Here for a work function... The place is awesome! It was in the A/C (big bonus during Oklahoma summer heats) We arrived and signed waivers via a QR code. I made myself a little less nervous about performing axe throwing with a Miller lite - served to me with a smile from Taylor (apologies for misspelled). We as a group ate catered in City bites provided by my boss whom was also here. We were coached up by our host Taylor, she educated us on the safety stuff and away we went. Of course I love competition - so we divided into 2 teams of 4 draft pick style ... My team ended up losing all 3 sets. Did I have fun you ask... Oh yeah. This was a fun team activity and I feel like our sports medicine team members enjoyed it. The bathrooms were spotless. The parking lot area is quaint...next door neighbors on the building is the cannabis store... So that was a nice fragrance in the area. Beers were as expected... High in Price... But I understand and didn't mind paying $5per for a couple Miller Lites... (You make your money to spend it how you want right?) Plus it was early Friday afternoon and I was off work!!! I'm not sure what the cost of the facility rental was and I do remember we killed some bottles of water as a group... But either way this was a FUN time and I am eager to get back. Great fun for the whole group (all 16 of us). We were celebrating a friend's milestone birthday and though I don't believe any of us had any expertise in hatchet throwing, boy did we sure have a great time! Our large group had just enough space to hang out around the tables, mix and mingle and wait our turn to do some hatchet slingin'. Our group of 16 and another large bday party group were there at the same time. Each group had a hatchet slingin' expert to guide the group through a warm-up and each person got to learn the basics and practice a bit. Then the games started up. Our guide lead us through a couple of really fun games. Our group really had a blast. We were there for about 2 hours or so. They offer just enough of a bar. You most likely won't find your favorite beer or wine beverage, but you can find something. All and all, we made some really great memories that evening and I'd be happy to go back again. ------ (short) wish list: * I'd love to see a rotating collab. with local breweries and a couple of draft craft beer options...seems like craft beer and this hatchet throwing thing go hand-in-hand. If they offered those compostable plastic cups, I mean, slam dunk! * Bad Axe could post additional information or another price option which includes the tip for the hatchet slingin' expert. It seems like a sport that will catch on. When our time was up there was no one in queue after us and so they gave us a free 20-30 minutes! Also, its' no longer BOYB. They sell domestic beer (i.e. Miller Lite) for $5.75! (that's the 2/5 rating, lol). It's located in the Power House district which means there isn't a lot of walking around grabbing eats so I feel it's still slightly out of the way, however i'm sure this area will be building up nicely (in the next 30 years, lol). read more

