Purchased at a trade show. Expensive, undisclosed return policy. SDS bit heads and multi drill bits are expensive to pay to pack and ship, and pay S&H to get back. It is a life time warranty which has horrible rates for the drill bits. Read the website conditions. It was cheaper just to buy Hilti bit replacements off of ebay... or get a set from HD or lowes which have the same manufacturers warranty. Just a drives away when you are frequently there. CRAP! Bought these overpriced rover bits on the promise they'd outlast me - First time I used it the drill caught an edge, broke the cutting tooth AND snapped the shaft. I bought the multi purpose drill bits at a trade show in Dallas. I used the 1/4 bit this weekend for the first time drilling some holes in regular house brick. After 3 holes the bit snapped....Great. I had to stop the work, climb down and find my trusty Makita bits to finish the work. I am in the process of sending it to get a new bit, let's see if their lifetime guarantee is better than their "will drill anything claim". At this point I'm not impressed at all. I will update the review once I hear back from Mad Dog and see if they do actually replace my bit or come up with an excuse as to why it snapped. UPDATE So it gets better. i pay for the postage to send my broken bit back and I also have to pay an additional $2.50 for them to send me a reconditioned or repaired bit back. So cost to date. $259.99 for drill bits, or whatever you paid $10.00 postage to return broken bit $2.50 to bad dog tools to return it to me. Why wouldn't I just go buy a new bit from home depot every time I wanted to do any drilling..?? WASTE OF TIME EFFORT AND MONEY.... read more

While trying to resolve a complaint, I was sworn at and then hung up on by Ann Strong who according to the Better Business Bureau is the Vice President. I initially purchased a set of Bad Dog Tools drill bits three years ago at an expo after being impressed by their lifetime guarantee. I do not need to do much drilling, but on occasion I do, so it wasn't until recently that I used them. They practically disintegrated on me! Remembering that they had a lifetime guarantee, I shipped the entire kit back to Bad Dog Tools including both the 3 bits that I had tried using along with the unused drill bits. I figured that perhaps there had been a manufacturing problem and that I had received a defective lot. I was trying to be helpful as I assumed that the people at Bad Dog Tools might want to test the bits that I had purchased to determine if there was indeed a problem with them. Along with the bits I sent a letter stating what had happened and explaining that I ended up using some cheap bits that I had purchased at Harbor Freight (which I described as crappy) to complete my project. I guess that the folks at Bad Dog Tools misinterpreted my letter and thought that I was calling their product crappy which I did not. This became quite apparent when I spoke with Bad Dog Tools today. After receiving my package, I was called by Jessica. They needed to verify some information to process my return. Jessica was very polite. I was told that they had not been to any expos in my state that year. I was then transferred to Ann Strong. You could tell immediately that Ann was irritated. I tried to explain the situation, but Ann was not listening. She consistently interrupted me and talked over me. She told me that she couldn't believe that people would try to return a product with a lifetime guarantee, that I must have used the product incorrectly, and that she didn't appreciate me sending a letter about their crappy and, in her words, "cheap-ass" tools. I never said anything derogatory about their tools, just that I had used cheap tools to finish my project. After going on a tirade about how she was the engineer at Bad Dog Tools, that there couldn't possibly be a problem with any of their tools, and how insulted she was by me she checked to make sure that I was still on the line as I had been waiting quietly for her to finish. I calmly responded that I was still on the line. Then she told me to "Fuck off" and hung up on me. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with Bad Dog Tools' customer service. Do not do business with this outfit. The Web site says 1/8" sheet material can be cut by the bad dog biter. The guy that sold me 2 of them at CES in January said the same thing. So I bought the long and short versions and the Versaclamp. They arrive a couple weeks later and I cant cut 1/8" aluminum. The reason is that the slot that accepts the material is only 0.100" (1/10th of an inch). So I send multiple emails to topdog@baddogtools.com over the last couple months and leave VM and get no reply. Finally today someone picks up the phone. I ask about the material thickness capability and I am told that the 1/8" depends on the material. I ask, what that means and how that is possible as 1/8" plastic and 1/8" aluminum are both the same 1/8" thickness? I am