Anyway, Jerry said he couldn't do the job right now because he has too many pending projects, but he still swung by to look at the railings & stairs to confirm my suspicions that they need to be replaced in order to be safe for my family. He took time out of his day for a non-paying client and gave honest assessment of the work needed to be done. While I really want to fix the unsafe railings, part of me hopes I can't find someone else until he is available for the job!

Our initial inquiry was sent on a Saturday, but the owner, Ruy Barbosa, replied within an hour. He met us the following workday to go over our needs and discussed various options. He projected confidence at being able to renovate our deck yet maintain its overall look. He was willing to work with us and the city's historic commission to preserve some key features of the deck. During the course of the work, Ruy and his staff were responsive to questions or changes that we requested. Communication with them was great. They were eager to please us and found ways to make the project stay on-time and within budget, even when curve balls were thrown at them. Overall, they renovated our dilapidated deck boards with composite flooring. They removed heavy railings and pillars, completely overhauled the structural supports, installed the composite flooring and finally replaced the railings & pillars. Additionally, we had them pressure wash and paint the deck. The cost associated with the structural supports and flooring was very much in line with what we believed was reasonable. We liked their work so much that they have also redone our rear porch & steps. Currently we are waiting on estimates for three more home projects. Before and after photos attached

They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

He was hired to build a retaining wall for us. We bought materials, APPROVED PRIOR TO INSTALLATION BY GENE. We hounded him for weeks to finish the job, even questioned (with pictures) as to why it looked like the wall was bowing in the middle. He said its the "blocks. Its the way they sit. One row bumps out the next" blah blah blah. I said as long as its safe and not going to fall thats fine. He never finished the job, we had to build our own walls on the 2 ends of the main wall. While bringing crushed stone to the backyard, the vibration of the bobcat made the original wall COLLAPSE! We were at least 4 feet from the main wall, literally just putting the stone in the back yard for HIM to finish filling the wall HE was supposed to do. He had the balls to ask what we did?!?! Are you kidding me?? WE did nothing. OUR WALLS, that were built the correct way stayed perfectly fine. Gene didn't use the geogrid he said he was going to use every 2 rows to distribute the weight of the crushed stone and he used INTERIOR CAULKING that isnt to be used where it will get below 50 degrees! We live in new england! He was supid enough to bury the used tubes of caulking in the crushed stone. Oh did I mention that his "worker" was also telling me about his new wife, who was my childhood best friend, and how Gene had showed him the dirty videos she had sent him. He was telling me how Gene had showed them all to him. Classy guy... I didn't bother telling her. We ended up building our own wall, the correct way, and haven't had a single issue with it.