It was a cold, shadowy night. I step through the door, it turned a normal looking store front into something so much more. I hear a crack of wood being splintered. I look up and see a woman walking to that same piece of wood and retrieving an axe that she just buried in the center of the target drawn on the wood. I gasp. I start to wonder if this woman is a master of the Viking arts that has traveled through time. Turns out no, it was just someone who had spent the 15 minutes with one of the instructors teaching them how to throw an axe properly... I see axes flying (totally safely btw) and know that I want in on that action. I immediately get on my phone to sign the electronic disclosure so I am allowed to throw axes (and I won't sue them if i cut my toe off) One of the instructors begins training the entire group on how to toss axes. I throw an axe...no stick....I throw an axe again....it lands true, but falls off at the last second. The instructor walks over to me, "Hey man, step back half a step." I step back and then boom all of a sudden I'm locking axes to the board like its my job right? I'm talking straight axe to wood. So now that everyone has a bit of bloodlust in their eyes, we do the only natural thing left to do...Play some games to see who the optimal axe throwers are. I realize everyone else in the party was having fun and enjoying themselves, but I was scouting. I need to know which of these people will be my designated axe throwers in the eventual zombie apocalypse that we all know is coming. So I am spying out people left and right when the instructors decide that because it was my buddy's birthday, he would get to throw a GIANT axe. This axe is roughly 64.3% the size of a standard 20 year old male. I'm talking this axe looked nearly legal to consume alcohol. Oh, I should mention my buddy is fellow Yelper Gus O. Check out his review on this place as well! So Gus the Bus lines up the throw and sticks it dead center on his 3rd try! Naturally the entire place flips out worse than we all did when we thought the Mayans might have been right about 2012 being the end of days...Oh, most people didn't panic?...Yeah me neither... So now I have done my scouting, I know exactly which of the people I was partying with that I will give an axe to when the zombie apocalypse gets here. I'm thinking 2024 is the most likely start date for the zombie apocalypse. (This is based upon less than zero research into the science behind reanimating a deceased human and somehow making them need to eat humans. I mean seriously are we actually to believe that zombies wouldn't rather have a nice steak?) I am sorry I kind of blacked out there while typing. What was I saying? Oh right, this adventure into the primal world of axe throwing. It was an experience unlike any I have ever had. I will be back. I will become the worlds deadliest man with an axe.... BEST. BIRTHDAY. EVER! As someone who identifies as a direct relative of Thor, a modern day Viking this place takes me back to my ancestry roots. My wife planned a surprise birthday party for me last weekend. They accommodated the party and allowed us to bring in food and cake to celebrate. Seth, Jesus, and Rachel took care of us and were as hospitable as your great aunt sally who doesn't know a stranger and lives in el dorado, KS. Anyways, back to the primal and surprisingly simple activity of throwing axes. The lesson was quick and we were throwing and sticking axes in no time, then Seth set us up with a couple different games to entertain us. You had the options of one handed or two handed throwing and could pick several different styles of axes. What they don't tell you, unless you're the birthday boy, is they have what I call (excuse my language) the "Big A** Axe!" It's an axe as long as your leg and since it was my birthday they brought it out with the sole mission to fully synchronize myself with my ancestors via hitting the bullseye with this axe. I cannot lie, this took time, around 10 attempts. I was willing to accept getting within a few inches of the bullseye because it was closing time and everyone had left the party, however, the crew working that night would accept nothing less than a bullseye. They kept the place open past closing time and kept coaching me until finally on my last throw of the night I did it. The axe released from my hand as it hit the bullseye I felt the blood rush throughout my whole body transporting me back 1000 years to the fjords of northern Norway amongst the Viking homestead of my ancestors. But the story doesn't stop there. The crew then proceeded to set up a small photo shoot to get all the photos possible so that I had the cream of the crop to choose from for my social media posts. This was the experience of a lifetime and I cannot wait to return to this amazing place in which I feel aligned with my ancestry. The pricing is reasonable and the facility is small but more than sufficient for parties and groups. The crew on staff is wonderful to work with. read more

My first time to Bad Axe was for the open house a few months ago. This review is after my second time with a group of friends. Our instructor, Katie, was AXEcellent! She gave instructions for throwing and gave us plenty of time to practice. After we got the hang of it, she created 3 different games for us to play - it helped break up a "practicing" feel and made it easier to remember who was next. Our 2 1/2 hours felt like it went by fast. I will axe-olutely be back again!! Miscellaneous info: You'll sign a waiver when you get there. Wear closed-toed shoes or you'll be sharing shoes with a friend! They have 3 areas of play, each with two targets. They have 3 & 5 pound axes to throw. You can buy bottled water there if you get thirsty. There is awesome music, and it's quiet enough you can still have a normal conversation with your friends. read more

Super fun! Never been axe throwing and really wanted to try. We went with a group of about 18 people and rented 4 stalls. The host taught us what to do and we were off to the races. Overall, had a fun time in a great atmosphere. Semi-limited drink selection, but still an awesome experience. Will be back for sure. read more