told that that this is what they were told to say and there is no one to escalate to. They would be happy to give me a refund. But the web site still says it can do 1/8" I guess they figure that 1/8" is pretty impressive and lots of people will buy these. And if the buyer discovers it does not do the 1/8" they will complain and a month later when they actually talk to someone, they will offer a refund . In many cases the person will elect to keep the too in spite of the deficiency and outright lie because a 1/10th inch cutter is still pretty good. What an utterly rotten way to represent a company and be in business. And the drills, don't even bother with them. The sizes are not accurate and all they are is a carbide tipped spiral... identical to the inexpensive carbide tip masonry drills you can buy for 1/4 of the price anywhere but these are tinted black.. Yes those masonry drills will drill exactly the same hole in exactly the same materials as the bad dog drill. The trick is the identical tiny piece of carbide on the Bad dog as well as the masonry drills. . Total rip off. Carnival show hawker type ethics. . The EXACT same nibbler biter (under a different brand) can be bought for half the price from a number of companies. Try amazon And don't even start me on the warranty that basically expempts the cutting parts of the biter. read more

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SCAM. I purchased two sets of Bad Dog Bits from a trade show. I was impressed with the demonstration. The first time bit I used was so crooked I couldn't hit the mark with my drill press. The second bit I used the tip broke off in the first 5 seconds. The third bit took so much force to drill through a 3/4" of mild steel that I finally gave up. I called customer service and to try to see what was I was transferred to the rudest women I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to over the phone. I tried multiple times to explain my situation and she continued to talk down to me like I was some sort of moron. She finally hung up on me. I couldn't believe it! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! My mother tried to order some Bad Dog products for my father for their anniversary. She's not too savvy on the computer so I helped her. We made our way through placing the order, but the confirmation delivery email did not state when she would receive the products and the tracking was not yet showing any information. So I called Bad Dog to try and get the information. I explained I was calling for my mother and just wanted to get an idea of when she would receive the package. The girl on the phone seemed to have a slight attitude when saying, "did you look at the email." I thought I might have misread the attitude so I let it slide and explained the tracking was not yet showing any information so I just wanted to get an idea of the delivery time. She came back with a MAJOR attitude then (no mistaking this one) and said, "it's on there, you just need to read." I then said, "why do you have such an attitude, I'm just trying to figure out when my mom will receive this. I see the link to bring up tracking, but it's not showing any information yet because we just placed the order." She obviously didn't like that I was calling her behavior out because she then said, "well if you'd stop being such an idiot and read then you would know." At this point I'm shocked and trying to keep my voice down because I was nursing my 4 month old son at the time. I told her I needed to speak with her supervisor. She said she was the owner, she's canceling my order, and then she hung up on me. I then tell my husband about the experience, and ask him to call because the things I wanted to call back and say to her would not have been helping the situation and were not appropriate while I was holding my son in my arms. He looked at the email first and verified it did not say when my mother could expect the package. He then called for me and said the words, "I'm calling on behalf of my wife." She must of known he was my husband because she immediately cut him off and started blurting out her version and blatantly lying about how it all went down, which was completely irrelevant, all he wanted was to get the order through for my mother. He really didn't care what had transpired earlier. So he sits and listens, waiting for a chance to say something so we can just move forward. He finally had enough, interrupted, and said, "well I know that's not how it went down." Which she came back and said she didn't want to have anything to do with our family and the order was canceled. So not sure what side of the bed she woke up on this morning and how a simple question of "when can my mother be expecting the package" set her off, but if you're big on customer service when you order products this is NOT the company for you!! My father is building a shop and had plans to order many of their products, but that won't be happening now. read more
