The 2 mice we found were dried out, meaning no fluids oozing into woodwork, etc. If our issue was with rats, squirrels, or anything larger, I'd suit up and dig through the fiberglass to protect my home. Breanna assured me that the smell would start to go away soon, but in the meantime she set up odor neutralizers, which started to work immediately. I'm not exaggerating-it was like night and day difference! In hindsight I should've called them about this sooner. And because some people can be sensitive to smells, Breanna had the foresight to ask if I was okay with the smell before arranging the odor neutralizers. OMG!!! Could I rave any MORE about how wonderful this family-owned, female-empowering, local business is??? Probably, but I'm hungry and want to make some toast. I'm going to use butter on it...butter that's been sitting untouched on the counter.

We moved into an apartment in Oct 2019 and I immediately began getting bug bites every night. I…read moreknew it was bed bugs but just couldn't find them. Eventually I was able to find two casings and kept them in a baggy. We tried a DIY method, we purchased a highly rated steam cleaner and heat treated our bedroom and living room. (Our apartment is only 1100 sq ft so we felt this was good). Then to be thorough we also set off bed bug bombs. About 6 weeks went by, and we started getting bit again. So this time we decided to go with a professional service. Orkin quoted the lowest cost for an inspection so we went with them. At first we were impressed- they came out within 48 hours however their "inspection" lasted 5 minutes. I had a bug in a bag and he said "ok that's all I need to see" and all I said was..."we paid $100 just for that???" He Informed us that they charge an inspection fee, but that's because some people send them on wild goose chases, so they need to make sure it's legit. He said he wouldn't charge us for the inspection, and quoted us $600 for our treatment. We were thrilled! Fast forward to the actual treatment where we realized the unprofessionalism of their service. 1. a different guy came out to do the treatment and knew literally nothing, hadn't even talked to the other rep that did our "inspection". He was asking me very thorough questions about the severity of our infestation that apparently should have been investigated during our inspection but weren't. This was extremely upsetting because now we're anxious and in the dark about whether or not our treatment plan is adequate. 2. the initial rep told us the treatment should take about two hours, and then we needed to stay out two hours after that to let the chemicals dry. So we made arrangements to be out for 4 hours...the treatment took forty minutes. in that short time, he destroyed our apartment and wrecked our bed frame. I understand that they need to get every square inch sprayed, but he was extremely careless with our personal belongings. 3. they charged us for the inspection anyway. & When we called to ask about it/get it sorted out he said "oh well we typically charge $900 for apartments your size so we already kind of cut you a deal. But I'll see what I can do." Which would have been fine, but that's not what we were promised. 4. Once the treatment is done and they have your money, they DO NOT CARE. We called right away after returning home, because we wanted to make it known we were upset that our bed frame had been damaged. He answered and he said "yeah that happens." And as mentioned above, we tried to get our money back for the inspection, and he was supposed to look into it. but instead he just stopped returning our calls. It's been 10 days since our treatment and we've called 6 times, and nothing in response. Overall extremely disappointed with their service. They're sloppy, inconsistent, and fail on their "customer satisfaction guarantee." Only good thing is that the bugs seem to be gone. But I'd recommend going with another service if able.

Very poor explanation of services when purchasing. Paperwork is also very vague-could be itemized so customer can see exactly what large sum covers. When called, Company refers questions to the "portal" which contains the very same paperwork. We were told the inital visit would likely be two techs and expect them to be in and out of the house for half a day. 2. Initial treatment visit-tech told us he was unimpressed by the pest activity we were told we had. He spent approximately one hour outside only. Per service receipt, he sprayed for some ants, applied a bit of spray foam and dropped two mousetraps. 3. Same tech, during the "securing the premises" process, proceeded to stuff steel wool into GAS WATER HEATER and FURNACE VENTS as well as Sump Pump pipe. This was all discovered by Furnace Repair Tech who was subsequently contacted as the furnace was not operating following this visit. He promptly removed all blockages and furnace worked fine. Pretty sure the Gas company frowns on this practice. My advice: Call someone who knows what they are doing.