Fun but very expensive. We went for a date and ended up paying over $70 for 30 mins of axe throwing. Granted we tipped 20% but it was still outrageous. Not to mention you can't make reservations. Really fun and unique experience, but there is definitely room for improvement. Visibility of the building is low-- I passed it twice, and then missed the ally-way to the small parking lot. The back entrance near the parking lot has no reception area, and puts you immediately in a group's throwing area if those boards are in use. Fortunately for me, it was my group so I had no problem asking them for instruction on how to participate. I checked in with our coach who instructed me to use my smartphone to scan a code and sign an online waiver. No customer WiFi is available, so I was a bit perturbed they required the customer to use data for their mandatory form. After signing in, I had to track down the coach by weaving through other parties for further instruction. He just said "your set" and continued in his conversation with another person. I fought the crowd back to my group and began hurling a sharp metal weapon at the target for practice. Now, when practice was over our coach did a great job to set us up for playing games. Our group of 13 split into 2 to play target games in which the axe must stick to the board to earn points/marks. We were not a huge fan of the coach putting himself on the guys team, thus giving them an advantage. But, the games were extreme entertaining and the environment (though extremely loud) was more encouraging and cheerful than competitive. One other thing to mention is the pseudo-bar situation needs improvement. We had been told you could bring your own beverages, but the coolers were not allowed inside. For those wanting to order from the "bar" (a couple of window coolers behind the counter) the pricing wasn't clearly listed and cash was not accepted. Instead they write your name on your group's paper and tally your purchases at the end. When your time is done, you pay $35+ for the participation in axe throwing plus any purchases via Square credit card (w/chip) reader on your coach's phone. Again, this experience was fun overall. I highly suggest a better initial instruction (written display or personal reception) for first time visitors. It's a bit overwhelming and concerning to navigate through novice axe throwers. read more

Terrible experience, thought as a group of friends we'd try to be safe and try a fun activity. Turns out due to covid we were unable to make it to an event and wanted to be refunded our money as things happen unexpectedly duirng covid. Also because we were not made aware of their cancellation policy before hand. Well... The company decides not to refund our money. Never ever booking with them ever again. We almost turned around because the outside is the very definition of "nondescript building." Once we got in though, it was fine. Customer service was excellent. Axe throwing explanation very useful, but I most appreciated the tips she gave me on how to improve my throws (knees a bit bent, wrists loose, etc.). This was a truly an adventure! We took a group of teenagers (16) for a birthday. They had so much fun!! It's very safe & the people working there give you a lot of instruction and guidance. The bar is, meh. But surprisingly when I asked for wine, they had it!!....in a can!! Ha!! It actually was pretty good. They had selections of beer and I believe maybe some cocktail options, but you don't go here for the bar part. The axe throwing is so fun and something new to try out. We all loved it!! read more

This is definitely a fun place to go for whatever occasion. They just had a corporate event so I might even mention this to my boss. I think the price is pretty good... $20 for an hour. You can play for points or not, either way you'll have an awesome time. You can bring your own food and drinks. Of course my friends brought alcohol...so party! So when I was propositioned about throwing axes I was totally in because who doesn't want to throw axes! I'm not one for throwing darts which is fine because this is so much more fun. The general idea is that you are in a cleaned garage throwing a 3-5 lb axe at a target. As basic as this sounds it is great fun and I'm sure this could be considered exercise depending on who you asked. Thanks to our host, it got pretty competitive for my group and we had a blast. This is an awesome fun couple hours for sure! We went to the open house and loved throwing some axes. The coaches are very helpful and their is an outdoor area outside with a small drink vendor and picnic tables. You can bring your dog if someone in your party can be outside with the pup. Don't be scared by the location. It's across the street from the Historic Farmers Market building, so there's plenty to do after you get done throwing axes. The staff are helpful and will teach you how to throw before just giving you the axe. They are peppy and fun. There's not much to the interior, but I don't know what more you'd want since it's literally just throwing axes at targets. It's clean and maintained. read more

Finding the location was a challenge but not much can be done about that other than just being more aware when you come up on it. Walking into the building from the back, theres a possibility you walk into a possible thrower which could be dangerous. Once you are in, you must file a waiver (standard procedures ), and I was all set from there. I did come in alone and received some tips for throwing which was nice. The vibes are good , I was alotted to throw for about an hour because of a group coming in at a later time ( assuming ) , the price was a tad high for me. I dont think I paid enough attention to the price signs on the wall, but I dont remember seeing the price and as soon as my hour was up my tab was about $31 ( axe throwing + a bottle of water ) . Bad Axe throwing has provided a unique experience for a traveling visitors, if you are looking for a place to practice or for a party I think this would be great ! I went to the open house weekend and had a great time! The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. You get to learn a skill you never thought you would learn! They even let you put up balloons on the board once you are better at throwing and you get to see if you can pop them. This would be a great place for an "out of the box" company event/group event because it really encourages teams and mingling when you are assigned to a lane. read more
